So apple sells this one screen protector that helps with touch sensitivity?????? Interesting
Seems like it. But I hear mixed things about it. Some say it helps a lot. Some say touch is still bad. So I don’t know. But for $5 I’m willing to try it and at that point I might have a case for replacement. But I gotta say Apple support sucks. They do everything to reject giving a replacement.

And the reviews aren't great for it either.

They know that 50% of 16pro max have touch issue.
Same people are hurry up for this problem, are don’t see it.

I’m using iOS 18.4 beta and I have to say that my touch screen haven’t been this responsive since release! I’m happy. No issues near the camera control button.

Have you previously experienced touch issues specifically with the near camera control button, rather than with light touches across the entire screen? Do you use a screen protector?

I do use a screen protector yes. From Spigen. Till iOS 18.4 I expierenced minor improvements with each release. But it was still noticeable. Now with iOS 18.4 beta I don’t have the idea that my touchscreen is defective. It’s working amazing. For your information: when I bought my 16PM on release day, I had the idea my phone was defective. The screen near the camera control button was not working sometimes so I was missing inputs.

This text has been writen from my 16PM and i’m satisfied.

ios 18.3.2 update seems to help with the sensitivity. Need to play with it more to be sure but so far better

Better but still not great
I would guess that any software updates that make this issue "better" are all placebo effect. With any extended testing I'm sure it will be the same as before.

I just don't know what Apple could do software-wise to fix it. If some people's phones work fine and some don't, then I don't see how that's not a hardware problem

Totally agree.

What’s crazy is how people can go through 2 or 3 devices and still have the issue. Is it really affecting this many devices? And what further complicates this is how certain brands of protectors exacerbate the issue. I’m using a Belkin ultra glass 2 and while this protector sucks, the touch works mostly ok now. And I really can’t tell any difference with 18.3.4 so I’m going to say it’s placebo for some people.

Very orrible protection belkin ultra glass2 24euros for nothing.
Now I use hydrogel protection, don’t have same sensation of glass but it working very good than glass.
It’s very strange ‘cause my dad have 16pm Bayern built september have a esr screen low quality and works very good.
I changed 3 phones and don’t find a perfect.
This year Apple for me was a ****! Very ****

i updated to ios 18.3.2 and tested the light touch test. as expected, the touch issue is still not fixed, absolutely no change from the previous version. people who see improvement after each update may be due to the placebo effect or their hands are getting used to having to touch harder without them even realizing it.

For to resolve touch issue by update it will be a miracle.

I got my iPhone 16 Pro on launch day, never had any touch issues. Never installed any beta software, never installed a screen protector and its case less. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Depending on what the touchscreen is registering and if there is a pattern they could override inputs with certain parameters in certain areas. Though this will obviously have potential to negatively affect devices that already perform well if that’s released as the default setting…

Yeah, that's not even remotely a possibility, for a lot of reasons.
