I knew the new new iPad would be the new news!

Will this new new iPad change the old "new" iPad to the new "old" iPad?

very nice - what I was busy typing when you posted was garbage compared to this +1

they could call it The Newer iPad, the 5th gen obviously being The Newest iPad and then they would have to change it up for the 6th gen and call it the PostNewest iPad, but the 7th gen name would potentially be cumbersome unless they get more creative, probably iPad 7 would be best

Seems like Apple is loosing it's focus on clients...

Looks like Apple's concern shifted from clients to manufacturer's war now. Saying the same, they behave a bit different as before. This will spread confusion and uncertainty among users. Apple's stuff was easy to sell, that's one of things that made it attractive, but how wiil it look in the future? And every wallet has it's bottom, so people will start thinking about buying new stuff. Why would I buy a new iPad/iPhone if my own is still ok, and I don't know for how long my "new" one will actually be new?

I don't understand people who get upset when a new revision comes out. Are you upset because you want the new one? Then either buy it or stop complaining, it's not Apple's fault for making something you want to have but don't want to pay for.

Or are you upset not because you want to get it, but because it means you no longer have the latest model? Is it really so important that you have the latest thing? If so, that sounds like some kind of compulsion.

For me it's all about resell value. I sold my 64gb iPad 2 for only 100 dollars less than the original price.

If I were to sell this iPad (3rd gen LTE 64gb) in order to get the new one (which im not), I would probably lose a good amount of money.

Would you rather buy a used iPad 3 or a used revised iPad 3?

Dont make sense But

after reading loads of comments here

all i coud conclude is that

MS finally got into the game, their one true rival:mad:

give no room to breathe;)

its shopping season

all the shopping money should be spent at the apple store:p

there is an iPad for everyone, mini , full size , whatever u want

The connector is only a big deal if you have a ton of third party accessories that use the 30-pin dock connector. Otherwise, it doesn't matter at all. I own a first generation iPad and I have a fifth Generation iPod touch on its way here. The fact that the latter takes a different connector than the former only means that the additional cable that I had for the fourth gen iPod touch that I sold to buy the fifth gen will be dedicated solely to my iPad. No biggie. It's not like Apple isn't using the same chargers for iPods/iPhones and iPads (respectively) that they were doing for the few years leading up to the lightening connector announcement.

I think you missed the point. Apple does not want to give someone a reason to wait IF IT MATTERS.

If you choose not to care then no effect on you. A group of people will care. You know the ones I said... "IF you do not already own an Ipad."

If you owend JUST the new ipod and NOT an iPad. You would want the wait a few weeks or months for the same connector just because you know its coming.

That is a possibility, but there will probably be a few upset people with an iPad that went out of date faster then an Android phone.

As most Android phones are out of date about a week before they launch, I don't think your comparison is right :p

On a serious note: It would not surprise me if Apple changed it to Lightning at the least, as this will move the entire mobile range to Lightning and be a futher catalyst for accessory manufacturers to make compatible accessories

The way I see it, they're changing up the cycle so the iPad comes out before the Xmas season, instead of coming out for the next season, which people have forgottent it a little more by the next Xmas and also all sorts of android tabs come out right around Xmas trying to win on specs alone.

Apple will sell more iPass overall with a fall ipa schedule. Also, this gives them more time for a major redesign coming in 2013 fall, cause you know it ill be a completely new design the.

The fact is we all know, in true Apple style, the new tweaked iPad will do something that the 3rd gen cannot. A feature that makes it sell and puts 3rd gen owners truly behind the times.

Wonderful news if this appears to be true. Exactly what I want. My credit card is more than ready! :) Apple....please take my money! :D

Like all the other comments here my predictions are completely based on no facts what so ever but here my views:

- Lightning connector - yes
- 4G / LTE Upgrade - yes
- Sharp display - moderate chance
- Improved Battery life - good chance but linked to the Sharp display
- A6X processor - unlikely (will save that for next year)

I really think the lightning connector and 4G/LTE are a given but anything else is a "bonus" - I don't think Apple will want to totally alienate the iPad3 owners, of which I count myself as one.

My iPad 3 is plenty powerful enough, never feels that hot (and it's in an enclosed wallet type case), battery life is fine and the display is even. Sure, a better processor and the Sharp display are attractive additions, however I'll still keep this one for a couple of years then pass it onto my children before getting the current "New" iPad of the time. I also think this tweak is a case of Apple moving the 12 month product cycle to pre-Christmas launch.

Finally, when the new iPad does come out I look forward to the countless threads obsessing about every perceived issue.:rolleyes:

Yeah, but my 3rd gen iPad does something this new revised iPad cannot - it runs the Google maps application because it is still running iOS 5.1.1 :D.

If the iPad mini is introduced with the redesigned chassis (as rumored), it is likely the full sized iPad will receive a similar update.

Great, apple, you are gonna make millions of customers' 'new iPad' obsolete in just 7 months, just so you can push the idiotic 'lightning connector' which offers no high speed transfer and simply serves as a medium to get more money from accessory makers.

Obsolete? What? Are Apple planning to remotely disable all the new iPads? Please tell me it isn't so!! I'm disgusted!

Actually when I think about it, I don't care since I have an iPad 1 and an iPad 2 and they're both still working. As is my four year old car, my iPhone 4 and in fact my four year old iMac and my two year old Macbook Air. I think/hope you get my point? :D

Why does some people just dont want to understand the naming of the iPads?
Since the last iPad (3rd gen) Apple moved to the Desktop/Laptop-variant of naming.
New MacBook Pros are also just called 'the new MacBook Pro' and then you get things like 'late 2012' and so on.. :)

Yes, I'm sure you're right. The 30 pin accessory market will disappear overnight despite the fact that millions of 3 generations of iPads, and 2 of the 3 iPhones still sold have it. And I'm sure app developers will immediately ignore the 3rd generation iPad, just as today new apps only run on the 3rd generation iPad and iPhone 5, and no previous models...

Really???
Wow over exaggerate much? The market will not disappear over night, but new devices development is going to be around the lightning cable with a crappy converter. Remember the old firewire cables for the original iPods?? nope.... dont worry want take long for the 30pin to be gone..

The relationship between the Cable and apps running on apple devices, do tell more??

Really????

hope there is way to upgrade with minor fee

If the change is limited to little cosmetic changes like lightning + battery. I wish there is an option to upgrade to new one for a small fee...

Btw I don't really get why they are releasing 'another' device with lightning (id this is the only reason)when they are already struggling with producing enough cables. Probably there is more reason than putting in lightning...

Cause I bought a new iphone called, iphone 5, not the new iPhone ;) Apple is contradicting their own naming conventions.
