Damn, owned for 7 months and outdated already.![]()
Switching to lightning connector makes sense in the iPad, that way their whole (most) mobile line can switch to lightning in the same year. Improved interior would be nice, does it still over heat with the retina display?
Yeah, but my 3rd gen iPad does something this new revised iPad cannot - it runs the Google maps application because it is still running iOS 5.1.1.
They will, at some point, release an ipad with lightning connector.
Your options are hardly limited.
This was expected & will be a near silent update. It will not include any performance or feature updates. Existing dock connector models will not be fire saled. Apple just wants consistency among all iOS products & doesn't want to wait until the next true update in the spring.
WAAAHHHH now my iPad is absolete!! How dare Apple continue making new products!!!!
Some of you people really need to grow up. your (new) iPad will still continue working just fine. Apple has no obligation to leave certain amount of time between refreshes. It will be an extremely minor update anyway. New connector and probably new screen technology that will allow better battery life.
I think you guys really need to think outside the box. Apple doesn't need to stick to rigid 1 yr refresh cycles. I expect iPad updates to be more unpredictable just like Mac's. That's why it's now "iPad" instead of adding the number.
Ever notice how people who read books (you know, the ones made of paper) tend to hold them in one hand? Ever notice how people who use an iPad have both hands tied up like an idiot because it's too wide to grip with one hand? I can just barely do it and I have long fingers. A 7" is a one-hand iPad, and some people will enjoy that. Rumor has it that this event will focus on iBooks, ya think it's a coincidence that they're introducing a 7" iPad at the same time? And that's exactly why I said imo cause to me anything smaller is ridiculous. And I lol at people who think the iPad is too big to take around
Why is it unfair? If there is a defect then bring it to the Apple store for repair/replacement.
Presumably those people that bought 2 months ago did so because they WANTED an iPad. They GOT an iPad. And my guess is that they are HAPPY with that iPad.
Apple, or any company, doesn't owe them stopping or delaying releases. Manufacturers don't need to protect resale values.
Please make sure you post your complaint that you file here on these message boards. It will make for some fine reading!
A lot of people are in the same situation, myself included. I'm not going to buy a new iPad just so the connector is the same as my iPhone 5. I'll buy a new iPad on the next full update cycle if its worth updating. How can you say that?
Right now, I do not have the option of buying an iPadthat shares connectors with my iPhone 5. By definition that option is limited. There is no other way of interpretting that.
Many believe that because they bought their devices 6 months ago that I should be forced to wait for some arbitrary time frame. That's asinine.
They shouldn't have been charging premium price for a product they planned to make old news within 6 months. People need to get what we are saying here, in that the iPad if it refreshed so soon was not value for money. Period.
are you stupid? you really think Apple would downgrade the iPad in anyway?
wow
Having two different times for substantial updates to two big product lines must be making life easier during retooling and product testing. However, March is just past western and Chinese new year gift giving seasons and a few months too early for summer break gift giving. They might move the A6X + whatever else type of a big update towards late April or May, but not any closer to the iPhone launch.Wonder what this means for the March iPad cycle release.
I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see an update in March anymore...
Where do you live? What kind of problems did you have? Around here it worked better for me than Google Maps or Garmin using Nokia's maps.Haha! I can't call you out on that! I don't use Maps enough to not upgrade to iOS 6. But Apple Maps really is very bad.
Tim: "You know - we're going to make a KILLING on selling these new adapters and cables because of the iPhone 5. We're not really due for a refresh of the iPad - but if we went ahead and sold one with the new cable, we could sell ever more lightening cables. No reason to wait. "
I just sold it on eBay
£80 les then what i paid for it when i bought it at Apple store 7 months ago.
Releasing a new product its fine. Fixing problems and re-launching within few months its unfair for the consumer.
I will post pics of the new iPad!
