So the tl;dr is they’ll be fine? And the joker was right for once? A broken clock is right twice a day, don’t forget!

I just find it hilarious left leaning folks and anti-Trumpers alike who love apple are ACTUALLY upset Trump defended them, said their stock is doing well overall (even if he misquoted the amount, incredibly petty but then again, that’s an entire political party’s arguments for you, wrapped up with raw emotion), and that they’ll be fine.

...What exactly are you outraged by? That he didn’t pinpoint the precise amount of where stocks are, with graphs and a lengthy breakdown? Would you prefer him to say Apple wont be fine, and stocks have been in the tank and will continue to be for the foreseeable future?

Manufactured outrage, at its pinnacle.

I would prefer he stop lying and just making stuff up. But, who am I to question a man who knows more than the generals about how to fight a war. Mad Dog Mattis or Bone Spur Donny?

But robots do require designers, programmers, parts/components, assemblers, shippers, installers, and routine maintenance. Sounds like the robots will create jobs, not replace them.

I'm curious to hear some logistics on that. If you hire 100,000 Chinese workers to hand assemble iPhones and they are working 60 hour weeks all year, every year, that will cost X. If you hire 10,000 American workers to do all the steps you said, they work for 1-2 years; then 1000 American works take over the sustaining portion. That will cost Y. I wagger that Y is much less than X in the not-so-long term, employs more Americans in higher technology jobs, and doesn't let China hold shipments hostage over the People policies of Censorship, Kickbacks, Extortion, etc. Henry Ford was American and invented the "modern" assembly line. The real modern assembly line does use robotics to save cost. If they can design AI to drive a car, maybe they should invest in an Assembly line. I recall seeing a video interview with Jobs a number of years ago about Apples attempt to do assembly in USA, and why the passed. Would be good to see it again. Anyone have a link? Seems very pertinent to this discussion.

However, let's hear your view, maybe I am misunderstanding your perspective.

But this isn’t a thread about ‘I hate orange man’ and ‘he lies’ and other platitudes we’ve only heard and been pitched ten million times

This is a thread about a statement he made concerning Apple and their prosperity up for questioning, hence why its on MacRumors.

Of course, the thread quickly and predictably devolves into everyone pitching into the group thought ‘I STILL HATE HIM!’ Because thats the culture and times in 2019, But that has nothing to do with what he said... imo

People hate him and are disillusioned so much, they think he threw shade at Apple when he actually praised and defended them and even mispoke about how high their stocks have gotten overall, despite a dip in sales recently! It’s gotten downright ridiculous! They create a reality that isn’t even there!

I’m agreeing with you. I read your first post differently. I thought it was the sarcastic “robots will take our jobs” response. Your well articulated viewpoint above is the near future, in my opinion.

What war? I don't remember Congress declaring a state of war existing.

They should make two identical phones:

iPhone Xs ($1000) made in China; and the iPhone US ($2500) made in the U.S.

Then see which sells better. ;)

He did, because hundreds is plural. But even at the lowest possible number of 200%, he has only inflated the number ten fold. Not bad compared to his usual overstatement.

Well, no, technically if it's over 100%, it would be in the hundreds. (just like over 1000 years is 2nd century, or if you have over $1, you have dollars)

Yes, he's right about the "Apple will be fine part". The Hundreds of Percent part is pure stupid. He said that merely to make it appear like HE was responsible for Apple stock value climbing an astronomical amount. It did not. Most of Wall Street stocks, the DOW in general, is down year over year, much of the plunge due to Donald's easy to win trade wars. He's not just a narcissist, he's a very stupid narcissist.

If I didn't have the graphs in front of me, I might well think Apple more than doubled their stock value from trough to peak as well. And, while the current dip probably is somewhat in reaction to trade-hysteria, driven by media hysteria, etc. etc., it could also be argued it might be due to smart-phone sales decline and Tim's experiments to see how high he could push pricing.

(While I'm not exactly a Trump-fan, I do wish people would start to use their God-given minds instead of just blindly following the MSM that makes Trump look like a rocket-scientist!)

The word "erroneously" suggests that it was a statement made by error. It wasn't. It was just a lie.
Please fix the headline, MacRumors.

You sound personally offended and triggered. How ridiculous !

Did you lose a lot of money by his misquote or some’n? Did he meddle in your personal affairs recently? What’s going on bud? Where is this specific outrage coming from?

Well I'm sorry you've never opened a dictionary in your entire life :)

The burn is so bad, I need some aloe Vera.

I wanna be in the outrage gang too, I really do! it seems chill. Just instruct me as to what I should be so upset about in this instance with this article because I’m genuinely baffled but also curious and amused. Spoon feed me.

I get it, people aren’t fans of Trump. But I’m mind blown (while still not surprised since I’ve become relatively numb to it all by now) where the outrage is coming from specifically here. Not anywhere else. Here.

Honestly, Apple is having problems because they put their eggs into one basket and got overzealous with pricing. The XS should have been at least cheaper than the X. $1000 phone with $200 AppleCare every year? Can’t do it.

Many, many posters will be getting emails from Apple over this thread.

Be nice.

He is The President. America's President.

Just because Apple comes out with a new model every year doesn't mean you have to upgrade every year.

In before the reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Orange man bad
Orange man to blame for $1000 iPhone pricing established retroactive to the trade war
Orange man stifles innovation

.... AND! Orange man erroneously talks stocks. That is, when Orange man isnt making typos.

Also how dare he defend Apple, I am so upset he didn’t say they’re doomed.

My day is ruined. Like yesterday, the day before, tomorrow, And the day after.
I suspect orange man pooped in my cereal too because it tasted kinda funky this morning.
Ding ding ding.

People don’t want to pay a GRAND every year for a phone.

I agree with Trump, they should be built in the US. It would help justify the pricing at least.

I think he should say we need to keep expanding production in China AND doubling down on it, so his staunch haters insist it has to be made in USA without understanding or explanation
