Welp, it's about 140am. I'm giving up. Guess that 1am stock refresh tip wasn't on point. :/
the apple rep told me its the only way to do it for personal pickup which was the whole thesis of my post earlier. she suggested I could fight it with verizon and should win but verizon seems to care very little about making anyone happy in my recent experiences. the contract should be the same but who knows with verizon.
the personal pickup thing is a joke to me though, I can
a. pay fees I shouldnt have to pay and be guaranteed the phone or,
b. spend 15-20 minutes on the phone to get someone in the store and then hope the phone is still there by the time i drive 30-40 minutes each way to and from the store.
oh and the inventories aren't even the same. the store 40 minutes from me had one for personal pick up but not for a walk in.
i realize this phone is hot but its crazy to me how little any of these reps seem to care that you are spending $750-$1000 on a phone...it should not be this hard to spend so much money. when i worked retail i would be kissing someones shoes if they were spending that kind of money
Wow so this is really a joke of a situation. I will definitely dispute any upgrade fees and raise HECK, to put it nicely, over any contract agreement. This is definitely a bad way to do business when the system can be refined to prevent this. I almost want to return my unicorn of a phone before the two weeks is up lol.
When you pick it up from the Apple Store they scan the phone and the sim in the phone became active immediately. I tried to make a call on my 5s and the sim was already inactive so I had to open up the new phone and take the sim out and insert it in my current phone just to have service.
We can easily dispute the upgrade fee, if we get charged, and have it nullified. They can't charge that fee on full retail as you pointed out, per their own wording. I'm just very curious with contract extension and how that plays out. I don't know if my contract is still extended from my preorder upgrade with the 6 or if it is related to the plus I picked up in store.
In short, when you pick up your phone it will be active and ready to go bc they do a "scan activation" in store. I did not know this until I walked back in and asked them why my phone no longer had service. The Apple employee told me bc it was a "contract" purchase. She said there was off contract purchase and contract purchase. I'm pretty literate with this stuff, but I am lost within this mess.
If you log into your online account you can see your contract end date, that should adjust immediately I believe if they do actually try to tack on an extra two years to our agreement.
However, I am not sure why it was a "contract" purchase though if you paid the full price for the phone. I just placed my order but will try I guess to have them not scan activate as I don't want verizon trying to change the "upgrade fee" to an "activation fee".
Man didn't realize spending money was so hard...
What I would do in your case is make a return and repurchase it for full retail in the store. This will reverse any "contract" stuff we did online and avoid any upgrade fees, that shouldn't be paid anyways.
My contract date is still extended through 2016 after my return of the upgraded 6. She told me to wait another day, so if it hasn't changed by the time I noon rolls around I'll be calling and demanding them to force the reversal through as others have done. If it shows the extension is attached to the 6+ then I have another problem to deal with. Definitely try to cancel the purchase in store and then rebuy that same phone "off contract". Saves you the trouble of what some of us others are going through. This has been WAY too complicated and unnecessary.
I appreciate your help and sorry I have so many questions but do I go through with picking it up if I need to return and repurchase or just ask to cancel the preorder and buy the phone while in the store?
Im not too sure of the specifics of that, but I would simply ask if you could cancel the order and then repurchase in store and go from there. This is a workaround and surely they have had to deal with it as I've seen a few people on here say they have done it. If I was smarter at the time, I would have done the return/rebuy method. Let us know how it goes and what they say about the fees and contract stuff, if you ask.
This mean you should have a "decent" delivery time for an online order at ATT.
You may also have a look at their store locator (we can't add it unfortunately for now).
Curious, if the device ever needs to be replaced in London, is there an issue as you have a US spec'd model which is technically different to ones sold in UK (but practically the same).? Since they dont sell the identical unit in UK
Enjoy with it lasts!
I love how all your tabs are i6 related!
