And at 16 you can afford $220+ a month, + gas and + maintenance while having at least $800 in the bank in case something happens? Impressive.

If you don't have quite a bit of money in the bank and your car breaks, you will not be able to fix it, may lose your job if you can't get there, then won't be able to make your payments on insurance then. ALWAYS have a decent amount of money for when stuff happens, because it WILL.

I like to keep 1000$ in my bank incase of emergency :)

just get a bike or something else with your money and save the planet while you are young. Get the car when you really need it and not because everyone close to you has one.

Where I live, I can't exactly get anywhere with a bike it would take me nearly an hour to get from point A to point B that's like a 3 KM. Where I like to go, aka the mall, it's nearly 35 KM away. Probably take me over 4 hours. Also, the reason I'm getting a car is because I can't drive my dad's car as he doesn't live with us anymore and my mom's car... well let's just say its to fast. 265 HP with a turbo. TOO FAST!

Lol. My mother just told me that she wouldn't mind me buying the BMW. With her permission, should I buy it next year or not ?

Nearly everyone in this thread has already said no, you should buy something more practical and cheaper to run. So stop asking and either buy it or don't - don't think anyone's answer is going to change suddenly.

And there's no way your insurance will be $200/month in Ontario if you actually want anything more than minimum coverage. Full coverage will run you more like $4000-8000 annually. Trust me - I thought about insuring my car here, and I'm not 16.

Maybe, personally I wouldn't. But I live in an area with decent public transport and I'm not afraid of walking. Whereas you said you live in an area where it might be needed... So go for it. But be sure you're getting it for transport reasons and get a cheap, reliable car than paying through the nose for something flashy. The world doesn't need one more kid speeding around in a powerful car.

Lol. Well, I consider my self responsible. I'm am very picky if people don't follow the rules. I get told to be a Police Officer when I grow up because of that personality trait.

OKAY WELL THANK YOU EVERYONE... EVEN THO I STILL LOVE TO HEAR WHAT EVERYONE AND THEIR OPINION. KEEP THIS THREAD GOING IF YOU'D LIKE. I'M ALWAYS GOING TO BE COMMING BACK AND CHECKING ON IT SO... YEAH THANKS

I just realized you said that you're turning 16 next year......

Do you really think that BMW isn't going to be sold already in a year?

NO!
I drive a 2006 red saturn ion 2.
Guess my insurance with:

- NO tickets
- NO fines, points etc etc.

I've had a clean record for the 4 years I've been driving.
I'm 20 and a 5* driver. Ready?

My insurance is $3730 a YEAR! Which is equal to $311 a MONTH! Thats right, on a saturn which I drive EVERY day to work! On top of that, my payment is almost $180/month!

Don't bother getting a BMW now, wait until your over 25 so that the insurance is a lot lower and you've had more experience.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

Dam, the insurance may also be because you live in another province? Well. I'm going to look for another car that I may like that's cheap but if I don't find, I'm probably going to stick to BMW. The reason that I haven't found a car is because the older models are long cars and so like thin.

How is it possiblely that low.

The only hope I see is if you have liability only. I have NEVER had my rates that low. Even when I was 25 with no wrecks. I had it down to 85 a month for full coverage. (currently 100 a month because of a wreck)

OMG! A TOYOTA CELICA... THATS ONE OF THE CARS I LOVE! LEMME CHECK THE PRICES!

Get a cheap car. I'm 17 and I drive a 1992 Jeep Cherokee, which my parents bought for me when I was still 15.

The nice thing about it is (depending on where you live and the winter weather) is that it has 4-wheel drive, it's bigger than a car (but it's not too much like a truck) so its size will help protect you if you ever get into an accident.

Also, first-year drivers suck at driving. Period. The other kids at your school (assuming you drive it to school) will also suck at driving. With a cheap car if someone rams into it while attempting to park it's not a big deal. (Or if they do this.)

After you leave high school, get a nicer car after you're had some driving experience.

Lol, true, I'm actually looking at a Pontiac G5 2005. I don't like the fact that its not Power Windows. I actually wanted a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee but my dad said no because i'd be spending 100$ on gas every time I would go out so I gave up on that.

OK.
Not to be rude but I do think that you're being a little too picky.
I drove a 1987 Buick for three years and just upgraded to a 2006.

I'd get a beater now, run it around get some driving experience etc, and then see what car you'd like to get.

Just curious, why are u looking for a BMW, or a newer (2005+) vehicle at your age?

What do you mean why am I looking for one? Did you read the other posts? I need a car to drive next year. I can't drive my mom's car (2009 Subaru WRX 265hp turbo) because to powerful or my dad's truck (2007 Chevrolet Avalanche) because he doesn't live with us for nearly a year now. And I don't blame you for calling me picky, I agree with you. I know that I'm picky but there isn't much I can do about it.

Yet you say your not interested in Toyota as everyone has one:confused: you sir are a hypocrite:eek:.

Then he complains about it being a two door, yet he said he can only drive by himself until he is 18. Why do you need more than two doors if your driving by yourself? (also if you love celicas so much you would know there is no such thing as a 4 door celica, thats like saying you love fish then act surprised when you find out you can't take them for a walk)

I'm starting to think he started this thread only to brag, so far he has taken none of the advice we offered, and he has his heart set on a car already.

Ummmm... I said I CANT drive ALONE until I'm 18. I'm not the kind of person that changes his mind quickly. And the advice most of you given is not to get a BMW as they are too expensive on insurance and repairs. Well yeah, I get it and sure I wont get the car, but I want to know which car I should get. I gave a couple of things I'm looking in a car, and I haven't found any that really impress me. So shut up if you have nothing good to say okay?
