Trump DID speculate about the possibility of injecting disinfectants into the body, and suggested looking into it as a treatment for COVID-19:

“I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that.”

It's true that Trump didn't specifically mention bleach, but one of the primary disinfectants that was being talked about at the time, that could kill COVID-19 on surfaces, was bleach, as well as less-toxic ammonia-based disinfectants. Nevertheless, since he didn't specifically say "bleach", it's true that people shouldn't have claimed that he did.

So when you say that Trump said to inject bleach, that is false. Sorry but that's just the facts.

Violence is never the answer and it is pathetic and sad that you're suggesting it.
Who said anything about violence? It's just that Trump's mental decline is far more obvious than Biden's was. Trump has been caught falling asleep at random times and places. And saying he works 27 hours a day doesn't cut it for a person who golfs more than he governs.
And yes, his family has a history of Alzheimer's.

Does he expect Apple to build a production line overnight? I guess Apple will announce they'll build a production facility in the US, spend 1-1.5 years planning it, drag it on, until he's gone.
Bessent said the Administration would be satisfied if Apple committed to making more chips in the US.

Come on. Trump routinely gives impromptu press conferences. Biden rarely granted even pre-scripted press appearances.

Trump may be controversial but he definitely has the energy. Did you watch the debate last year? Biden clearly has dementia. Trump does not.

But has Trump said that? If Trump hasn't said it, it's not official. Even if Trump said it, he'll undo it when something new catches his attention.

And what does he do at his press conferences? Mostly self-fellate and demean people he hates. Not talk about how he's going to improve the American people (except the people he really cares about. And you are not on the list, unless you're a beautiful young woman or is willing and able to give him a few hundred million).

The debate was, what, six months ago?
And considering the fact how quickly the mind can deteriorate, that's probably the most animated you'll see him for awhile.

Some Apple chips are already made in the US. There are certain iPhone processors made by TSMC in Arizona, I believe.

But the Administration should also ask Samsung, LG, Sony, Kioxia, and the other manufacturers in 40+ countries who produce components for Apple to start making their parts in the US.

June 27 was way more than 6 months ago. Trump is still giving interviews. And he’s gained approval over the past month.

I don’t disagree with you. This notion that Americans are “too lazy” to work in manufacturing is odd. Why do so many “respectable” journalists push this notion?

No. We can’t make everything in the US. But shouldn’t the pandemic have shown us that it’s stupid to outsource everything to a rival? If we had outsourced all our manufacturing to Germany in 1933 we might not have won WW2.

All presidents spin. But Biden was clueless. Trump is coherent. You just don’t like his message.

Having factory employees is one thing. Having the actual components or raw materials is another thing.

It's mainly that some of the high tech components in these modern devices simply aren't made in the US. And they never were.

Sony camera sensors? Japan.
LG screens? S Korea.
Batteries? China.
Accelerometer? Germany.
etc...

No. We can’t make everything in the US. But shouldn’t the pandemic have shown us that it’s stupid to outsource everything to a rival? If we had outsourced all our manufacturing to Germany in 1933 we might not have won WW2.

Like I said earlier... many of these components aren't made by US companies in the US in the first place... so these companies aren't really our rivals. We live in a worldwide economy with suppliers and manufacturing all across the globe. And it's been like this for a looong time.

Remember when 1950s Doc Brown was shocked to find parts made in Japan?

"All the best stuff is made in Japan" - Marty McFly

On the bright side... we make a lot of weapons in the US. So I wouldn't be too worried about weapon shortages.

We may run out of toilet paper... but we have a lot of guns...

;)

Trump is more verbal and verbose, I wouldnt call what comes out particularly coherent though, and to be clear I’m not just being snide about policy, when the man talks it’s often literally just a nearly completely incoherent stream of consciousness type rant with repeated common themes

well... his message is everything is going to get way more expensive. the China factory that builds iPhones employs 350,000 people. average wage is $2.7-$4 / hr compared with the average starting wage for a worker at the austin mac pro factor of $54k /yr. if use the upper end of the scale $4/hr x 40 hours a week x52 weeks a year = $8320

350,000 * 8320 = $2,923,000,000 in wages.

350,000 austin workers * $54k = $18,900,000,000 which is $15,977,000,000 more to manufacture in the US, and this is all assuming that
1. you can find enough qualified workers and in the scarcity for workers the cost of workers doesn't go up.
2. the supporting industries can be built up - (mac pro production suffers from difficulty of getting simple things like screws in quantities they need... imagine an high volume product like iPhone...)

Trump isn't actually interested in domestic production of anything. if he was he would be subsidizing it. instead he is filling his pockets scamming people with his crypto coin and passing tax breaks for himself and elon.

I can understand your statement and point of view. Clearly you are not one of the many posters here that disagree with him and are posting hateful comments simply because they disagree with his stance/actions. Thank you for being completely reasonable.

P.S. (edit) I offer respect and am listening to your viewpoints.

I might not be quoting him word for word, but broadly he did say that. Do you think he didn’t?

I’m not gonna belabor the point because it’s already been discussed to death, but no, he didn’t. You don’t just get to make up quotes and state them as fact. He asked if there was a way to develop an injection that could work fast to kill the virus like a disinfectant does on surfaces. At no point in time did he say “Go inject bleach into your body.” I’m not saying what he said was particularly smart, but it’s not at all accurate to say that he said to inject bleach.

Someone needs to tell Trump that Apple doesn't have factories in China.

Foxconn does.
Pegatron does.
Wistron does.
Compal Electronics does.

Apple partners with these companies because they can do the work. At scale. We're talking hundreds of millions of units per year!

Hell... even the "Made in America" Mac Pro is made by a company called Flextronics. Though the Mac Pro is such a low-volume product which is probably the only reason why it can be made in America.

And let's not forget the 40+ countries that make the individual components for the iPhone... as well as other products like the Mac Pro. Like I said earlier... Apple has a worldwide supply chain for all their products.

So yeah... I'm not sure how Trump expects Apple to start making their products in America. Doesn't he have anything better to do?

🤔

Just checking in to this comedy thread to see people defending Trump's idea of injecting disinfectant to cure diseases because someone maybe used a brand name? LOL. I still remember that press conference and watched the look on Dr. Birx's face as she tried to dissolve into the drywall. Now they pretend to be worried about Chinese slave labor when they know nothing about the working conditions there except what Trump tells them. This is why we are where we are... TDS... Trump Denial Syndrome.

Hahahaha thank you for educating us simpletons 🙄
