Ironically a government owned social media company would be the ultimate free speech platform. All the privately or share holder owned platforms can limit your free speech in any way they desire. This totally bypasses the wild idea of a government owning a social media platform to begin with.

I was raised Catholic but my grandmother on my father's side was Jewish and lost her ENTIRE family in the camps. If the "gesture" was not intentional that Elon should apologize merely for the fact that it could be perceived as a Nazi salute.

I would suggest to those that thought it was innocent, that you greet your grandmother, a World War II veteran or a Holocaust survivor with that "innocent" gesture.

Do you actually think Musk meant to do a Nazi salute? The guy is autistic and awkward as **** on stage. But he said "my heart goes out to you", it felt sincere to me. Like he was trying to convey a positive message and connect with the audience. It was obviously unscripted too. Just because his arm went up doesn't mean he was making a Nazi salute. There are countless images of other politicians with their arm up in a similar pose that could be mistaken for a nazi salute. But only if you deliberately take it out of context.

The arm being in that position is not the issue. It's the motion that is eerily similar. IF it was not intentional that call out Nazis as bad and apologize. Saying nothing is not acceptable.

Look - I am all for not calling people Nazis just because we disagree with them. But I studied German history in college, am sitting in my home office that has a bookshelf with over a dozen books in both English and German about the third reich (many of which I've read multiple times), and took a seminar on how fascism takes over countries and spreads at a university in Berlin as a part of my study abroad experience. A long way of saying I know a fascist salute when I see one. I don't know why he got so excited he felt the need to throw up a fascist salute, and frankly don't really care. It's not so obvious to me that Elon is not a Nazi. There is a strong current of white supremacist tendency among Trump's supporters. Trump himself says a lot of things that can be interpreted as white supremacist, like immigrants are poisoning the blood of the country. So in my opinion, it's reasonable to suspect anyone who supports Trump of having white supremacist positions. I'm not saying all Trump supporters are white supremacists, but if you are a Trump supporter, and you do something that feels white supremacist-ish, you don't get a benefit of doubt from me. And there's a lot of commonality between white supremacy and Nazi ideology. So Elon, a Trump supporter, doing something that looks very similar to a Nazi salute.... I won't conclude from this that Elon is a Nazi, but it's one more step toward deepening my suspicions about him.
