Basically:
  1. Jailbreak device and install iFile.
  2. Then navigate to System/Library/CoreServices and open the SystemVersion.plist in Property List viewer.
  3. Within there, delete the 'ReleaseType' Beta key per the advice from iH8sn0w and as stated at start of this thread
  4. Also within same file, overwrite the value for the key ProductBuildVersion to be 11B554a
  5. Close iFile and reboot/respring for good measure
  6. You can then test this by setting clock forwards to after the 27 January expiry for b2 and it will still reboot without going to activation issues.

Thank you! That worked for me. I also tried setting the calendar past 1/27. I put it in March of 2014 and it restarted from power on/off.

Wohoo, i did this manually with iFile and it worked!
We know so well that 7.1 beta 2 is so much better that previous beta and 0.4.
Thank you to OP and everyone in this thread who are persistent, made this possible. :D
Now i just need to wait for that mobile substrate, bitesms and zephyr

Is it normal for the evasion message "reading kernel" to come up after doing this hack and rebooting. It does boot fine butit seems to take longer and the evasion loading kernel message appears. Other than that the hack is working great!

Yes, happened for me but doesn't occur every time. Looks like the evasi0n kernel patches reapplying. I would assume the spoofed build number confuses it.

But like you say, still boots so guessing its cool.

Key will be for someone on b1 to test this works for real after the earlier January expiry date in a couple of weeks time.

Anyone at all having any issues with ifile? I reinstalled substrate and substrate safe mode but ifile crashes upon launch. Thanks

just updated to 7.1b2 and tested successfully with the changing the date method - october 2015. Have received at least one 'evasion boot' as stated.

Hopefully this works when the time really comes, 7.1b2 seems to be a big improvement over 7.0.4 on ipad air

Thank You!

i never installed substrate while running ifile, dont believe it is required, the trial version of ifile should work,at least did for me

It's not required - as with other, "standalone" apps like, for example, my iPhone5 camera tweaker or f.lux. This is why these apps can all run on 64-bit devices lacking MS.

Thank you for the tip. I did try that but it still does not work. Can you confirm the repo is big boss and 1.9.1-1 is the file?

It is. A quick Cydia screenshot also showing this:

Thanks for the screenshot. ^

Does anyone know the associated files ifile is packaged with? I will try to uninstall everything it came with and redo the whole process. Thanks!

iFile issues:

iFile becomes usable, for me, if I have downloaded it after logging in with Cydia.

Thanks for your help! Well it looks like i never purchased ifile in the first place, it is not in my list of purchased packages. Sorry for the confusion!

You don't need the purchased version. Just get the trial.

I have an iPhone 5s. If I updated it to 7.1 b2 and jailbroke it, when mobile substrate and the cydia tweaks are updated, will I still be able to use them on 7.1 even though the devs are probably just updating them for 7.0.4?
