100% no doubt purchasing the 8. Frankly, outside of the Face ID there's nothing attractive on the X to make me want to purchase a $1000 phone.

Saying that - congrats Apple! The 8 & 8Plus will be the last iPhone models to be under $1000. They are moving this to a luxury price point that suckers (like me) who have grown very accustomed to the functionality of the Apple product will pay.

Both Husband and I have 6S+ 128GB. We plan to keep the phones as backups and get 8 plus. For us same monthly billing price through Verizon and we want 256 more storage.

Thank you for the specs. I was under the wrong impression that it was closer in size to a 8+.

We have one line that's still on the 6 Plus. Kinda regretting not upgrading that last year to 7 Plus with the $650 trade in credit promo (I did upgrade my iP6 to iP7). Do hope we get some decent promos this year.

I agree. I'm hoping to see something similar to that this year towards the iPhone 8 or 8+. If they do this I will skip the X and get the 8 at no cost by trading in my 6S.

I'm probably going iPhone 8 256 GB. I 've upgraded every 2 years like clockwork from the 3GS on. The smartphone market is much more mature than it was back then though. If this ridiculous price on their flagship device isn't just this year because of how expensive OLED is, and Apple insists on maintaining this price point going forward, I may move to a 3 year upgrade cycle and buy their flagship phone in 2019. I'm not going to spend $1000+ on a phone every 2 years though, I know that.

Both have Wireless charging and the 8 Plus has a better battery if you look at the comparison on Apple's Website.
Battery life boost is good. However I want this wireless charging: when I enter my room, the phone is being charged wirelessly. No pad, no cable, no need for me to do anything. Just walk in, and I am done.

Anything that needs a pad of any sort is intolerable.

thats what i always assumed wireless charging would be when i first heard about it. the pad has a wire...and the phone needs to be on the pad...what in the world is the point? is it really just to save the nanosecond it takes to remove the cable from the phone itself?

I have a 6S. I hate how tiny it is compared to my Pixel XL, I HAVE to get a Plus 256GB. Right now I'm trying to figure out what would be easier to finance, wait for the 8 Plus and enroll in IUP, or try to do a 7 Plus now but no IUP. I burned Barclays in an old bankruptcy so I doubt they'll take me back for financing.

Don't want to go through T-Mobile for the 7 Plus because I don't want the crappy Intel version.

I went from a 6+ which, I loved the screen and battery life, it was just too big of a phone for me to use (I'm a woman with small hands). So I switched to the 6S, which was a much better size for me, but I really missed the screen of the + and battery of the +. The X is a very good solution for me.... so I'm going to go with that.

Android user here, but looking to pick-up an iPhone just to mix things up.

For me, the 6s hits that sweet-spot.
It's still a damn good phone that is more than capable.
It's not all that different from the iPhone 8. Incremental changes IMO.
It will get iOS updates for several more years.
And it can now be had for a great price on the used/refurbished/secondary sales market. Your not going to get too much money back if you sell now.

If I had a 6S or 6S Plus, I would skip 'upgrading' it to the iPhone 8 and until next year to see if the technology and swipe gestures from the iPhone X make their way to other models (iPhone 9 or SE 2).

That being said, if you live in the Vancouver, BC area and want to unload your 6S (minimum 64gb of storage and in clean condition) drop me a PM!

I still don't know man, iphone 8 offer is minimum compared to an iphone 6s, yeah a faster processor and some new things here and there, however the screen is the same, the resolution, the pixels main camera, the size, the design, the amount of RAM, etc...

On ther other side my iphone 6s battery is now almost 2 years old and has started to jump i don't like that definitely but buying an iphone 8 is not gonna feel like a new phone for me.

I bet next year new iphones are gonna get rid of the the touch id...

Probably keeping the 6s. The iPhone X is close in size to the plus models and not the smaller model. Too big for me. And the 8 isn't a big difference unless you play games.

Same here the iphone X size is SO BIG that definitely won't fit inside my trousers lol and i won't be using a woman bag in order to carry it lol

i mean almost the same size of my d#$ when is ready for action? come on!

and of course the price is too expensive for me definitely i won't miss not having one.

Why don't you just get the battery replaced? It costs way less than buying a new phone. Most malls where I livehave retailers that will do this service for under $100 CDN (about $75 USD).

I think Touch ID/fingerprint unlock will be around for a while yet.

Thank for the advice =)

However I've already thought about that and i don't know man, someone else opening and manipulating my phone (can't stand scratches), but who knows perhaps i'll do that.

I'm considering three phones: iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, and Pixel XL. I need to see reviews and what kinds of deals are being offered because I would like to keep the phone for two years, which is what I've always done.

I'm concerned about how well baked the X experience will be since it's kind of a new paradigm in terms of iPhone interaction, but I also want those damn Animojis.

I'm concerned about the all-glass backs of all of the new iPhones.

I loved the Pixels last year, especially the clean software and nice camera, and I already use almost all Google services on my Apple products, but I don't want my Apple Watch to be completely useless after only two years. I also love how iMessage works with my Mac and iPad.

None of these will be cheap.

Ugh. Decisions.

6S plus and I'm definitely keeping it.

For me, the 8/8+ don't offer enough of an upgrade for the money and iPhone X offers an "upgrade" that I don't need.

Edit: I read somewhere that the fast charging solution would not be available out of the box like they are with Amdroid and would cost close to $100 instead.

I'm not willing to spend $1000+$100(tax, approx)+$100(fast charging)+cost of new case+screen protector etc

I have the 64GB iPhone 6 now. And it seems to be adequate for my needs now. But I thought about if I do go for the 8, I might bump that up to 128GB. Seems like you typically can't go wrong with extra storage. That is another issue with the X. You can only get 64GB or all the way up to 256GB. No middle ground there. So...that's probably another reason why I will wait awhile longer before getting the X phone.

The 8 doesn't come in 128gb though

Well said

The 8/8+ are indeed pretty minor upgrades from the 6s, processing power aside - which is not really an issue since the A9 is still packing more than enough power (has anyone seen how well iOS 11 performs on the 6s? Actually outperforms iOS 9.3.5 from AppleBytes latest video! Very impressive) The A11 looks like a beast of a chip but the A9 is still perfectly capable. My SE breezes and is smooth on iOS 11.

Plus one can keep their 6s on iOS 10 if they want to keep some of those extra 3D touch gestures like app switcher, battery life is avg but will still get you through a work day, and you still have 2GB ram, same res/ppi screen, 12MP camera, LTE-A, WiFi w MIMO, VoLTE, WiFi calling, 3D touch, all that stuff...6s is still a fantastic phone.

The 8/8+ are minor updates from the 7/7+ which itself was a minor update from the 6s/6s+

Going from the 6 -> 7 was a pretty big jump, as it brought 6 owners tons of the hardware improvements from the 6s plus slightly better processor and camera....6s -> 8 not so much.

Sticking with 6S. I bought it late in the cycle and it's absolutely rock solid. There's nothing compelling about the 7 or 8 that makes me want to jump. Plus I like the headphone jack.

The X feels like the original ipad and Apple Watch, a limted device with technology not quite ready for prime time. I'm over having the 'latest and greatest first', I want something that a little more baked.

Wife and I are both 6s owners - We upgraded every year until last year, the 7 wasn't compelling enough to make the jump. This year we have to upgrade because our GenX children get our old phones - They're both rocking the 6 and both devices are failing now (charge port going bad, bad battery etc). I'm torn between the 7 and 8 - I don't like buying 1 year old tech, but it's about a $300 difference in price for two entry-level models and I'm not sure wireless charging, 64GB vs 32GB and an incremental performance boost is worth it.

I will say that if it wasn't for the kids needing replacements, we'd probably hold on to our 6s models for another year.

I was wondering if your carrier will be offering $300 for iPhone 6's if you upgrade. That would definitely help. I know T-Mobile is doing it.

Not sure what I'm going to do. 6S works great, never had one problem with it. If the 6S had OIS, I would keep it without hesitation. I think I'll wait to see what kind of incentives are offered by carriers before I decide. Keeping it as a backup is also an option..

Headphone jack is way more attractive than not having one. I use it everyday so upgrading isn't really enticing, especially with the prices.

We'll see what Apple offers next year.

If you get the wireless charger pad, you could charge and still listen on your headphones at the same time.

I was all about keeping my beautiful 6s (the last with the headphone jack!) but I know I won't be able to tolerate seeing X's around everywhere while I'm still running 2+ yr old hardware and running out of space on a 128 GB phone...

Therapy may help but a 256 GB iPhone X is cheaper than therapy under my insurance.
[doublepost=1505364769][/doublepost]O and since AirPods and CarPlay have entered my life i only really use my headphone jack in like car rental aux jacks. Most rental cars nowadays have bluetooth though...
