what cradle are you using for all these?? do they all allow landscape mode and do all the apps??

Yep, all landscape & portrait - bought a cradle which rotates and fixes in multiple places (sucker to windscreen, clip to air vent etc) from amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002C77FIY/ref=ox_ya_oh_product

Wife uses a Kensington cradle because it's "cute" WTF....:)

Sad story - we have actually compared navigation by using both our iPhones in one car at the same time, same route, different software - this makes me want to kick the chair away, stand up and shout "I'm linuxJerk, I'm a iPhoneGPSaholic...HELP ME!!"

TomTom Benelux is 69,99 euros...
Pretty expensive for such a small area, and that for a Dutch company, shame on you TomTom! Still I might have been tempted to buy it if I had a 3G, but I'm stuck with a 2G iPhone.

Yeah, it's a standalone application with map content on your device. So no internet connection required...

Will this work with the new ipod touches coming out? I'm thinking of getting one to use as a PIM since I can't have an iPhone and it would be nice if it could do light duty GPS as well. My needs aren't too stringent, in face Google maps would suffice if it worked offline.

I haven't seen such an equally balanced positive/negative vote for a page 1 news story since Al Gore was given the Nobel Peace Prize. heh.

TomTom's iPhone page hasn't updated yet.

I want to know how much the cradle will cost, not to mention find out more details before I commit to buying

Since when was Holland an hour behind the UK?

It is, in fact, an hour ahead. Midnight in Greenwich is 1am in Amsterdam. Midnight in Amsterdam is 6pm in New York. Midnight in London, 7pm in New York GMT -5. Confusing isn't it. Worse than daylight savings time.

it's too expensive. for people that aready have a GPS, I think is better to pay for an upgrade $60.00 dollars and enjoy all of the new points of interests! I was expecting $70.00 or maybe $80... but over ONE hundrd you ned to give me a hell of a GPS service !

For people wondering about the rather high introduction price: think about the Dutch VAT (19%) and the additional "Apple tax" (30%). I mean that must make it harder, if not impossible, for companies like TomTom to offer their applications at a lower price tag ;)

That's because the application hasn't been released yet – please note that the cradle is a little most than just a cradle ;)

I've gone from being a TomTom fan and regular user to someone who'd experience a previously unknown depth of schadenfreude if they heard news the company had gone into administration or been caught doing something illegal in the financial stakes.

Yes, they've annoyed me off THAT much with this amateur and abortive launch. No information for over two months despite signing up for 'updates' is beyond a joke, as is this current 'surprise' release. That it's out now is irrelevant to me, too little too late. No soup for you TT.

So guess that means the Sept 22 is for the cradle. That is the only thing of any sort of interest to me now, as it remains the most minimal and elegant design of an iPhone cradle I've seen to date (Brodit doesn't count as they need permanent fixation to your car, usually below dash level). But TT will never get a cent of my money ever again for their software.

I pray to god the TT cradle will work with Navigon - I've been very impressed with this TT-killer, not just the UI, and 3D lane view (the exit/lane signs actually match the real life ones which is superb) but most of all because the default scale/aspect is perfect, you can clearly see your future route far ahead and in detail. It's what a late 2009 into 2010 satnav should look and work like, unlike the 'so 2003' TomTom. Speed cameras and full postcode search should be easy enough update for perfection.
I sympathize. I think that TomTom has been very unprofessional. However, until one has dealt with both Palm and the "steaming pile of failure," one really should not complain.

Well, seeing as it's rolling out and it's now Monday in the UK, I'd say it is released. Also, I know the cradle has built in features. I was just stating that the website has not been updated yet.

Believe it or not, I am an active member of this forum. Would you like to come down from your perch? Theres a good MR Member ;)

I have TomTom on my Palm Treo. My maps are two years old. They want more to update my maps than for this app.

LOL...so true - I've tried them all Sygic, Navigon, iGo, CoPilot....

I've spent more money on petrol trying them out than buying them...I really must get a life....

Is there such a thing as iPhone GPS App obsession?

I told the wife that TomTom was being released today - she hid the credit card.

BTW - She's tried them all as well - she votes Navigon most user friendly, hated Copilot. I'll stick with Sygic until I discover where the credit card is

Try saving the CC info in itunes next time.

I've been playing about with the UK one for the past hour or two. Its really good. Given that a price leak a week ago suggesting a whopping £130 - £60 is pretty good. Also, given that Navigo is around the same price, its competitively priced.

Video review is going up the now, will post direct link once its up.

I am surprised there is not a detailed review yet from someone on this app. Very curious. I bought Navigon a few weeks ago and it is truly awesome. Love the interface and it has taken me where i need to go even through the middle of nowhere in the poconos. Nonetheless, id still pay for the TT if it was clearly better and had better maps (not that Navigons is bad but maybe TT's is better). TTS is great but they will all have it by the end of this summer so that should not be the differentiator.

Looking forward to the first review....

It is now 3 hours until Monday in the US. I will nap in my chair until the witching hour.

That said, having watched the machinations of Apple and AT&T over the last few months, it will not surprise me if it does not come out here. I will have to use AT&T Navigator to go to the Hamptons tomorrow.

I might be missing the point, but isn't the price hight? You can buy a dedicated GPS system for this price, with a lot more features.

Yes, but the All-in-one convenience is a huge plus for some people. I like the idea, mainly because of the speed alert, actually. The speed limit signs in Utah are a joke. 1/2 of the streets don't have them, but the cops won't hesitate to pull you over for going 3 over. -_- It all depends on what you need it for.
