iPhone 6 here. Not quite sure what I want to do.

I really like the iPhone X. About the same form factor as my iPhone 6, but with larger screen. But that's a lot of dinero for that. And I lose Touch ID and my home button. As far as the swipe up thing goes, what happens when I am playing games that I use to swipe up inside the game -- will I do that and immediately go "home" when I do that swiping up thing now?

Am undecided. I really wanted to upgrade. Now am not so sure..

I’m undecided.

I’m in the UK and was planning to buy the X when I visit New Hampshire later this month, however since it’s delayed until November, it’s not an option. I would pay $999 for one but no way am I paying £999.

So it’s either get myself an 8, or save my money and get a new battery put in my 64GB 6S.

Think about it this way when you look at the X:

1) You get all of the iPhone 8+ features in the form factor very close to an iPhone 8. This means you get 21 hours of battery life with that large display instead of 14 on the normal 8. Remember the phones have increased in weight significantly compared to the 6's we know of, so the 8+ will feel much heavier than the 6+, let alone the 6.

2) You get dual optical image stabilization, so both front and rear cameras have OIS unlike the 8+ which just has one.

3) You get full-sized OLED display.

4) You get Face ID and Animojis! Your friends will envy you and you will have bragging rights.

5) All of the above costs $300 more than the maxed out 8 model.

The only thing your missing out on is Touch ID.
If there is any reason I choose to not upgrade or I demote the X, here are more reasons:
No bezel, edge to edge, looks nice..I like it, outside of the top, but it’s not huge.
FaceId is cool but for my needs TouchID is better or just the same.
AR right now is new, plus I have AR with my 6s plus just not added sensors.
OLED, they don’t blow me away like retina did.
Oh animated emoji, never would use it.
Wireless charging, ok?

Am I missing something? And the 8...if I went 8 I would feel like I’m buying and old model for more money.
And don’t forget the hefty price difference.

I'll stick with my 6s+

If I was ever insane enough to consider dropping £1000.00 on a phone it would have to do something pretty amazing. Face ID and animated emoji's ain't it.

Personally, I look forward to actually getting hands-on with iPhone X and seeing it in person. It's so hard to understand all of its capabilities and features just based off a keynote. I think that also help others decisions as well.

5S iOS 7.1.2 representing here. I was waiting until today to decide what to do since my phone is starting to show it's age.

iPhone X for $999+ tax for a base model? Hell no.

The hard decision with these price reductions is an iPhone 7 or an SE. Leaning towards getting an SE because of it's size and headphone jack. And with the other $600 I saved, I can have a celebratory beer at the end of the day.

Keeping it.

The 8 isn't enough of an upgrade and on top of that they bumped the starting price $50 (gee, thanks). The X is too expensive, especially for what it's offering. Losing TouchID is a big problem. I also really appreciate having a headphone jack still.

Hopefully Apple wises up next year...

6s Plus owner here. Idk why but I have terrible battery life with my phone. I even had Apple test the battery and they said it’s fine. With normal usage today, I started the morning in my Mophie case. Within 4 hours it was depleted. Another 8 hours later my phone’s battery was at 11% with low power mode turned on after the Mophie died. FWIW, this is the first phone that I can say is still as fast as the day I bought it, 100%. Still very happy with it’s performance.

Currently looking to upgrade to a 7 Plus. 8 Plus isn’t enough and X is nice but waaaaay too much for what it is. For what I’m looking at paying for it, plus a case and AppleCare, I can pickup a nice 7 Plus used (possibly new when they hit clearance) and a Series 3 Stainless Steel Watch with AC+ (replacing my aging 1st Gen).

Right now I want to say stick with the 6S but after I see the iPhone X firsthand at the Apple Store, I don’t know what I’m going to do.
I just love that it looks so new and fresh.

One thing is for sure: I wo t be buying the 8, it just does not get me on an emotional level because it doesn’t feel new.

Can't justify spending $1,450 here in Sweden for the iPhone X. I might have considered upgrading to the 8 if they had removed the bezels, but as it is I'm definitely keeping my 6s plus. Battery still holds up very well after two years, I usually have around 60% battery left after a full day with 3-4 hours of usage. It also still feels very snappy and I haven't noticed much of a slowdown at all.

I keep going back and forth. I think I will upgrade my iPhone 6. But probably with the 8+.

Here is my stratergy. I think the 8+ will be a nice upgrade from what I have been using. I get to keep my Touch ID for my app's and Apple Pay. And my likes me Home button.

I will wait until the inevitable bugs are worked out of the iPhone X and go up to that in a year or two when everything is more sorted out with it.

That's what I am saying now. I could change my mind in 5 minutes. :)

Not too sure atm. I can't seem to justify buying the iphoneX at that price range.
I do want to upgrade to a plus phone though. I'm thinking about either going for the 7 plus or 8 plus. My carrier is Verizon and it seems like the price range are about the same.

I do want extra storage.... but then $900 for an 8 plus? Might as well go for the X at that point.

Advice anyone? Honestly I feel like the smartest move would be to just hold on to my iphone for another year.

haha honestly I feel like I'm in the same situation! Are you planning on keeping the base model then and not upgrading any extra storage?

6s+ here. Still working perfectly. However, I had skipped the 7 upgrade and was ready to get a new phone. Any possibility of getting the X disappeared for many reasons, most of which have been stated. The 8+ is a possibility but they have jacked up prices beyond reasonable and I need to let my anger settle.

I'll wait to see how upgrading to 11 affects my phone and then make a decision.

I'll be keeping my 6s+. It's still working perfectly
The features of 8+ are nice but not worth upgrading in my opinion and as much as I like X,it's way out of my budget

Got a 6 and after deliberating I'm most likely going for the 8.

I don't use my phone as a media device as such so to me the extra large screen isn't worth it.

Plus an extra £300 buys me a watch!!

I have the 64GB iPhone 6 now. And it seems to be adequate for my needs now. But I thought about if I do go for the 8, I might bump that up to 128GB. Seems like you typically can't go wrong with extra storage. That is another issue with the X. You can only get 64GB or all the way up to 256GB. No middle ground there. So...that's probably another reason why I will wait awhile longer before getting the X phone.

I'm slightly tempted by the 8+, but most likely waiting until my 6s+ becomes unusable. Not anywhere near that point yet.

My past iPhone upgrades:
4s to 5s: gained LTE and touch ID
5s to 6s+: massive screen, much better camera
6s+ to ???: wireless charging? spending $1000 to get face ID and OLED? Not really upgrades I want to pay that much for right now.

The only thing that makes me change from the 6s is the horrible battery life. But I am seriously tempted to stick around with it because every release has been underwhelming to say the least, and the lack of headphone jack is too much of a hindrance to be overlooked.
