So it’s now possible for one man to circumvent the American constitution, congress and the senate, basically all governing bodies and order the shut down of an American company without providing any evidence of law breaking or intent to break the law.

And do this without the company having any legal means to challenge this?

it Makes me wonder why half the country is up in arms about threats to the 1st and 2nd amendments but are totally happy with this one?

surely this undermines the basic freedom of America and is more inline with a dictatorship than a democracy?

Weird.
Did Trump create the ‘Executive Order’? Or, is he the first president to use an executive order? You just realized the circumvention by one man existed?

Best interests for the US or not aside, it’s worrying that the President has the power to literally dictate stuff like this - without any consultation with the broader governing system. A very dangerous precedent is being set here!
Excuse me, but how do you know there was no consultation? Or you mean by consultation every decision must go to the vote?

Did Congress or the Supreme Court decide to drop the nuclear bomb? I rest my case, but good try.

😂😂😂

So you're original 'argument' (and I use that description quite loosely in regards to any of your statements on this forum) was in regards to Roosevelt's response to Germany.

No there isn't and no they won't. national security is national security. If we'd have let the Congress and the courts decide how to deal with the Nazis, everyone in Europe would be speaking German right now and Germany would have invaded America too. President Roosevelt had to take action. Thinking like yours is dangerous for the world.

This in itself was nonsense because anyone who spent half a second actually paying attention in history class would've known that the President can't declare war, he/she can only ask Congress, to which both Houses voted in favor off unanimously in regards to war on Germany.

Your rebuttal (again, loosely using this term in regard to your drivel) was who decided to drop the nuclear bomb. Nice deflection. And yes, dropping the nuclear bomb on Japan, 3 months after Germany had surrendered, was instrumental in preventing us from being conquered by the Nazi regime. 🤣🤣

Good job resting your case. 👏👏

If it is in the best interest of US, I am all for banning the app. But placing a mandate to sell US portion is downright stealing. It should be ByteDance’s sole business decision to when and how to spin off US operation. This is why I said There should be investigation on whether Trump bought MSFT prior to Announcing plans for this exec order.
Have people forgotten about the MSFT pentagon contract?

I have a feeling we will see Trump and others use a Surface Duo instead of an iPhone coming up soon.

What I would be worried about if this happens is what China will do in retaliation? While the USA is split down the middle, over 1 billion Chinese, the vast majority stand as one. Not going to end well.

And why isn't the decree that the business be sold to a U.S. or Western European business??? Obviously, the President and the Republican party actually want access to all of this data themselves. That's why Microsoft will be purchasing it -- we know they've had backdoors in their products for the US Intelligence agencies for decades now.

You can look at this from many different perspectives, but it is undoubtedly in the best interest of the US to do this.
No, this is not. We live in a democratic/capitalist society. Government dictating business acquisitions terms and conditions is not good unless it is a monopoly situation. Moreover, it is a single branch dictating this. There is no check or balance. Government organizing means of production and commerce is communist and that is what this is.

I suggest many woke posting here read the book "Unrestricted Warfare" by PLAAF General Qiao Liang. It was extremely influential on Trump And Bannon and is genius in itself. There are many who feel that the USA is facing the most effective attack ever done by a foreign enemy, and done by them inexpensively. I'm certain Trump feels this way.

Uh, Congress declared war. Before tahjt Congress [passed the lend lease laws. While the President has sopme broad powers there are limits, as should be. National security get bandied about to excuse a lot of things, and courts haver both the ability and power to decide if an action is legal, executive order or not.

What happens when a foreign country oprders a US company to divest all it's operations in that country?

Defending China to own Trump. What a time to be alive.

Or as Kamala Harris said herself in a recorded speech a couple years ago,
"You know what they say about 18-24 year olds right? They're ALL STUPID!" to lots of laughter from the Dem crowd.

Her words not mine. You can find that one on Youtube.

You really want to know? It is racist imagery and I'd be ashamed of wearing it.

As for my mask being racist, was the "Spanish Flu" term in 1918 racist too? Is that what was the first thing on dying peoples minds? This is "snowflake" thinking and you'll be the first to defend Kamala Harris's remarks as well as her putting more Black Americans in jail than Trump or anybody in the campaign as a prosecutor and ex-cop. Yeah, you won't see that in any campaign ads.

Truman dropped the bomb without Congress or the Supreme Court. Is that an illegal executive act? I think not. Would we do the same thing today? Unlikely. I don't think we have many leaders of strength anymore, just poll and fad watchers.

Also China needs us more than we need them. Their economy is in a death spiral right now and they are pulling out all the stops to get Biden in to save Tiktok and WeChat and their economy which financially benefits the Biden family directly.

Like GDPR, this has nothing to do with privacy and everything to do with a trade war. I'm all for a trade war against China, but not this way. They should ban it outright, but Trump wants to make a deal with Microsoft for the acquisition. This is known as crony capitalism.

Makes sense since Win10 is a spyfest. But is there actual evidence of this?

Congress is ultimately controlled by the senate, and the majority in the senate has eagerly ceded their power to the president. This is how dictatorships start.

RE Racism and the Spanish Flu yes, it is racist by today’s standard. America a (And all humans civilizations) ideally grow and change and learn. We know things now we didn’t before because we grew as a people and learned more in depth what racism is. Just like we had to learn separate is not equal we are learning that names and symbols can carry racist motives. I would encourage you to grow and learn with your country.

Truman dropped the bomb in a time of war. It was not an executive order because congress declared war and it was simply a military action. There is no war with China. The president has zero authority to take military action as such (though the “Police Action in Korea” does show a highly unpopular example of a president skirting this check). This order is as such simply mucking in the American economy for political gain. Truly, if you look at it, it is the government controlling means of commerce or production. It is actually an act in line with communism.
