Deb being in love with Dexter isn't that far out, actually, when one considers the descriptions she gives about her upbringing, and we know that she is on a constant mission to please her (their) father. I think it puts an interesting spin on their relationship, although it certainly does freak you out.

I'm now pretty excited to see how the next season plays out. I do think he eventually will get caught, question is how and by who.

Love this show, but sadly, the writing has gone downhill over the last 2 seasons. This season would easily have been the worst had it not been for that epic finale.

I've never looked forward to a new TV show like I'm already looking forward to Season 7, Episode 1. The possibilities are endless. Love it.

I assume the writing will get better now that they have a clear end in sight. They no longer have to drag it out just for $$$$$$.

I expect the last 2 seasons to be as good as the first 2.

He already has been caught by Deb at the end of the season. Or at least they alluded to that.

I'm well aware of that (awesome moment, by the way), but I meant as in arrested and prosecuted, or something of the like.

It's not a given that Dexter can't manipulate Deb to defend him...

Season 1= Greatness
Season 2= Supurbness

From there downhill. I disliked this Seasons villain. I disliked all of the last episode except for Dexter spoiler>> being found out by his Sister, you know the Sister who'd like to get romantically involved with her step brother. <<spoiler That was a nice 5 seconds in an otherwise anti-climatic finale. Don't you think?

Next year who knows. I'll watch just to see if Deb >> turns him in or joins him<<. LOL.

Ahem, did you forget about Season 4. Perhaps the best season of Dexter thus far?

No I did not forget. It was better than Season 3, but I did not like John Lithgow as a bad dude. Season 1&2 are as near to perfection as you can get. :)
There is something else going on here. It's tough to keep up the trills over and over again. After a while the series is going to get washed out. Compared to what came before it, this season was dismal. The only final trill was having you-know-who see Dexter in the act.

Just watched the finale today. I think this season was pretty good, especially in terms of furthering the development of Dexter's identity and world view. My wife totally called the ending as soon as Deb asked him to do a "final sweep" of the church.

If you haven't been watching Dexter from the beginning then you probably don't understand that his relationship with Deb has been the primary source of tension throughout the entire series. It has always been building toward a climax of what is Deb going to do when/if she finds out?

As far as what happens next, we have to remember that she has let a killer go in the past (remember the ending of last season when she let Dex and Lumen go). And, now we have this new complication of her feelings for him. It will be very interesting to see where the writers go now.

Also to take into consideration is how the story of Dexter the show and Dexter the book differs.

Season 1 and Darkly Dreaming Dexter are pretty similar until the end. The key difference for this argument is that Deb discovers Dexter's 'hidden talent' at the end. She then struggles through the rest of the series with doing her police work while staying loyal to Dexter.

Since the books have had plenty of time to evolve the inner workings of Deb's and Dexter's relationship (in terms of the serial killer angle), I think that we will see much of the same type of thing in the show.

As I mentioned earlier, I am much more intrigued by Louis than anything else.

Spoilers!!

Does anyone know if this (2012) Season7 will be the last season for Dexter or will there be one more? My online research has not found a definitive answer. This season with Debra discovering Dexter's hobby has pulled me back into the story and now with Capt LaGuerta zeroing in, Dexter hanging out with a woman who likes to poison people, Deb ordering hits... omg. ;)

If this is truly the end I've been imagining different endings, like Dexter dies and Deb takes over vanquishing bad guys. Dexter and Hanna run off to Argentina to live happily every after until Hanna poisons him... what else? ;)

There is one more season (confirmed by Showtime and producers of Dexter) after this.

Things got really interesting with this latest episode. The season finale looks like it's going to be awesome.

All I'll say is Holy Moly, lol! I was surprised, although I admit it was not as mind blowing as the end of Season 2. :) I hope they keep this vibe going into the last season.

^^^ For sure. I totally didn't see that coming. I do hope next season is the last and that the take the show out on top. Apparently ratings this season have been better than ever. I hope they don't let that sway them towards trying to keep the series going. It's been a great run, let it end at its peak.

It will be very interesting to see how they get around the gun situation and if the search warrants signed by the judge will just go away at this point. Sadly, it's going to be a long hiatus until next season. :(

Near the end of Season 2, I remember feeling how is he going to escape Doakes (?), who I loved as a character and the actor who played him. I was getting this feeling again, he has too much going against him, but projected Dexter would (just before it happened, lol) tie up loose ends the way he did. The surprise for me was Debra's choice.

Great news! Dexter's final season will premier earlier than usual.
Dexter Season 8 To Premier on June 30
As much as we love our yearly does of Showtime’s ‘Dexter,’ the wait time in between seasons can be torturous given the shocking cliffhangers doled out each year. Thankfully, ‘Dexter’ fans will be excited to learn that Showtime has decided to premiere ‘Dexter’s likely final year early, debuting in June 2013! ...as opposed to its usual September air-date.

Great news! Dexter's final season will premier earlier than usual.

That's interesting, ready to watch! :D

Spoiler

Will Dexter be caught or killed? Will Dexter and Debra become a romantic couple? Bottom line, will they live happily every after or will karma bite him/them on the buttock?

I've always thought of Dexter as a sick puppy, but I can stomach him because of how he usually directs his darkness. I think bottom line, you have to like him to be able to watch the show for 8 years.

Last season, Debra really headed over the edge to join her brother. I was shocked by the killing of a high ranking police officer. There seems to be an unraveling not helped by Dexter's girlfriend locked up in prison who could blab at any moment. I'm predicting a dark ending for Dex.

Last season we left Debra Morgan wondering if her soul was going to burn in hell. Tonight, the last and final season premier, we see if the dark passenger has gained another convert...
