Not sure what the issue is.. Everyone is looking for that amazing revolutionary thing like the first one.. but that simply doesn't exist.. In the end of the day the iPhone is going to be a smartphone.

The design is thinner, nicer, the screen is bigger, the cameras are better, A6 chip, 4G, everything inside the phone is upgraded. We have that fresh iOS6 and all its new features.. The iPhone is exactly what you would expect as an upgrade for an amazing product. In my opinion its a gem.

It boils down to that fact that Apple's appeal for a lot of people has never been how well the software works or how many neat features it has. Rather a lot of people got the 4 and 4S because they look nice.

I noticed few mentioned anything about the software features announced today. Everyone was hoping for something that looks amazing. And what we got was a stretched 4/S.

It's like if any of the major fashion house released a new collection where the design is the same but they changed the colour.

A stretched 4S? So its only the shape that matters to you? What about the back, the bottom, the top, the sides, the shell, the screen not expanding over a metal band, a "slate" back.. Someone needs glasses.

Agreed - NFC and wireless charging are both neat, but utterly useless technologies. I have NEVER seen an NFC terminal in any store I frequent (locally or travelling), and likely won't before the next generation of devices are out. Why should Apple waste R/D resources on a technology that may never take off?

On the wireless charging bit, it's cool, absolutely. But given that the device has to be on/near something plugged into the wall, how is that any more useful than just plugging the device DIRECTLY into the wall? And if you need to pick up the phone to call/text/whatever, wouldn't the phone stop charging (vs. a plug)? Isn't that actually LESS efficient?

You've never seen NFC because you aren't looking for it. Unless you never been to :

Best buy
McDonald's
GAP
Champs
Foot Locker
Wawa
7-11
Old Navy
Jack in the Box
American Eagle
Sunoco

And that's off the top of my head. Hell we have a coke machine in our building that accepts it.

I'm indifferent about the design. I don't like how the taller design only hurts old users (more information on the screen not bigger, this is esp. important in games since its an unfair advantage). At the same time I'm glad I'll get to use passbook since my 4S doesn't have NFC so I'm not missing out on that.

I just hope the new iPhone clears up some of Verizon's overcrowded 3G network.

It's horribly embarrassing for Apple. What have these people been doing for the last 12 months?

Sure its thinner but it does need a design redo...Just stretching the screen and putting a different back on it??? I am a hudge apple fan, but they miss the mark on this one. LTE is great for those that live in the network of LTE. Faster processor great also, but 4s has been fast for my usage. Would have enjoyed seeing a bigger screen in width also and turn by turn voice direction as a start

I have an S3 that replaced my 4s and I use NFC everyday. I can't believe people can't see the benefits of NFC...I just don't get it.

Not true, its one step at a time, NFC hasn't matured to where this would be a killer feature. Its simply just not there yet.

So you don't think Apple including it would lead to a massive push by retailers!? You clearly don't truly understand the amount of clout Apple has in the marketplace.

Exactly! Should be nice having Johny Ive's job... scratching his balls for 2 years, not bad...

They released a new iPhone, new iPod touch, iPod nano, iOS6 and had to manufacture and produce millions of iPhones, iPods in less than 12 months.. Considering the iPhone 4S came out in October.

Funny I thought most people use their phone looking at the front. And from the front it's a stretched 4/S more or less.

What you are saying is like if one of those expensive women's shoe companies made a new shoe that is different on the bottom, and side but looks exactly the same on the front it (where everyone see it) it would be call a new design.

Most of them are iphone users. It's the blind telling the blind what a cloud looks like.

Someone talking about NFC? Did anyone use S-Beam? can someone show me a faster way to transfer files between iPhone? did anyone use WiFi Direct?

The last 30 months really, as this isn't a drastic change from the iPhone 4 aesthetically speaking.

This is a FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION!

Judging by the price of Apple Stock they really don't have to wow
the very small percentage of us who even know the difference between
the iphone models - most think an iPhone is and iPhone - the taller screen is enough to set this one apart for the rest of the other 5 models in existence

That being said I am thrilled to see the true basics of a CELL PHONE FOR
MOBILE COMMUNICATION have been improved such as the mics!!

reception, call clarity, and battery life are still the most important factors in a cell phone when traveling and I do hope the BATTERY LIFE issues will prove to justify the stock price and the integrity of Apple Inc.

Is any of that going to matter seeing as 90% of people will put it straight in a case?
