Do you have a case on?

I posted a video but basically hold phone in your right palm without a case so that the camera control goes into the meat of your palm under your thumb. Then try to reach across the screen with your thumb and try to tap the upper-left corner. The screen becomes unresponsive for a few seconds.
Just tried it exactly as you described on her 16PM, no case, with a Spigen Glas.TR screen protector installed. Can't replicate it, it still swipes/taps normally.

I am not having this issue with my 16PM. This is the first year I opted not to do a screen protector and I have mine in a Apple Silicone Case if info helps anyone

Hey!

I just got my 16 Pro Max yesterday and it is a great phone. But I am having serious issues with the touch sensitivity on the display. I am using a Belkin Screen Protector installed by the staff at Apple Store and I notice that the screen is sometimes unresponsive to touch. It is most apparent while typing on the keyboard or playing games that require lots of touch actions.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue? I consider removing the screen protector to see if it helps but I am not very keen on using a $1500 phone unprotected.

Hoping that it is a software issue and not hardware.

Yes! I really thought this was just me. Question is, what’s to blame? The phone or the screen protector? I notice this the most when typing very quickly.

It's the phone's fault. This should be a software issue. I guess they modified the anti-mis-touch algorithm due to the narrowing of the screen bezel, and this algorithm currently has problems.

This is also a problem on my 16 Pro. I’ve had issues with the leftmost upper button in the mail app since launch day and thought I had a faulty display. Anecdotally testing after seeing this thread and it does appear to only occur when my hand is also on the screen near the capture control.

I encourage all of you having the issues to report it here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone/

That way they will get flooded with feedback and hopefully solve it quickly with a software update.

Thanks.

WOW! Thank God for this forum, for I thought I was the only one having an issue with the touch screen, and I too had Verizon put on a screen protector for mine as well. I have the 16 Pro max.

Well, from all I read and correct me if I am wrong, the trouble with lag sensitivity touch appears to be the device, and so do you think they would recall the iphone 16"s?

I too noticed this when switching between my old 14 plus and the 16PM. I have tap firmer or tap again for the screen to register.

Both phones have screen protectors on right from unboxing them so I don't know if its any better without the protector on the 16 PM.

Since installing an ESR protector I am now having this issue, wasn’t an issue with no screen protector.

Yes, this is really bad. The touch screen becomes unresponsive for a few seconds and then kicks in.

Took a quick video and it’s happening across all apps not just the one in the video.

Hoping it’s not a factory defect!

You know what I see in your vid? I see the palm of your hand resting on the screen as you’re trying to tap back. Pretty sure doing this will cause the issue you’re seeing. Notice how this is with the “Pro Max” phones. The phone is bigger and there’s a smaller bezel. Lots of touch points will cause it not to respond.

16 Pro Max here w/screen protector. No issues at all.

The issue is the camera control button. If your skin touches it while trying to use the touch screen, it locks up.

I was just at the Apple Store and every demo 16 Pro and Pro Max had the issue. The employee’s phones did too. It’s just that bit of screen next to the camera control. It’s a problem for right-handed people who don’t have a case on their phone.

I have 2 16PMs in front of me. One does it, one does not. Both on same software.

Ok , so for all who thinks that this is because of new cammera button , try this.
Go in settings , acesibility , phisical & motor and find camera button. Turn this feature of , if it os causing the issues , issues will be gone , and you will be able to use camera the old way.
Let me know is there an improvement

Same issue with my 16 PM on 18.1 B4, seems to be ignoring touch input at random. Thought I would check here and it’s great to see I’m not alone. Makes using and even typing a pain in the ass. 18.1 B4 was perfect on the 15 PM so it’s hopefully it’s just a software bug.

If its a sofware bug , man just said that he has two pro max 16z
One with issue and other wothout…..
So?
Its a bug that attacks some but somw not?

What are versions of your two iphones
How many gb , maybe that play role?
256 , 512 , 1tb?

I dont think that its a software bug , or screen protector issue.
It is or a dispaly issue , or camera button issue , or some kind of hardware issue
