How much time between dev & public beta release? I'm on public and would love to have a working play/pauze button :-D

Still nothing showing here. Really getting fed up with this whole beta testing crap. I’ve never had such an issue getting a beta.

I got mine to update as well this morning. Oddly enough the get beta updates reappeared magically this morning. With yes checked the ATV4K would not update. I unchecked get beta updates then clicked update again and boom it started downloading. Weird behaviour that is for sure.

Catoagu I had this issue as well but I just signed out of iCloud and then in again and everything started working in the music app.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it doesn't work for me. I have separate iTunes and iCloud accounts, so that might have something to do with it. Ah well, I'll go back to 11.2.5 again until the next beta, it's only really frame rate matching that I want the beta for at the moment so it's not a big deal. Thanks anyway.

Yup just updated. Still have the translucent box in the middle of the screen when watching HDR material in Infuse, and the video hud still shows the total time of the video on the right side, not how long remains, so I guess that is a deliberate choice from here on out. A shame you can't choose the old way as an option, but Apple gonna be Apple.

On my 4th Gen ATV when i turn on Content Match, Hulu and Netflix plays everything at 24p. Anybody else have this problem?

Most of the content is recorded in 24fps so that would make sense. HD film is recorded in 24fps or 24p

It's giving everything I play the "motion smoothing" look, even older shows like ER.

RGB high and low settings appear to be reversed in the latest beta.

Can anyone else confirm this is the case on their end?

That’s not the motion smoothing effect that’s how it looks. You are used to your tv not playing shows in the proper format and have gotten used to them being displayed incorrectly.

24fps has been used in films and television for decades upon decades. The majority of tv shows and movies are filmed in that format and you are only now getting to see how they are supposed to look. Back and I mean way back in the day that format was decided upon because it had the best mix of lifelike movement and cost. People became so used to that format that it just kept being used. There is media that isn’t (like the hobbit which was 60fps and one of the first movies to embrace it on a large scale and critics were not a fan because it took away from the imagery and fantasy aspect) Cameron will be releasing the new avatar movies in 120fps which will be the first major movie release to do so (I could be mistaken here).

Some new tv shows film in higher frame rates but higher frame rates are mostly used for reality tv, sports and newscasts. The main thing is movies and tv shows aren’t supposed to be real they are a stylized look at a topic / event and the artistic aspect of film is to make sure you can tell it is stylized and that’s what 24fps does. We perceive it as different then how we regularly see the world because in real life our brain and eyes processes at a higher frame rate then 24fps.

The problem with Netflix and auto frame-rate applying the same setting for every video file it serves, is some titles will have frame skips - watch shows from Europe and Australia and you will notice this eg the recent German series Dark - skips frames because it is not native 24Hz.

I use ycbcr and I'm convinced that the update has made the image noticeably darker.

This is what made me to realize that the RGB setting was not functioning properly.

I use ycbcr as well and have had to keep my brightness on my tv two clicks up to normally (according to the built in calibration image) After the new beta I had to turn it back down because my blacks where now slightly too light.

I decided to see if it affected RGB as well at that point which is when I discovered the mismatching of low and high.

You are absolutely correct. The two are obviously related. Perhaps the conversion being done from ycbcr to RGB by the ATV is defaulting to the incorrect settings now that they are reversed, which is why we are seeing a ycbcr that crushes black detail on our sets. Either way, it is an easy fix to just use the appropriate RGB setting ourselves.

Was ycbcr also broken on the first beta for you? I didn't notice it.

Everything was perfectly fine until this new beta.
Ycbcr need an adjustment of two clicks up on my set to be in line with the calibration image, but nothing was washed out or crushed beforehand.

Looks like the Plex app has stopped playing any video content, as of last night's public beta. The app starts and works as before, but hitting play just results in a black screen and a spinner. ATV4 (non-K).

When I get home I'm going to check the Plex forums for clues...

Ahh plex and the video start issues. When this last happened to me I paused the video then skipped ahead 10 seconds and the video loaded. I just tried this with my ATV4K and it worked. Have not tried it with the ATV4 yet.

To further my post above I noticed Plex just pushed an update. I tried on my ATV4 and had no video issues.
