I wanted to upgrade this year but it's too expensive and I don't like the direction Apple is going. I never thought I'd say it but yeah. Maybe if they release an updated SE model I'll upgrade to that from my current launch day iPhone 6.

I think affordability and availability are the two factors that are likely going to contribute to The iPhone X success. I know the iPhone X will sell well, but there are those who will not upgrade because it's just too expensive of a phone to do so, especially those who upgrade annually. And then, depending on how long of a wait is there is to receive the iPhone X, it could be well into the next year before some even receive their devices, which somebody might cancel if it becomes too long of a wait. It's definitely going to be a test for the iPhone X this year to see how things go accordingly.

Definitely was the smallest crowd I've seen when I went this morning. Rocked up at 7:45 for my pickup, no troubles.
Could you please tell us what the actual focal length of the main camera is ?
It can be found in the exif of a picture.

It’s not surprising at all.
There is NOTHING exciting about 8 / 8 Plus (7S)
It’s all about X.

Reaaly? Steve who approved the Mac cube, who oversaw the aluminum iMacs, aluminum Macbooks, Macbook air, the removal of floppy drives, of optical drives, who was involved in every iPhone up to the 5. He would somehow in your vision approve removable storage for the phone suddenly or be afraid of removing the headphone jack when oversaw the end of 30 pin connector, the switch to Intel chips, etc.

You really shouldn't throw out Steve wouldn't have done this or that - you have no idea.
In regards optical drives, you can still buy optical drives, external ones, granted...

Was switching to Intel all that good? Of course we can only ever know what happens on the road we travel on, we cannot know what would have happened had Apple gone down a different route.

The point is, the iPhone is a turd, a boring basic small box of parts, that a 5 year old could have designed...There has not been any significant innovation at Apple for over a decade!!

What Steve Jobs did was innovate, he took a risk.. Tim/Jony do not have the same desire for risk.. Honestly it would be the most boring round of flog playing in the same 4 ball as tim/jony, they would never go for an albatross, when a safe par is on the cards..

The phones are boring, the laptops, the imacs, the mac pro, all old outdated, boring, useless turds one and all...Apple does not allow innovation..Even the new theatre is boring...Nothing fancy about is..And the new space-turd...Staff leaving as they hate it...where is the desire for risk?? Apple could give away for 1000 days all products in all stores, everything, just give away and still turn a profit...Once you have received a free apple product, you need to buy...

Just like in restaurants, any idiot knows, there is zero profit in food, you make your money in booze...The same for Apple...they are making mint on add on's, dongles..Apple know this..

Why not have post purchase updating? That to me is a no brainer...Allow RAM companies to innovate, right now Apple has killed this, dammit I so want to class action sue the idiots Tim/Jony for being idiots...the law allows idiots to be idiots...a pity...

and yet if i go to apple.com/uk and put an iPhone 8 in my basket it will not deliver for 2 weeks. On launch weekend Apple typically sells between 10 and 13 million iPhones. So if just half want the iPhone X instead thats 5/6 million less sales happening this weekend.

The iPhone X will be the one folks are planning to wait for, but when they find out they'll probably have to wait until 2018 to get one, they'll "settle" for the iPhone 8.
Or just wait until next year.

My 5S is on its last legs but if I show up on launch night and can't get my phone till 2018 I may as well wait another 9 months and get the second-gen X, which'll probably have the premium price dropped to the 8 level after that line is discontinued.

Apple have done what Samsung can’t: announce a phone (the iPhone X) which causes a bleak turnout for the iPhone 8.

In 10 years, only one phone has made this happen, and it was announced by Apple!

Why would you buy an 8 when the the X is coming? It's a massive misstep from Apple. Did they expect any other outcome?

I’m embarrassed. Not for Apple, who wouldn’t have expected lines for the non-top of the line model, but for many of the posters here. They’re either not gettting these aren’t lines for the X or they’re the Samesung army. And anyway, who lines up anymore?

I mean really fellas, you’re looking stupid.

I don’t care if it’s undersold or if it’s ‘old tech’ - I’m excited to be getting my new 8 today. The X doesn’t interest me at £1000 (and yes, I can afford it) and I’m happy to stick with what I know. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. ;)

I would be so embarrassed to be seen in an Apple store.. We don't have Apple stores here, fake ones only...resellers..that hike prices and have staff that are pretty much clueless.. Apple only think of the USA...that is the problem..Apple are the stupid idiots...

Apple are taking risks: they launched a smartwatch into a market where the conclusion was ‘no one wants smartwatches’. They made one out of solid gold to see what would happen. It was discontinued, but they still took the risk.

They have gone all in with Face ID, ditching Touch ID. They stood up to the FBI.

Your analogy to a restaurant is false. Apple products like the Mac and iPhone are hugely profitable. You think they would risk sales of those products (costing anywhere between $700 and $2500) for the sake of a $50 adaptor?

Agree. I’ve never seen such hostility from a group of iPhone users to another. Judging people on which iPhone others are getting, wow. I guess these are the types that see the X as a status symbol.

Look Parrot, I’m sorry you have to live in South Africa and you can’t afford the iPhone X, but please save us watching you make a fool of yourself.
