I have an iPhone 5s. If I updated it to 7.1 b2 and jailbroke it, when mobile substrate and the cydia tweaks are updated, will I still be able to use them on 7.1 even though the devs are probably just updating them for 7.0.4?

I was wondering the same thing earlier today, i highly doubt there would be substantial enough differences in 7.0.4 and 7.1b2 that would break tweaks. Devs would mainly need to update going up 1 version in iOS (5->6, 6->7) I wouldn't worry about it at all

Up to now, I had absolutely no compatibility problems under 7.1b2 on either the iPad 3 or the iPhone 5 WRT JB tweaks. That is, if a tweak works under 7.0.4, it also will under 7.1b2.

BTW, the same stands for regular AppStore apps. I maintain several large mapping apps (with pathfinding, camera, FB / Twitter etc. support) in the AppStore. I had to change a lot of "legacy" code to work properly under iOS7.0.x - that iOS version messed up the GUI pretty much. 7.1b1/2 was definitely more compatible with "legacy" iOS versions - generally, my old code runs just fine, withough UI glitches, under 7.1, unlike under 7.0.x.

However, the code I needed to modify explcitly for iOS7.0.x works just fine under 7.1.

That is, a 7.0.x-specific change will almost surely work under 7.1 as well WRT tweaks as yet.

7.1 seems essential! Seems mostly awesome on my rMini.

Not to say Safari won't crash, but in my almost two days of testing, I've had no crashes.

on 7.0.4, I had multiple in a day.

working for me, thanks!!!! lets hope that 7.1 Gm is still jailbreakable

iOS7.1b2 seems to be extremely stable. That is, if subsequent versions lose JBability, we still have a decent OS. (Unlike, say, with iOS5, where particularly early betas were absolutely unreliable.) Assuming the OS doesn't phone home to Apple to get the physical date, of course.

Could that happen? I really want to move my A7 devices up from 7.0.4 to 7.1b2 unless it would be worthless in a month from now. If 7.1b2 gets me a years worth I'd feel good about that. Thanks for all your post on the topic!

Upgrade it, the beta 2 is worth the hassle.

Here is my phone with 7.1 beta 2 jailbroken and beta timer removed on normal usage like web browsing, reddit, BBM, facebook, no music, only 1-2 wifi bars, reduce motion on and increase contrast off.

We'll know that in two weeks, when beta1 expires. I don't think b2 would behave differently.

Does anyone know anyone with beta1? If we can't find anyone, I can switch back to it on one of my devices if it's still signed by Apple, assuming 7.1b3 isn't released, disabling JB'ing, in the meantime and/or 7.1b2 is still signable.

I hope that a 7.0.5 doesn't come out and they just fix exploits in 7.1, that way we can test 7.1b1 first :/

Or ideally they just don't fix anything till 7.1.1 haha jk

Do you know when the b1 expiry date is? I have a spare iPhone 5 I could downgrade to b1 and leave to test and report back. Definitely worth it.

Please excuse my ignorance, but i was on 7.1 beta 1 few days ago on my iPhone 5S jailbroken, and since i have been following this thread, i rolled back to 7.0.4 jailbroken.

Now, what is so special about 7.1 beta 2 please ?
Can somebody elaborate ?

Also, the first page of this thread is not really clear as the solution to remove the expiry date of the beta 2...
Can somebody give a simple tutorial step by step ?

Again, i am very new to the jailbreak scene, firmware upgrade, downgrade etc.
Help would be very much appreciated !

Thanks in advance :)

iOS 7.1b2 is how iOS 7 should have been released, it fixes a lot of bugs, its a ton smoother, animations are faster and more fluid and overall a better experience. There is a step by step on the fourth page i believe.

Okay got it, thx for the infos. Also last question i have, is iFile working good on the jailbreak side of this beta ?

Cause i had ''registration failed'' msg everytime and when i powered off the device, it would go to a logo boot (screen flash, boot, then flash again).

I had to plug it to a computer and wait for 3x loops then it would go to my main screen again with no problems.

Ok. I now have iPhone 5 running 7.1 b1 (11D5099e) jailbroken and with hack applied. I'll let you know if it still works on 14th Jan. hopefully 7.0.4 will still be signed by then if it does stop working.

Thanks! You're great!

Are we sure that 7.1 has the same tweak compatibility as 7.0.4 so far? I'm noticing that any tweak using libstatusbar causes safe mode in 7.1, but it wasn't doing so in 7.0.4.

7.1 beta 2

Updated to 7.1 b1 and then to 7.1 b2 and got activation error (no udid registered or dev account).
