To resolve this issue CHINA needs to eliminate tariffs on their side AND agree to stop theft of intellectual property.

They have to come to the realisation we ALREADY gave them a leg up economically and technically and the river has dried up. They have a large and growing middle class now and a shortage of bikes and a plethora of cars.

From now on they can ride our coattails but cannot steal them or take therm away from us and haul them to China.

What are the chances of that? I predict 25% tariffs as a result. For a while.

I do want to say that people throw around the term socialism way too easily.

Socialism is when you centralize all means of production. So you have government ran banks / factories / etc. What we're talking about in terms of universal healthcare and universal wage isn't socialism. I find it sad that republicans are literally dumbing every american that watches fox news.

I know that and agree. Was directing that post to the Trumpers who have a Pavlovian reaction to the word Socialism. Yet ignore corporate welfare and everyday things they enjoy like social security, Medicaid & Medicare, not to mention their local fire department. I believe healthcare is a right, and not a privilege as well, and we should have Universal Healthcare. That’s how you make America great. Imagine if the majority of Americans didn’t have to worry about their child getting sick, or elderly people didn’t have to choose between food and their meds?

Yeah because I’m sure you really wanted to spend 3 or 4 grand replacing a laptop and phone...
If you were thinking of doing that next year or the year after I’m more then sure you can afford any tariffs that are slapped on those devices.

Not at all. I'm expecting at least 3~4 years for the XS and 6~7 years for the MBP. With recent trends in their OS updates, I'm not going to be missing out on much. Like I said, for the foreseeable future.

then just deal with the tariffs......................... it's one or the other, it's going to be hard to afford a new apple device when we are all working in retail/McDonalds because all the manufacturing is done overseas.......

We need skilled manufacturing, not stuff that can be done by robots, or people that can do the job with no education in countries like China. They have suicide nets at the iPhone factories because the job is that bad, and those are the jobs you want to bring here?

Yet we have a record number of employed Americans and low unemployment. Just keep focusing on the things you don't like. Congrats though on covering all the predictable points... heck, u even got Russia in there. Good job!

And yet the US government has to borrow money to prop up the economy while growing a massive deficit in a growing economy, to be paid for by raising taxes.

All while the stock market has been stagnant.

Republicans simply don't know how to grow an economy, and will always have to borrow in order to do so.

everything is going towards automation, even plenty of retail jobs.

Nope. Pure love baby. Embrace the future man. It’s coming.

The future doesn’t have to look ugly. You can just as easily put EV internals in a Dodge Charger/Challenger, Audi S5, or for a current actual example, BMW i8. It doesn’t have to look like a Smart Car and a VW Microbus from the 60’s had a rather unfortunate looking lovechild.

Sounds like that’s the real problem then isn’t it? What are we going to do about automation? Tariff them away?

Exactly. Every major recession and crash in the last 30 plus years has happened during a Republican administration. When will people learn? Trickle down economics doesn’t work. Unpaid tax cuts. Rampant wars, deregulation & deficits lead to the inevitable crash. Obama had to pull us out of Bush’s mess. Trump inherited Obama’s growing economy and is taking credit for it. But his actions are leading us right to another crash. Trust me...it’s coming. And another Democrat will have to fix it.

A large number of whom aren't making a living wage and need to work 2-3 jobs per household to make ends meet, and still live paycheck-to-paycheck and are unable to save.

Just the opposite, are you ignoring the things you don't like?

The American taxpayer should not have bailed out that pile of crap corporation.

Not bailing GM out would have been worse. The impact would not have been limited to only the tens of thousands of GM workers.

The demise of GM would have had a huge ripple effect that would have lead to job losses at companies both directly and indirectly tied to GM.

- parts suppliers like Lear, BorgWarner, Delphi, Magna, etc.
- the hundreds of GM dealerships that employ thousands and thousands of people.
- the businesses (restaurants, super markets, clothing stores, etc) where all these people shop would have seen a sales decline, leading to lay offs.

Lol. Oh man, couldn’t disagree more. It’s beautiful.

Let’s be fair. If we are going to say trump inherited obamas economic growth (I don’t disagree) we have to admit Clinton inherited Reagan’s economic growth. Last I checked Reagan was a republican.

That makes sense, worth the money if you plan on keeping them that long. I would worry about Trumps tariffs in that case with regards to Apple devices then.

Clinton also ended his Presidency with a record surplus.

I didn’t say Clinton was bad I just pointed out he inherited a great economy that was entirely setup by Republican administrations.
