Picked up my plus from UPS last night and wanted to upgrade to 64gb and so my journey begins. Went to three Apple stores one sales associate told me theres more coming later in the week and the other two didn't mention anything about stocks. Location is Seattle.

Remember that the 'Reserve for pickup' stock is different than stock for people just "walking in off the street".

I want to believe that, but that contradicts with the information I was given both by a phone rep from the local store and from Apple online chat rep.

Right, many believe the stock is different, and their may be some stores that are reserving stock for some walk ins but it's not how most stores operate. I was told that the stock is the same, once a shipment arrives it gets scanned in. The stores do reserve any of the stock for walk in. So if you get on istocknow and see that no pluses are showing online, most likely the store does not have any at all.

I am assuming you mean for the 6? Nobody in DFW is showing any 6+ availability online and hasn't since last Wednesday.

It was for the 6+ I was in line, and walked out with a 6+ SG 128gb. They sold about 20, and still have stock when i left about noon.

Also this was walkup stock

Damn I wonder if austin was like this, I skipped this morning cause i figured there would be some kind of online inventory for any of them if I had a chance as walking in. Guess I'll try tomorrow morning, trying to get that exact phone

SWEET !!!! JUST Scored a iPhone 6 Plus 64GB Space Gray Verizon. I checked iStocknow said a store near me in CT had one I went to apple.com and reserved it for i store pickup. Hope to pick it up later tonight. SO glad I didn't get the dreaded can not process the order.

I got the alert and ordered my AT&T 64gb SG 6+ for pickup!! I'm on Next and I'm going to try the swap once I get there. It seems like it's 50/50 on whether the store will do it. Any suggestions? I know they need to not activate the contract phone and return it but possibly risk losing it to someone else. Anyone have any other tips? How about if I buy it in contract and then ask them to swap to Next a day later to get refunded everything, would that work?

Doing it on contract first and then coming back a day later would be no good. Especially if you open it, as they will not be able to resell it to you. The store may also not want to do it for you. I had called before and asked specifically if they would and was told yes, so when I went in to do it, they at first were kinda like no, it won't work, but then went ahead and did it for me once I told them I spoke with someone there who said I could do it.

They also said they had to warn me that once they return the phone, it goes back to inventory online and someone else could snag it. I told them I was a gambler and willing to risk it. Lol.

As to wether or not it will work is really dependent on ATT. If they reset your eligibility quickly, you will have no issues. If not, you may be sunk. For me, it reset almost instantly so it worked out fine.

I guess I missed out. They have Sprint and Verizon but are out of ATT.

I did the same thing. Worked just fine for me. I was swapping a 6 for a 6+ in the Apple store. Just be sure that you have your rep alert the AT&T Genius (all the Apple stores have one) so s/he can make sure that any potential pitfalls have been addressed before the phone you reserved returned so that you can buy it again. :)

Good luck!

Northern California not getting much love...

Neither is North Carolina. They hate us for our Northern-ness. ;)

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'm going to roll the dice this afternoon! Also, the reason I asked about switching the actual plan the next day was because I figured it would all be on the plan side of things and they wouldn't need to mess with the phone aside from the refund of the fees. Fingers crossed I get a knowledgable Apple Store employee today!

Considering the difficulty associated with actually scoring an iPhone 6 Plus, I have come to the following conclusion...

They don't actually exist. ;)
