bugelrex, is closed minded people like shaddad that rather be politically correct than face the real state of our country. Welfare and disability fraud is going to eventually bankrupt our country. I might sound insensitive but I don't think anyone on public assistance should have an iPhone. I was on unemployment last year for two months because me job was on summer recess and one of the first things I did was sell my smartphone to help pay some bills.
I do believe welfare and disability are essential services the government should provide. Infact, I would be willing to pay more taxes if only the fraud is stamped out.. its totally rampant in some immigrant circles. Getting back to scalpers, I don't care what they do, as long as they pay taxes on the gains and not involved in welfare fraud.

I don't know what you do for a living and it's not important. I can tell you I work in social services for a state. I am also fairly knowledgeable as to how other states run their social services programs. The state I work for has absolutely no ability to track welfare recipients spending habits on their personal accounts. We can request bank statements on accounts we know about only because the recipient tells us they have one. Bank statements are only requested for a specific program dealing with disabled individuals. I don't know of any other state that can track bank accounts.
You seem to think you know what you're talking about, but you're way off here. I wish states had the ability to track personal accounts to cut down on welfare fraud.
As for everyone else who is complaining about welfare fraud by undocumented recipients are worrying about a drop in the bucket. It is our US citizens that take advantage of the system and cost all of us a lot more money than the whole of undocumented recipients do.
This is a message board for people looking for iPhones and I find it funny that it seems it's ok to assume that the people who line up first in line at our local stores are undocumented welfare recipients. That's a huge leap to make and I would ask if anyone has proof that's the case and I'm guessing I won't see this proof.
I've spent at least 4 or 5 mornings waiting on launch days for the new product and I have never thought to myself those people in line ahead of me must be undocumented welfare recipients. I have thought they are crazy because I thought I was nuts to be there so early in the morning waiting for my new toy.

Immigrants? You do realize the largest class of recipients of welfare are white folks, right? The whole thing is a fraud. It's corporate subsidy and bread and circuses to purchase government loyalty and dependence from both the corporate class and the poor. It's the modern world version of Tammany Hall politicians handing out silver coins to herd the poor into the voting booths on election day, so long as they voted for the "right" candidate of course. In the end though, there's no difference between some inner city man defrauding the welfare office and a corporation lobbying for regulations that benefit him at the expense of his competition. It's how the system has been designed to work since the days of the railroads and canal builders.
Anyway, sorry to jump off topic. I'm sitting here with a bunch of money in my bank account and still can't get a Plus to buy!

To be clear, I'm referring to the scalpers in NYC, no idea about the rest of the country. Very familiar with the scalpers living in a specific part of NYC, Here's a run down of the welfare scams
- 5-8 year before retirement, hand over all assets to kids. This essentially makes u poor and entitled to welfare, free health care and housing
- new immigrants no longer get married "officially", live together and had kids, but the "wife" is registered as a single mom. Free welfare, housing and child costs
- new citizens sponser their parents into the country. The immigrated parents will not work a day in USA, pay no taxes but are eligible for welfare and housing benefits.
Again, this is NYC specific... The types of folks in line in NYC are very familiar to me, you can spot them a mile away if you are from the community.

I lined up last Tuesday myself and there was pretty decent stock in Sacramento anyway. Just no T-Mobiles. Now that I'm prepared to pay "device only" I'll be lining up again for a Verizon or AT&T phone Tuesday.
I'm in Sacramento, and that's the exact model I'm trying to get. However, I don't have the ability to stand in line in the morning, so I'm playing the in-store pickup game online.
For a while I've been had iStockNow alerts running for that specific model at the Sacramento and Roseville stores, but I have yet to get a single notification.

Interesting. Do you think this is another preorder stock type situation like Target and Best Buy or a legit walk in and buy one scenario?
Also, I wonder if they handle NEXT upgrades.
I'm not sure how best buy works, but if it was purchased from Apple Retail Store as "Device Only" for AT&T, it will be unlocked.
I got AT&T 6 Plus at "Device Only", went home, hooked it up to itunes and viola, I got the congrats message telling me that it is unlocked.
Well said...However we have bigger issues with families who aren't poor who also abuse the system especially with EBT cards and insurance...Not to mention tax credits...

Looks like the Central Valley store rarely get the sg 64 plus. Ended up putting an alert for the expanding area and was able to pick one up in San jose.
At an Apple Store? Good for you man. I'm starting to hesitate over getting "device only" phones. For the models I want, that's almost $2000 out the door. This is one thing that sucks about being with T-Mobile. Your options for buying the new phone is either get one somewhere else and pay full price up front, or order through them and end up waiting 2 months.
Wish I hadn't switched carriers until AFTER I'd gotten my phones. I mean, T-Mobile would've paid the ETFs anyway.
