Also wondering if 18.4 fixed anything. Is there a high sensitivity toggle like that one poster here was claiming a few weeks ago??
up to now 18.4 beta issue seems to have no change related to touch performance. it is not even mentioned by apple once. it seems that the words of that apple technician are just comfort for people here.

Okay thanks for confirming. Time to go waste Apple employees time at the store and get as many replacements devices as I can.

What’s interesting is I was able to test a demo unit yesterday and that screen was super super sensitive like any other older iPhone. Now I’m wondering if that’s only because it didn’t have a protector on. Or if it’s possible to get a unit with working touch

With protector it works more or less. Without protector it works 99.9%. That was my case. My current 16 Pro works 100% with protector.

Today I visited Apple Store and bought a 16 Pro. Had to swap phone 2 times to get a good image sensor without the blue lines issue. The staff was incredibly helpful.

Now I have a 16 Pro with great sensor and absolutely zero touch issues. Incredibly snappy. Will sell my 16 Pro Max.

Not that I want to sound like a hype beast but the difference in touch response with this 16 Pro is h-u-g-e. Pro Max is really broken this year.
15 Pro Max was broken last year, too, from my own personal experience. 🤣

My 16 Pro Max actually works as I would expect it to (no screen protector), but my two 15 Pro Max touchscreens don't work properly along the top edge and glitch out and refuse to let you pull down the notification center at least 50% of the time. And Apple refused to replace the 15 Pro Maxes, even after I sat in the Genius Bar and showed it to them and had them admit that they shouldn't be doing that...o_O

How did that work, they let you unbox the phone and process a refund twice (so you opened 3 new phones)?

Welcome to the club! iPhone 16 Pro flawless here.

I would prefer the Max for a bigger display and more battery life but with the lag that is going on I will surely stay with regular Pro which feels like a completely different phone. I am happy that the camera is the same this year.

I purchased a 16 Pro Max last weekend, it has a Samsung G9N screen, and the battery was manufactured in January. Out of the box it had no touch issues, however after I installed a Torras Diamand Shield screen protector I had horrible touch issues. I ended up removing that screen protector and today tried the Belkin UltraGlass 2 from Apple which is working much better.

The Belkin touch response isn't perfect, but compared to no screen protector it's 99% as responsive.

Let me preface with I have a Flolab protector on. I went to Apple. They tried the diagnostics display test and the person helping me spent a LONG time getting the corners to light up. Like trying for over 30 seconds before the corners would light up. And it’s considered a pass, so they told me to call Apple if I truly want a replacement and sent me on my way.

Is there any protectors that aren’t $50 that don’t ruin the touch?? I’m going crazy with this phone. The touch SUCKS.

I also have G9N, does yours shift blue slightly off axis?

No, I tried all the expensive and cheap screen protectors, they all decrease the response to touch. The only one that behaved relatively well was the hydrogel one. Finally I used it without protection, then I returned it and bought a 16 Pro, which has no problem. It works flawlessly. Greetings!

Mine does slightly shift blue off axis, but looking straight on it's uniform and bright. The touch does suck, but try the Belkin from apple. Yes it's expensive, but the touch response is much better than other screen protectors.

I found a thinner screen protector. Specifically 0.29mm according to the manufacturer. Compared to the previous protector which was 0.71mm thick, this new protector gives a much better typing feeling on the screen. The touch sensitivity is significantly improved. Testing the light touch test, it got quite good results, although still not as good as my previous 15PM.

New screen protector introduced only 0.29mm thick

I'm going to have to buy a Belkin screen protector aren't i? I found one that is 0.33 and still have issues. Are there any thinner screeb protectors that aren't really expensive? Thanks

Belkin UltraGlass 2 as I mentioned above. 0.29mm thick.

bought a iphone 16 pro to test along with my Iphone 16 PM and its not perfect as i was expected. Its better but not perfect. Both phones have a LG screen. Im tending to think that LG screen are not performing as it should. Looking to get my hand into a Samsung Panel iphone 16 Pro PM and test it out with and without screen protector.

You can get the Belkin right now for $5 from Woot (Amazon).

That’s a great deal. It is the protector that Apple applies in store right? So touch performance should be good

The Flolab I’m using now is .33 mm thick. Such a small difference but maybe the anti glare coating within the glass is what hurts touch?
