No offence but what a stupid question . Sorry, but it has nothing to do with how you look, if someone wants to rob you they will. So you are saying all 16 year olds are easy targets??? Such a generalised statement leads me to assume you must be about 16?

Just to clarify my original post, everyone falls in to one of the three catagories (some more easily than others), and I personally fall under the second. I use my iPhone everywhere, and love it, but I am always carefull and sensible with my surroundings, just in case!

Thanks for all the input though!!! One other question, those that say they pay insurance premiums so they can be a 3, do you take the same attitude with driving?!?! :(
no offense taken but you obviously didnt read my hypothetical statement as it were supposed to be read.... I hypothetically used 16y/o's as a description.

and your wrong it has a lot to do with how you look. How many cops do you see on the news that got robbed while in uniform? NONE! Why is that, because of the way they look.. ie being in uniform. Maybe its because they SAW the gun... another reason they look like someone you dont want to mess with.

My point is take a few punk kids that are looking to mug someone, they see 2 people walking down the road. 1st is guy 5'6" 145lbs wearing a suit and tie, guy number 2 is 6'3" 275 lbs of nothing but pure muscle. Guy one has a suit and tie, guy two has full sleeve of tatoos, huge earings, and look slike an all around badass. Who do you think the punks are gonna mess with? Number 1, and based solely on looks. For all they know guy number one is a mixed martials arts instructor, but based on the fact that he doesnt look near as much of a threat to them as the big guy, they would go after him first.

and no I am 28 thanks, so I dont speak from imaturity I speak from my experiences as a man.

OK, I take your point. We will have to agree to disagree on this one :D

I would have to say I'm definitely a three..I've been a 3 since June 29,2007. I see no reason to own a phone we are afraid to use in public.

Reading through these posts I realize one thing.

WHERE YOU LIVE <---- seems to be a factor in fear of theft.

Following quote from a recent news story broadcast on CBS radio in the USA.
Europeans are generally more frightened of losing their mobile phone than say Americans.

The story went on to explain how Europeans/British put so much of their lives into their cell phones. I guess they become so dependent on the device in their daily lives that to have one yanked from them would be somewhat devastating.

I for one do not fear being robbed for my Cell Phone. I do not live my life in fear of anything, to the point it controls me.

I carry enough cash on a daily basis to purchase a replacement as soon as one if lost. It is that CASH that makes me cautious.

I travel in ares where one can be a target just for being WHITE!!!

I live in Harford County, Maryland but all too often am in Baltimore City, Maryland on business.e

Not Worried

If you're concerned about someone nabbing your iPhone, try activating a passcode on it...

And if they try to hook the iPhone to their computer... they couldn't use it without your account info, right? It's activated by a single carrier... and if you get a new phone... the account would transfer to the new phone and the old one would be useless.

A stolen iPhone isn't much better than a paperweight...

I'm not afraid to whip mine out almost anywhere... perhaps I don't flash it around in questionable neighborhoods... but the same goes for my wallet.
