Hey guys, dumb question, does the UDID that is registered expire and what will happen? Will Apple servers keep checking after 7.1 goes GM?

1. dunno.

2. You can extend the subscription. If you purchased your UDID reg from an online "we let you install iOS betas" service, you can create a dev account at Apple yourself, registering the same device with your account. Of course, it costs $99 a year but at least it'll work. Also, if you team up with some friends to do the same, it will be cheaper for each.

Someone on reddit disabled their device in their dev account and nothing happened, so I would presume that it won't do anything when it expires, but I don't know if they restarted the device - I think this makes a big difference.

While this is great I'm still a bit worried, did they change the 'checking system' to just check the build number? Maybe sn0w got it wrong and it always just checks the build number for an expiry? While it seems like it works, be nice if someone can go into why it works so we don't get into the same problem as before >.<

You mean it's also checking online if the offline check says it's allowed to run and will just stop running after the expiration date because of these checks? And the fact that, physically, it's still December that these betas are let run? I really hope think it's not the case.

Nevertheless, I really hope 7.0.4 will still be the current OS version when beta1 times out. Then, we'll surely know whether beta2 "phones" home for an additional data check. (It's highly unlikely beta2 has implemented / enabled this security measure, compared to b1.)

Has anyone tried this new method without removing the beta type? All I was trying to say is that I think the dev account can expire, that's fine though I'm not sure if the person that tried it restarted the device.

I hope as well that they are still signing 7.0.4 so we can test beta 1 with it, never know what other checks apple might do in the background :/

BTW, is beta1 still signed? If it is, I'll definitely do the tests around 11/jan. (The expiry of beta1)

I presume it is, no idea to be honest though. Why would they stop signing it? As far as they know it will expire :p and surly in terms of developing if something worked on b1 and not b2 (or any two in general) you'd want to give devs a reasonable amount of time to sort it out.

Sweet.
Thanks! You're saving many jail breakers from sure misery had this not been tested and shared.

Sadly you can bet that there will be tens of thousands who don't come across this post and end up with no jailbreak. What's more they probably don't have their own developer accounts either so you can imagine there will be loads of forums filled with hate in a few weeks' time...

I can confirm this works!!

Thanks so much.

Now we can have our cake and eat it too.

You can instantly tell the performance difference between this and 7.0.4.

Don't know if I am missing something but ifile just crashes when I try to launch. Anyone have a fix?

I got it to work somewhat, I used that plist that was uploaded - finally got to the lock screen, can use my phone normally, all fast, etc.

But, when I reboot (hold power - shut down) or hard reboot it will boot loop, doesn't happen when I respring, etc only when I shut down the phone completely.

Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a fix for it?

(UDID registered on my dev acct btw)

edit: yes full restore, no OTA. (I had to restore/rejailbreak/upload plist many times, I tried manually editing via iFile but no avail)
