No..the same. We are standing by, watching how history repeats itself. Is the tone that Trump uses to refer to illegal immigrants that different from the tone that Hitler used to describe the Jewish people ?

If you write all this in the past tense, then I probably could agree. The government will not own any part of it. The First Amendment and caselaw is clear. The government cannot silence the people. If you allow one to speak, you have to allow all. You can only delete comments in very limited circumstances. Private company's can do what they want. So every person banned or who had a comment blocked will have a first amendment violation against the government. The app would essentially have to be shut down or allowed to run free until sold. Private or publicly traded companies are the only ones who will ever own a social media company, not the government. Why hundreds of government attorneys are not running to him to tell him this I will never understand.
Ah well, thanks anyway.I didn't refer to anything *Elon said*. I just said he supports Trumpism, which is a movement with white supremacist overtones.
They were lying or projectingRemember when people were upset about the previous administration being "in bed" with social media companies? What ever happened to those folk?
Then why is he doing a Nazi salute and supporting far-right groups in Germany?Elon is just as much a Nazi as the Ukranians are Nazis and their country needs to be de-nazified by military force, as claimed by the Kremlin. That is to say not at all, both notions are equally ludicrous.
Keep telling yourself that. Bluesky is often the most popular app in the app store. And that doesn't count people who use the web versionlol. The founder of Blue Cry, Dorsey, abandoned it and went back to X. It’ll go the same direction as mastodon and threads…..nowhere. They’re all trying to copy X and will fail miserably and frankly, it’s hilarious.
I'm glad Blue Sky is failing to copy X, since Blue Sky isn't polluted with nazis and far right bots.lol. The founder of Blue Cry, Dorsey, abandoned it and went back to X. … and then roll X into it … TiXToX
Newly inaugurated US President Donald Trump on Tuesday expressed support for Elon Musk potentially acquiring TikTok, and also proposed a joint ownership structure with the U.S. government.

"I would be, if he wanted to buy it, yes," Trump told reporters at a White House event announcing a new AI infrastructure private sector partnership, where OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son were in attendance. The comments came just days after TikTok briefly went offline in the United States following Supreme Court action.
The social media platform, which boasts 170 million American users, temporarily shut down for about 12 hours on Saturday after the Supreme Court upheld legislation requiring Chinese company ByteDance to divest its US TikTok operations. Trump subsequently issued an executive order providing a 75-day pause on the ban's enforcement.
During the White House event, where Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison was also present, Trump floated the idea of a 50-50 ownership split between any acquiring company and the US government. "They'll have something that's actually more valuable because they have the ultimate partner," Trump explained.
Trump specifically mentioned both Musk and Ellison as potential buyers during the event. Oracle already plays a significant role in TikTok's operations, hosting most of the platform's servers.
Trump originally supported banning the short-form video app over national security concerns, but his thinking has U-turned since winning the US presidential election for a second time. "We won the young vote. I think I won it through TikTok," Trump told reporters. "So I have a warm spot in my heart for TikTok."

You can very easily see an amateur manipulator.
You can very easily see an amateur manipulator.
Essentially what he is saying is: "I want you to concentrate on a finger and not on the moon."
It is not a structural things such as "masonic gestures" that determine the vector of where society goes but a non-structural things like a fundamentally fascist "celebrity culture".
It is possible that Elon actually performs(perhaps unintentionally) an act of subversion of the fascist "celebrity culture". A fascist "celebrity culture" crowd got the message and got very angry with Elon.
I think the main point that's relevant to this thread topic is that Elon's gesture is a distraction and the main problem is the "celebrity culture" that celebrates and focuses attention on people like Elon.I honestly have no idea what you're talking about -- I apologize
I've read your post multiple times and am totally perplexed by it

It is important to understand though that a badge with your name on a office door in the White House is not able to manage a complex social system all by itself. Politics is not about what you wish to do but about what you are actually able to do(on the ground so to speak).I see
Well, given that he's now got an office in the White House, is a massive government contractor with multiple businesses and has the ear and influence over the President .. I'd say we are now WAY beyond "celebrity culture" concerns
It's valid to be fully alarmed by Nazi "anything" from someone in Elons position
He's not Mel Gibson here

Yes, but how he got there is because of his celebrity. Not to get too off-topic, but Trump also won the presidency in large part through the celebrity he built up through The Apprentice. And while there are many other people now buying their influence into power, including Bezos, Zuckerberg, and many others we haven't heard of, Elon gets all the attention, because of celebrity.I see

You are not giving any power to the people whatsoever. He's literally purchased influence with the current President and has direct influence over a wide range of policy, including a massive conflict of interest regarding his own businesses which are government contractors
It's plain as day -- I have no idea why you're arguing this objective fact
You are not giving any power to the people whatsoever.
No law or policy is going to work if all people on a fundamental level reject it. Realistically you can not enforce fascism onto a society that have not been slowboiled to it.
Celebrity is important because it builds up attention and good will. In a democracy, that translates into votes, which gets you power.Guys, who cares about the Celebrity part?
It's irrelevant -- those with money are buying influence and getting it
That's all that matters
You implied that influence in the White House and policies are all that is needed. What are you even talking about?
I said nothing of the kind
I believe @avz is trying to say you aren't taking the power of people into account. What are you even talking about?
I said nothing of the kind
Republicans, maybe. Democrats and leftists are not onboard. No need to force anything -- Republicans are fully MAGA-fied and onboard with it
