I find it interesting how the mods have closed some ATT throttling threads when they were still going strong.

I realize they said that there were to many, but it is a users forum and if thats what people want to talk about then why shut down threads with over 15 pages and still going?

Do you think ATT placed some pressure on MR to stop the chatter?

Like I said in a post on one of those threads, even ATT trolls were helping the issue, because they kept the threads alive, now the next day and the threads are killed even though obviously people are interested in them.

I also saw an article on fox about throttling yesterday.

Seems very odd to me, or at the very least extremely coincidental:rolleyes:

Yes, there has to be a grand conspiracy going on. It couldn't be that there was no reason to have a dozen of nearly identical threads (which only effect a small amount of the MR community) continuing at once.

I just signed this petition at change.org and I would suggest that anyone else who is pissed about AT&T and their throttling practices lately sign it too and get the word out. As someone wrote in a blog I just read, "If there aren't enough seats at the table, don't invite more people!".

http://www.change.org/petitions/att-data-throttle

thanks

i am goin to sign it right now

Yes, AT&T told MacRumors to stop the threads, us ATT trolls got to them! I wish the weed i smoked was half as good as what you smoke. That weed you have makes you dream up some interesting stuff, I'd love to try.

I dont appreciate the derogatory personal comments, however I do like the fact that you are now publicly admitting to being an ATT activist (troll is such an ugly word).

I know that I reported one thread earlier today. We don't need 20 threads basically saying the same thing.

wasn't a personal comment, i was talking about your weed!

And yes I am an ATT troll, i work for ATT, my dads the president, my moms the COO, my wife is the VP, yada yada yada yada....

So how's the fight going for ya? has any of your actions done anything yet????......exactly.

As a matter of fact yes. My firing ATT action got me a new Galaxy Nexus and a new unlimited Verizon LTE plan with unlimited LTE hotspot. I am very happy with the outcome of my actions.

I can only hope that you are just as happy with the outcome of your actions.

Why would anybody have an issue with people voicing their opinion about AT&T throttling? To add, this idea that there are other, better options out there, so "stop your crying"... makes no sense.

There are no real options out there... all major providers are all about the same...Unfortunately, when was the last time an "oligopoly" or "monopoly" was dealt with in this country. I know we're talking about cell phones here, but I think consumers should have the right to take issues to government issues and the idea of, "shut up and take your business elsewhere", doesn't work here...

I'm not a major conspiracy theorists here, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that these multi-million/billion dollars companies are smart enough to see that if they all charge about the same they continue to make profits... especially when our "public" agency's, designed to help protect consumer rights, don't do it effectively or efficiently.

Find me a company that provides the same "unlimited" data that AT&T did a couple months ago (the non-throttled), whose services work in my region, and I'd be happy to take my business there.

NOTE: Sprint and Verizon are the same thing as AT&T...please don't say them

Hmm, well that may be your definition of activist, however mine is more in line with the dictionary

1.an especially active, vigorous advocate of a cause.

You seem to fit that bill in my eyes. I may be wrong though, I will let your actions be the deciding factor.

If you're gone, then why bother with these threads??

Glad you enjoy Verizon, guess you have no beef with AT&T so this entire thread means nothing for you now. So see ya! Enjoy your new phone, loved playing with my cousins Nexus, quality stuff. Anyway, see ya! I'm glad your acitivism made you jump ship ;)

Seriously, why are you bothering to post here at all? We complain about #ATTfail. You complain about US. You are doing the exact same thing we are, but OPINING that we are wrong.

It's cell phone data plan users you are worked up about. CELL PHONE DATA PLAN USERS!

Wait, you think something is going to get BETTER with LTE??? Sooner or later Verizon/Sprint/whoever is going to drop all unlimited, or drop a throttling limit lower, or jack your tiered prices up for less data. If they know #ATTfail can do it, then they can get away with it too.

Again, what are you trying to contribute to a thread you disagree with, and won't be affected by? I honestly don't understand why you are here.

Thank You.

Why am I here? Because I enjoy watching adults piss and moan....thinking that starting online petitions and posting on message boards will "force" At&t to reconsider.

I am here for the comedic value, nothing more....

A family member of mine has. He stated that they are looking into the complaints . But he does practice some law and stated they might get away with it on a technicality. There is no where saying they are promising you certain speeds or cell coverage for the matter of fact. However it will just be a PR backlash, which what people are complaining about. So the question to ATT is, whats more important to you - customer satisfaction or more money.

I would ask you this same question. You said you left the unlimited plan. You clearly have "no dog in this fight". So why do you continue to hound those who would want to discuss and gripe about AT&T throttling?

GO AWAY. GO AWAY. you have nothing productive to add. GO AWAY.

The funny thing is that ATT is throttling because they want to "manage their infrastucture more evenly" and get people to use their hotspots as much as possible. I was next door to a local Starbucks today and I ran speedtest on my iPhone to see how the wifi was ....... 1.20 Mbps. I then turned off my wifi and checked the 3G speed ..... 3.07 Mbps. Maybe if they want me to use my unlimited data less, they should start by making their hotspots at least as hot as 3G.

Wait till you try LTE. I've yet to see a public hotspot that is faster than my ATT Elevate.

What PR backlash?

Even if this continues to grow and mainstream news outlets pick it up, AT&T will simply make the same statement they've been...that they are throttling only 5% of an already small group of their customers- customers who also account for the vast majority of the data usage.

Apple forced them into offering unlimited, the market grew quicker than expected, and, in order to make the network usable by all of their customers, they were forced to either throttle those whom they feel abuse data or raise rates and reduce service for everyone.

They'll paint the picture that those being throttled are the cause of slower signals, dropped calls, and widespread famine in Africa...and the masses will buy it.

In the end, AT&T gets their way, those throttled are blamed for everything, and the 5% look like not only the bad guys, but complainers who want more than their fair share.

Don't believe me? Just look at plenty of the reactions here...and these are tech people who generally understand data usage and how things work.

Again, not saying AT&T is morally right or that I'm on their side (even though I'm sure I'll continue to be labeled a worker of them).

All that needs to be understood is this:

You can't tell me I'm abusing the network at 2 GB of data.

Their own data plans as of today are 3 GB & 5 GB. The 3 GB plan is the same price as my unlimited.

So please, someone, anyone, explain to me how I'm abusing the network at 2 GB.

If you ask ATT your abusing it because your on unlimited. If you had 5gb and were in tiered pricing your not abusing.

I agree... I read in a post somewhere (too many to look through) that on a phone call to AT&T, the AT&T rep told him/her that being on an "unlimited plan" is *deemed* to be an abuser. Go figure...
