Q: On what date will the 50 members with the highest post counts all have 10,000 or more posts?
A: March 16, 2010. It's a Tuesday.

Entry made in iCal for 1/1/10 to check how you're doing.

Pretty cool.
So I'm not understanding, this shows the top posters from 2008?
Well since I joined July 29th... maybe next year.

EDIT. I would be on here more but school gets in the way. Bleh.

It shows the top fifty all-time posters here on MacRumors, not just from the last year. Indeed, there are some people in the top fifty who didn't even post in 2008 – they built up a high post count over time and then left for one reason or another.

Ah. I get it. I wish they would do a one for the year as well, as it'll take me forever to get up there (even if I tried hard, which I don't, it'd just be cool to be on that list).

The stats are a fun thing to look at every 6 months but post count is pretty meaningless. All the top posters have only one thing in common, longevity on the forums. That speaks to the quality of the site.

I think I'm seeing too many people who think it's a contest. It is not.

maybe a top 100 is in order now with the huge amount of members!

i say that as i would make that list:p

Always thinking about yourself, aren't you? :p ;) :D

Agreed - all the top posters have several years on with MacRumors, which is nice to see. I don't care about post count either, and am glad that the "Members" section of the site was disabled/hidden, as I am guessing a lot of members would check that out to see where they "ranked". Really not necessary in my opinion....

Indeed, just look at the shortest time of membership being 2.8 years (with the second shortest 3.0 years, i.e. Me) that is a long-long time to be actively particpating on one website primiarly focused around fixing problems and talking about apple rumors.

MR ftw.

While the good Doctor's six monthly calculations are always an interesting diversion, it really can't be stressed enough that the number of posts you have to your name isn't the be all and end all of life here on MacRumors. It's the members who take the time to make well thought out posts that are helpful, thought-provoking, and entertaining who are the ones who really stick in people's minds for the right reasons. ;)

whats great about this website is that you can talk about any topic as well as have access to an incredible knowledge base concerning tools many use for work. In other words, its a 24/7 tech support as well as community

I have yet to find another great forum

I still remember my first post lol

It is surprising how often we give each other advice about everything from tourism to family matters to exercise, and even help with math homework now and then. Come for the Macs, stay for the Mac community.

Years ago, each forum member's post count was shown next to their posts. That display was removed to discourage posting to build up post counts. When the Members List was removed from the menu bar, it was for performance reasons but probably helped the anti-forum-spam cause as well. These statistics threads may be the sole culprit now, which is rather embarrassing since I'm on the team that tries to keep the forums as useful as possible. But I was a math geek first, so I'll have to risk it.

I think that is a key here. Our affection for Macs lure us in and then we stay for the community.

Naturally! :)

Got to give him a better challenge than that. :p

Knowing Dr. Q, he probably just saw 7 without even thinking about it. :)

Yeah, I'll have to incorporate a Fibonacci sequence into my next lucky number and see who figures it out... ;) :D

Anyway, looking forward to the "end of time" predictions and so forth - whenever Doctor Q has the time, of course, he's a very busy man.... :)

Who's "they"? Doctor Q did it. That's it. If you want it expanded to Top 100 posters, I guess we'd all greatly appreciate it if you put the time to do it for us. ;)

This is all a gift....one that we all appreciate. If Q did not want to do this, this tradition would stop dead in its tracks. Think about how much work this must be.

Agreed x 100. I don't know what my post count is, or care. Nobody considers a high post count on an internet forum to be a life achievement that you'd brag about to friends and such. It's not going on my resumé/CV. I'm not going to print out the table and hang it beside my degrees, family photos, or awards.

I get a jolt every 6 months when Q does the tally, but it's not like I chose to be this cool. :p We all have a bit of time on our hands, and instead of watching TV for 5 hours a day, play video games for 4 hours, or drink alone in the dark, we spend our leisure time posting here.
