and thankfully through FedEx. I don't have to wait until 6, 7 or even 8pm for UPS to drop it off. A buddy of mine works for UPS and he says the past few years when the iPhone was released, he got home later than he normally does. He said a lot of little boxes being shipped out.

You'll need the login info for your parents' AT&T account, first of all. Also, whatever the billing address of the AT&T account is must be the same on the order, so likely your home.

update both addresses right now, just for the mean time. Once you get confirmation the iPhone has been shipped, switch it back. I was able to change all mailing addresses online with Apple, my credit card and carrier to ensure the address i want it to go to will be there and have no problems.

i get e-statements anyways so they won't be shipping anything to my work. if it does, it has my name on it so it will go directly to me

one thing is for sure. we obviously won't know until tomorrow if pre-order will be available or if it was like last year, available to order online the same day it was released. I don't have an apple store near me and don't want to miss work or go by an att store after work to buy one. HOPEFULLY pre-order will be available.
 
I ordered my iPhone 5 on a whim late into the day following the midnight rush the night before. I had no trouble ordering. No constant refreshing etc. I received my phone on launch day at about 11am no signature required. Easiest iphone purchase I'd made to date. I only say this because it just goes to show you.... There really is no rhyme or reason to how this process works from our end. No first come first serve etc. at least not for the iPhone 5.

I have AT&T but on my account settings I only have a billing address (no shipping address anywhere) and it matches my billing address on my Apple account. I remember being able to ship the iPhone 5 to my office and do not recall having to make any address changes to "match".
This is still how I have my accounts set up - do you think I'm good to go?
 
People having all these browser windows open cannot be helping the crashing of the website and the store. People need to calm down just a tad. You will get one - within reason. I want one on launch day too, I will pre-order online if they allow that this year. At the end of the day people yes it's the new iPhone, but it will not disappear forever if you miss the 1st batch of the handsets - chill.

Same as gig tickets people hammer the sites and selfishly take up multiple queue positions, other people cannot get one and I cannot stand people that buy more than they actually intend to keep, to either exploit fellow customers or return them later - I don't get that mentality.

have every device you have opened to apple store app, make sure you are signed in and have express pay set up, when the 5 hit, my mac was a snail as expected, so i popped over to apple app on iPhone that was already opened, set with credit card and got it that way, no clue how 5c went but this is a biggie

plus have the forum open here as everyone will be reporting best way to do....

multiple browsers will not help, your iPhone + iPad will help more, no matter what the sites all get slammed

i'm so excited, my favorite part is tracking the phone, i still have links to all the air traffic controlers!! ha!
 
Last year they allowed 2 phones per account from what I remember. Does anyone know for sure?

It would actually be good practice to update everything on your profile with apple.com or wherever you plan on ordering the new iPhone when it becomes available.

I've since updated all address (apple.com, credit card and carrier) to show my work address to ensure I would have no hiccups. I would also suggest if you're changing your address for this alone, do it a few days before pre-order is available (I did it now).

I don't want any casualties on my watch.

As a seasoned Amazon prime buyer I can say when its that special day for delivery I lay on my couch with one eye open, the door cracked and both dogs at the ready to wake me up if need be! Addresses should be lined up and updated perfectly, I can tell you I've had many orders that go through and get delivered with mismatched addresses but Apple is a stickler...

totally! also, make sure express pay is turned ON, that is how i bought the 5 quickly

For the iPhone 4 i literally pulled up a chair to my front door and napped with my dog in my lap...My Fedex guy barely knocks on my door and never rings the door bell.
Luckily my dog barked and woke me up! haha
 
Couldn't you pre-sign for the package in previous years? I thought I recalled that with the 5....

Thanks, I know you can use gift cards but wondered if you can store them early in order to use one click. You have to type in all the PIN numbers which takes time. I will be using two Gift cards.

we will find out soon enough, the only bummer is that i wish i could trade in my phones in advance to have the credit but then send it when the 6plus arrives! i know i would get more on ebay or where ever but i have a 5 i never even used as the phones i rec'd were so damaged that apple didn't bother to have me send the other one back, i kinda forgot until now, i wonder if i can unlock it though att, hmmmmm

you can't, sorry i should have said that, i have gift cards too but i would suggest buying with your express checkout card then in the next 2 weeks perhaps you could go to apple store and do a return/rebuy just say you forgot to use gift cards...

you can try but it gets so jammed that you will want to throw gift cards and current iPhone out window! i made a thread for apple.com pre orders so most people will be on forum to help out, as soon as my iPhone app worked i jumped on here and said get app on iPhones!! i can't remember but i think that was first time they did through the app as well....

the rules have changed a lot, i do know that the if the company requests sign only to shipper then shipper can not make any exceptions to the shipper's rules, it was ups with 5 i think.....

try both, have macrumors open, apple open + tmobile open plus your apps on your devices, no way to predict

i personally like apple.com and have always gone through them and when my phones were damaged last time apple was amazing so take that into account as well....
 
okay, so I am reading two different things.

I want my phone shipped to my job on Friday. Do I need to change my CC billing address, my ATT account address, or BOTH?

I have the same question, for the following reason:

I seem to recall when I ordered the 5 in 2012 that it was crucial that the shipping address for the iPhone match the billing address on the AT&T account. Or, put another way, they would only ship the iPhone to the address where you received your AT&T bill.

Since I wanted the phone shipped to my work, I change my shipping address with Apple and my billing address for AT&T to my work address. But I certainly don't recall changing the billing address on my credit card as well, and I received the phone just fine at work.

Does that sound accurate, or am I just not remembering that I also had to change the shipping address on my credit card? Because I'm pretty sure I didn't make that change.

I posted this in another thread but I feel like it should be shared here as we'll if not already mentioned.

I work for a decent size bank in their fraud department and I would advise people to call their respective credit card company and let them know about the purchase just to be safe, the combinations of weird time (12am-3am) to be placing a, the amount for some $800-$1,000+, and overall use cc companies see from apple.com by fraudsters might be enough for a companies fraud protection system to place a hold on their card and not allow the purchase until they speak with the customer. Just a heads up!!!
