Why would you let something like that bother you? It's nothing. Some people just want to keep pushing how 'superior' their products are. Just like the personality of many Apple users who were clamoring how 3.5'' was the best size. People get way too attached to device's they will throw away years from now.

I wasn't bothered. It was hard not to correct him on something that was fact (Apple's 1984 commercial taunting IBM) instead of opinion (phone Y is better than phone X). I had a good laugh about it later.

Honestly I don't think he's too far off.

A year ago, 90% of the users here would have argued that any screen size larger than 4" would be way too big and impractical.

Now that Apple has done a complete 180 degree turn and decided that they were so terribly wrong about the 4" screen that they couldn't even be bothered to keep it in their phone line-up, 90% of the users are now raving about how awesome their new 4.7" and 5.5" screens are. After so many years of Android users trying to convince Apple users that bigger screens are better, iSheeps only decide that it's okay to have a bigger screen after Apple goes ahead and gives their approval.

I'd agree with this. I give props to some of the users here refuisng to get a 6 because it's bigger and they always said they don't want a bigger phone. But a lot of peeps gave Android users crap for large phones, that it is ''not needed''. Sorry, but it DOES look like a brainwashing tactic. And it's not because ''oh, the technology got better''. In many ways, the 6 Plus is BIGGER than the Note 3. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Same thing happens with Android phones. Samsung releases plastic for years ''I don't care''. As soon as they improve build quality, it's the best thing since sliced bread.

You wont find iphone users hanging around the line for a galaxy s6 or a new htc one. They're content with what they have and dont need to go on a smartphone jihad to reassure their purchases.

Same reason why there are nowhere near as many iphone users posting on androidcentral forums than android users posting on the other devices subforum here.

I never went to Android forums, or even the one here (alternative to iPhone). Just see no reason to waste my time there. Couldn't care less about Android, as long as I'm happy with iOS.

I understand the sentiment. But for some users of larger phones that got made fun of for having it, now people are ''wowed'' by the iPhone 6/Plus.

Although, ultimately it's not a ''hey phone x is finally this size, I like it''. A bigger iPhone is still not Android and vice versa. For me, I still can't get Infinity Blade on my Note 3, so playing on my 6 Plus will make a difference.

Curious as to what ways the 6 Plus is bigger than Note 3? Besides length (width is shorter). And thinness is about same.

Also, don't confuse users with Apple the company. I wrote a post about why Apple didn't make large phones and now why they have. The difference is Samsung just makes it bigger (and other Android phone makers) with ill regard to consequences whereas Apple waits until it gets it just right. There were problems with large phones back then. And these problems only went away recently (Samsung's displays got better, battery life got better but usability stayed the same). Apple introduced Reachability, battery life improved, display tech improved, etc.

Yea I definitely feel like some people don't get Apple (or Samsung or any other company) and end up embarrassing themselves.

I did not know Android doesn't have Infinity Blade. It it flat out not in Google Play or does it not work properly?

Trolls in front of Apple Store

I don't think you can compare opinions expressed on the Internet in places like this to somebody stood outside an Apple shop mocking people buying iPhones.

It's one thing taking a few moments to type opinions online and another actually making the effort, not to mention the public embarrassment of doing it in a public street. Unless the guy is paid to do it, you have to question his sanity.

I'm not sure if Apple has a special contract with Epic Games or not, but Infinity Blade is not there. Ironically enough, the Epic Citadel demo JUST got there last year I think. That happens with a lot of software on Android vs iOS.

For me, there's a lot of features that I just know Apple will include (NFC for example) but like you said Apple waits for it to mature. Android tends to push a lot of features out, but it's not universal. NFC isn't even on half the Android phones out there and it's been out for a few years. But they are able to test some of the markets to see what sticks. I just hate when people say ''I absolutely don't want that feature'' only to turn around when Apple makes it. I'm not saying that Apple doesn't do a good job. It's just that many don't even say, ''Hey, that features cool...but it'll drain battery and I don't want it right now''.

They're shooting a TV commercial. Look for a microphone and a long-distance camera.

BJ

Could be. Kind of like reality TV show, waiting for iPhone customers reaction. They're scum enough to do it, that's for sure.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was a Samsung "marketing" campaign.

Were the commercials Samsung ran making fun of iPhone users actual footage? Some commercials (like some of Amazon Kindle) have this disclaimer at the bottom saying it was actual footage shot in real life and not scripted/acted).

word i will glady quit my job to be a full time troll :)

Ask around. I'm sure there're some here. If they paid someone to do it in front of Apple store, it'd be much easier to hire someone to do it online, and much cheaper too.

I've seen people do this in the Microsoft Store before, dissing the Surface for the iPad.

I honestly can't stand the practice. And I dislike attack ads. It's terrible to do. I like friendly competition, but hate with effort takes on a whole 'nother level.

People seem to forget that sometimes your lifestyle prevents you from always ''going to the competition''. Some work places require iPhones. Some make you use excel. I think copying from the competition is a healthy compromise for many.

Personally, I don't blindly go "I hate X because entity Y hates X". I'm firmly in this crowd. When NFC first came out, I thought it was cool but there wasn't any use case for it (at the time). Slowly, people started making payment systems that use it but it really didn't take off. That didn't stop me from wanting it and thinking it was cool. But just because it's cool doesn't mean it's useful or beneficial to anyone. Cool is just cool. Lots of things in the world are cool, not all of them come from Apple.

Hopefully IB comes out on Android soon. I don't play it anymore but it was a great game when I did play. I stopped after 2 but still, great graphics and game.

I would have just pointed to the end of the line and told him to hurry up and get in before it gets longer.

Apple and Steve Jobs had reasons for why large screens didn't work a few years ago. Battery technology wasn't there (look up battery life tests going back 3-4 years, you'll find it was appreciably less than small phones), display tech wasn't there and also it was hard to use. Notice how Apple drastically improved battery life especially with 6 Plus. Display technology is being reviewed as the best LCD (although Samsung's OLED panels today are best overall but remember the large OLED panels 3-4 years ago were definitely not close to being best anything). And iOS 8 has Reachability to help with using a large screen. Apple didn't slap on a bigger screen with little to regards to its consequences like other companies did. Apple isn't about being first and having to deal with consequences of being first (in this case, less battery life, worse display quality, hard to use). They wait until they think they can negate the consequences and come out with something with significantly less/zero compromise.

Steve usually hated X for reasons Y, Z, A, etc. Once those reasons or problems were fixed, then why hate X? Similar goes for small tablets. Apple waited until their software was ready to make sure it wasn't harder to use than large/normal size tablets.

Steve's reasons for insisting that the 3.5" was the perfect size had nothing to do at all with technology.

Did Apple Discontinue the 5C & 5s ?
Something for everyone, yes ?

The differentiator for a few years was "Mine is Bigger".
I've heard that before.

They didn't think it was worth updating the iPhone 6 with the traditional screen size. It's pretty clear that they don't intend to continue with the size.
