It's not that I'm disappointed... I was just hoping for a couple of surprises because it's *fun* to be surprised.

This is a FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION!

Judging by the price of Apple Stock they really don't have to wow
the very small percentage of us who even know the difference between
the iphone models - most think an iPhone is and iPhone - the taller screen is enough to set this one apart for the rest of the other 5 models in existence

That being said I am thrilled to see the true basics of a CELL PHONE FOR
MOBILE COMMUNICATION have been improved such as the mics!!

reception, call clarity, and battery life are still the most important factors in a cell phone when traveling and I do hope the BATTERY LIFE issues will prove to justify the stock price and the integrity of Apple Inc.

Your sentiments are extremely similar to what Blackberry addicts used to say about RIM's products.

Most of them are iphone users. It's the blind telling the blind what a cloud looks like.

This.

Before the iPhone 5 announcement, "The Galaxy S3's display is too saturated!!!!!"

During the iPhone 5 announcement, "The iPhone 5 display has 44% more saturation."

After the iPhone 5 announcement, "Wooo more saturation for our iPhones!!! Take that Samsung!!!"

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

As someone who is currently a Galaxy Nexus user and living in Canada where Mastercard PayPass NFC terminals are abundant, not having NFC is really not that big of a deal (in terms of using it as a digital wallet anyway).

I used Google Wallet for the free $10 you start with and that was it. I stopped using it. Quite frankly, it's easier to just pull out my Mastercard.

Its a no from me...first time I will duck out on a new iPhone. My 4s does all I need. I don't care about weight or width as it goes straight into a very protective big case. The phone is fragile enough being made of glass so I need the protection and couldn't care less about 1mm thinner or whatever. Probably would prefer it was thicker and more heavy but with a much improved battery.

The camera is adequate and will never replace a proper one, panarama shots?...big deal.

And as for this:

"The handset also uses a new, smaller, socket for its charger. This means owners will need to use an adapter to plug the device into existing speakers and other equipment"

and the silly new sim shape?...well that's just taking the p***

So no thanks Apple.

Wow, guess I misjudged you girls. Enjoy your trendy fashion icon phones.

Men pick tools that get the job done well, and don't cry about their phone's appearance like some chick at a nail salon.

I'd be interested to know how this design affects call quality and noise reduction. IPhone has been poor for calls for a long time compared to the competition.

So you don't think Apple including it would lead to a massive push by retailers!? You clearly don't truly understand the amount of clout Apple has in the marketplace.

I think that is what many want; Apple to spearhead NFC, which would make it much more viable and useful overnight. Apple is the only company that can make NFC mainstream.

However, Apple probably has its own plans, and those plans probably don't involve giving Android and Windows phone a chance to piggy back off Apple's clout and ability to get things done with an NFC infrastructure.

Stop reading all the rumor sites if you don't want to be disappointed. At this point in the game it nothing apple or any other company really could do to blow people out of the water.

This is flawed thinking...of course Apple's stock is sky high, they have developed some great, life changing products. However, if you do not progress and improve upon even your own innovations, then that's when things go down the crapper.

It's like the economy...our damaged economy right now may very well be the result of policies in place 10 years ago or more. This lack of progression by Apple will catch up to them and things won't look so rosy in the not too distant future.

And the tools men pick to get the job done run on an Android OS.

+2...exactly!

Not true, its one step at a time, NFC hasn't matured to where this would be a killer feature. Its simply just not there yet.

NFC is used a good deal outside of the US and it can be used for more than banking features.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the iPhone5s with NFC in it, it will tie into Passport and NFC in the US won't be any further along than it is now.

i'm most curious to see how much this "2X faster" will actually translate into real world use. As a current 4S user, I just cannot see it being anything noticeably different.

LOL even the iPod touch got a bigger revamp (vs. last generation) than the iPhone 5 did (vs. iPhone 4S). I almost feel embarassed for Apple.

I think your absolutely right! The new iPod touch was the best product released today by far! And people saying "oh what can the gs3 do the iPhone can't"? Nothing, that's the problem. Their is not a single the the iPhone can do that the gs3 can't and that's sad! And 80% of those things it does better! Really apple? Navigation? Stomped in that area already. Siri improvements? Google voice blows it away hands down. This phone is already outdated, plain and simple! And honestly, I thinks the two tone is hideous! The iPod looks blow it away! Apple just isn't top dog anymore, plain and simple!!

For the people who are totally disappointed, what could Apple have done with the iPhone 5 for you to change your mind?

It's too late, it's all been said, and I must say the phone is no surprise. The leaks kept us well informed.

The phone will thrill those than haven't had any experience with any other brand. It will satisfy those who wanted the elongated narrow shape.

If this phone sells as predicted it will clearly prove, nothing matters other than the fact it's an iPhone. Apples margin on this one should be really astronomical.

So they end the keynote with the Foo Fighters. Guess they needed a distraction.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty...

No matter which carrier LTE/4G is not quite ready for prime time.

Give the carriers another year or so, then we'll have a much better idea. For now it's an excellent bullet point on Apples list of features.

No more, no less.

I think he was referring to the load time of apps and "snappiness" of the OS and apps, not so much the LTE.

Also, I think that LTE is more than just a bulletpoint. While I agree, the LTE infrastructure isn't all there yet, having it does offer some appreciable bandwidth increases over 3G. For sure.

Adapter is not $10... It shows as $29 on Apples website right now...

WOW...

-----------------------

Not a single surprise today... except for the adapter's price

What about its beautiful design.. I see the S3 its a piece of plastic with a big screen.. The iPhone is so elegant compared to those machines.

Looking at the pics on Apple.com now. It is a good looking phone for sure.
