One major problem that I foresee with the X is the battery life. Of course, no one knows how it will fare in the real world, but one of the main reasons why I upgraded from the 6 to the 6s Plus was the atrocious battery life of the former. Based on the specs released by Apple, it seems that the X's battery life will be a lot closer to its smaller counterpart, rather than the larger one. I don't like battery cases, so the potential of poor battery life is a real issue.

sticking with my 2 year old 6s plus. IOS 11 will give it a lease of new life. Battery is still awesome and still working fine for me- does everything I need it to do.

I have an iPhone 6S (128GB) and I'll be keeping it for at least another year. It was just replaced last month due to faulty Bluetooth, so it has a fresh battery and does everything I need it to do.

The X is nice but I just don't feel like spending that much on a phone. I always get AppleCare+ and that makes it $1,200 for 64GB, which just feels too much for the additional features I'd be getting over my 6s. Maybe next year new features will be added that make it worth it to me.

The 8 has some nice new features but if I'm going to spend that much I feel like I might as well get the X.

The 6S is still a great phone for my use, and I'm impressed with how well it has aged. It should keep me going another year or maybe two.

6s here. Keeping it and hoping for next year - if Apple is able to incorporate Touch ID on the whole display, I may get the next X (or whatever they're calling it then), because that would actually be a device I'd be excited about, even though I assume they're trying to play up the Face ID thing and will stick to it, if the sales are okay.
Was totally underwhelmed and at that price point, neither the 8 or the X are worth buying at all - minor screen, camera, cpu and battery upgrades I wouldn't pay 1.100€+ for. (I could get a chromebook and a galaxy s8 for that price)
So: Hoping for "fullscreen" Touch ID and until then sticking to my 6s.

6s plus here but I don’t know if I will buy a 8 or 8 Plus...

Initially I was really hyped to take a small iPhone with the smart battery case to have a big battery life but according to Apple site, the iPhone 8 doesn’t have a smart battery case...

I'm keeping my 6s. Still does everything I need it to, and has a headphone jack. In fact I'm sure that's the only reason they haven't killed off the 6s - correct me if I'm wrong but this is the first time Apple have not killed off all but one previous model (excluding the SE which doesn't count.) They have kept the 6s because they know that a headphone jack (or lack of) is a deal breaker for a lot of people.

I have an iPhone 6S + 128Gb

Usually upgrade every 2years.

Not this year.

I love iPhones because they consolidated all my portable devices, phone, iPod, portable DVD player, torch, SatNav, alarm clock, radio, compass, etc etc I now charge one thing up every night and I am good all day.

Taking out the 3.5mm jack meant two things;-

1. I need to carry a dongle to use the cheap earbuds I use everyday (and lose too often)
Or
2. I have another thing I have to manage for charging every night.

There is nothing in the iPhone 7, 8, 8+ or X that would enhance my life anymore than the iPhone 6S+ already does.

I can safely say I’ll be £1,000 better off in my pocket and not miss anything.

Moving back and forward between either a 8+ or 7+ to replace my 6S+. My 6S+ seems to be having battery issues, I am now having to charge it 3 times a day, plus I want optical zoom on the camera even if it is only x2. Put off on the 8+ by it's even heavier weight and seemingly lower battery life than my 6S+.

Whilst my 6s still works OK, I was interested in upgrading to possibly the 8 to benefit from newer camera features but now I’m not sure. I bought a 7 but returned it as it didn’t feel like an upgrade at all and it looks like they have intentionally left the 7s (it’s not really an all new phone is it) as a minor upgrade to make people more interested in the X

Let’s face it, anyone on a 6, 6s or 7 is not going to be that interested in the 8 so it kinda forces people down the X path to feel like an upgrade!!

I very nearly bought an S8 earlier this year and may rethink as they are going for £550 Sim Free....I just don’t know if I can give up FaceTime and iMessage (it’s taken far too long to get my non tech savvy parents into this)

I was all ready to buy a new iPad Pro next week on holiday too but their sneaky and totally unnecessary price increase has chalked that off my list.....yes it’s only $50 but it’s the principle and just pushed it too far

Was also gonna but an AW3 but if I go S8 that will be more money I don’t spend with Apple and I suspect many will feel the same

This is basically my mantra for the time being. Really hyped for iOS11. Battery life is also still very good. I've never held onto an iphone for more than 2 years. I always upgrade. Uncharted territory for me.

I'm skipping my typical upgrade cycle of every 2 years, this year. My 6s Plus battery is going pretty strong, I still have the 3.5"mm headphone jack, quicker TouchID > FaceID, the A9 can do the AR stuff.... and, I'm saving money in the meantime being that my phone isn't costing me anything.

There is nothing whatsoever to compel me to upgrade, on any of the phones, other than perhaps the TruTone screens. That gold 8/Plus is gorgeous, however....

I will take into account how well this FaceID thing goes over, and consider what the market bears next year. Regardless, I would NEVER buy a brand new version number (X, in this case; but the non-S versions in the past).

This! I've always gone with the S versions. Made a mistake getting sucked into buying the first gen Apple Watch.

for me it comes down to this:

1. get $300 for my 6splus from tmobile and pay about $20 a month for an 8+

2. Keep my 6s+ and have my bill be $32 less per month now that its paid off ($396 saved over a year)

3. sell my 6s+ for $240 on gazelle and have cash in hand whilst doing Jump on Demand with $0 down and same monthly bill.

what would you guys do?

Wife and I are both 6s owners - We upgraded every year until last year, the 7 wasn't compelling enough to make the jump. This year we have to upgrade because our GenX children get our old phones - They're both rocking the 6 and both devices are failing now (charge port going bad, bad battery etc). I'm torn between the 7 and 8 - I don't like buying 1 year old tech, but it's about a $300 difference in price for two entry-level models and I'm not sure wireless charging, 64GB vs 32GB and an incremental performance boost is worth it.

I will say that if it wasn't for the kids needing replacements, we'd probably hold on to our 6s models for another year.

Either 8 plus or 7 plus depending on contract pricing. Need a bigger screen and more storage but it's a hard choice.

Headphone jack is way more attractive than not having one. I use it everyday so upgrading isn't really enticing, especially with the prices.

We'll see what Apple offers next year.

I'm a 6s Plus owner and I'm at a complete loss. I was really looking forward to upgrading to the iPhone X, but the delayed release, storage sizes and the associated price points are making me seriously consider the 8 Plus. My 6s Plus is the 64GB version and I am running low on space; as such, I was really hoping that the X would come in a 128GB capacity at a lower price point.

I could get either the 256GB 8 Plus ($950 is way too much for a phone whose design is 4 generations old, despite the upgraded internals), or I could get the 64GB X for $50 more. I could probably make the 64GB work, but I'd rather not worry about having to delete things to make sure that I have enough space. $1,149 (the price of the 256GB X) is an unrealistic price for a phone, regardless of what it does. I'll mull it over for the next couple of days. First world problems, I guess!

Go for the 7 plus, dual camera and you can still get the 128 or 256 on closeout. They have the new A10 multi core fusion processors and will be good for at-least three years.

If there is any reason I choose to not upgrade or I demote the X, here are more reasons:

And don’t forget the hefty price difference.

Both have Wireless charging and the 8 Plus has a better battery if you look at the comparison on Apple's Website.

I was about to buy a 128G 7+ for $769, thinking that was a good deal. But the 64G 8+ is only $30 more - As a new buyer, it's difficult choosing between those two (especially given I have an iPad that I can store a lot of my media on)

Hmm. So my brain is thinking (not good). If I grab the 8+ on o2 refresh and then in one years time if what's available looks good, I can pay off the remainder of the phone (then recycle the phone itself for £ to cover that hit). Is that how it works? Or do you hand the phone back to o2 + the money owed (and then upgrade)?

I love my 6S. It's a great phone and I have no need to upgrade. Right now the plan is that I'm going to let people beta test the X for me so all the bugs will be ironed out by the time I get the X-2.
