If you change expiration to past that date without modifying the files it will stop working?
Yes. Beta 2 expires January 27th. You will receive an activation error after rebooting if you do not make the changes to the plist.

awesome wow.
I guess OP should update his title again![]()
Hey guys, dumb question, does the UDID that is registered expire and what will happen? Will Apple servers keep checking after 7.1 goes GM?
Someone on reddit disabled their device in their dev account and nothing happened, so I would presume that it won't do anything when it expires, but I don't know if they restarted the device - I think this makes a big difference.
While this is great I'm still a bit worried, did they change the 'checking system' to just check the build number? Maybe sn0w got it wrong and it always just checks the build number for an expiry?
Has anyone tried this new method without removing the beta type? All I was trying to say is that I think the dev account can expire, that's fine though I'm not sure if the person that tried it restarted the device.
I hope as well that they are still signing 7.0.4 so we can test beta 1 with it, never know what other checks apple might do in the background :/
iPad 3 tested with 7.1b2: passed.
I've used the same hacked plist: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/81986513/122013/26b2extension/SystemVersion.plist
Tomorrow, I'll post the illustrated tutorial - the screenshots are already ready.
BTW, is beta1 still signed? If it is, I'll definitely do the tests around 11/jan. (The expiry of beta1)
Sweet.
Thanks! You're saving many jail breakers from sure misery had this not been tested and shared.
is there anyway to not have your udid registered and install b2 and make this hack work? thanks
No. Beta 2 has an activation check upon install. You need a registered UDID.
ok, i did with my iPad but not the iPhone.
So you could install on your iPad, but not the iPhone. Each device has a unique UDID. You would need to register both to install to both.
