I'm paying attention: I just don't care what Kanye thinks and didn't listen to what he said before he went bonkers. I have been on Twitter for years and have literally never seen a Nazi or white supremacist post. If I ever stumbled on a post, I'd ignore it or block the user. I don't care if people with right wing accounts are on the platform - again, I'd ignore any nut I saw.

The intolerance with opposing viewpoints is just staggering.

Because ignoring Nazis worked so well the first time?

Elon just wanted to be Tom from MySpace

Also, if I never update do I save the bird?

Ok, he was a co founder. But he is the main co founder. There is no Tesla without Musk.
I’m not going into this issue but who cares apart from Musk because of sentimental value. This keeps popping up regularily and yes it’s important to Musk, but why is it some important point?

Then everyone conveniently forgets how important Starlink is in the war in Ukraine. Russia would probably have won without Starlink and in-fact it is worrying to NATO how much reliance they have on Starlink.

But go ahead and concentrate on founder or co-founder. I’m sure that’s the only measure of the man….

I don’t really like the X rebranding. But it’s funny seeing the criticism of Musk. He’s made more money than anyone criticizing him. He has two very successful businesses that make high tech, real world products that are best in class. That doesn’t mean this rebranding will work. But people are crazy if they are sure Musk is a clueless idiot.
By the ratio of likes and dislikes on your comment, you have been totally proven wrong…
The people criticizing have more successful businesses, live better lives, are in better health/fitness/financial shape, and if they were given the chance they would helm electric cars, outer space endeavors and many other things a lot better than him.
Right?! Right…

I don’t like Musk but not even for a second believe I would do better (let alone capable of doing it) even if I were gifted some odd billion dollars, for god’s sake. In fact would just probably disappear, just like I would never become a manager I would never dream of a huge company, presidency and whatnot. (because I dislike with a passion having to be on people’s soup).

Him at least wasting his lifetime on these endeavors is at least commendable. Envy, jealousy and hate comes from beneath.

Or don’t read this. Can’t tell journalists how to do their work.

How am I to know ahead of time that an article includes an embedded Tweet?

Are you saying I should just avoid MacRumors all together!?

I’m not telling antibody how to do their job. I asked. They don’t have to listen 🙄

I know, it's really weird that companies rebrand and change over the years. Weve never seen anything like this from any other company before. just simply mind-blowing.

While rebranding is not necessarily uncommon, it usually doesn't involve going from a well-established brand and company name to one that has no significance or recognition in the market like what happened here with both the Twitter company being changed to X Corp and the Twitter brand/product being changed to X.

If a brand/product name change was to happen now, it would've made more sense to go with something like "X Twitter", "Twitter by X", "Twitter, an X app" at least initially. To replace a well-established name with one that has no meaning (yet) was premature at best.

Also, if a company is going to do a radical rebranding, they should strip away the old name to show a strong commitment to the new one. Practically all they did at this point was change the logo to X and "de-Twitter" the app description/details. The Twitter name is still otherwise seen throughout.

I never figured we'd ever get to see what happens when you give a total manchild full control of one of the largest social media platforms, yet here we are.

I don't just blame Elon; I also blame the Twitter board for forcing the sale. Elon wanted to back out of the transaction but the board insisted. The blame is shared by both.

Freaking greedy idiots. Twitter had its faults but now it's a total mess. I hope lessons were learned from this. I doubt it.
I think these people are incapable of learning. The unintelligent algorithms everyone is hell-bent on calling “AI” shows better “reasoning” ability, probably because it was designed to complete sentences, therefore uses statistics to “guess” likely outcomes, not to maximize profits and demonstrate appalling levels of hubris and greed (which is what these same kinds of people are actually trying to do with it).

Whether it's not getting a permit to take down the Twitter sign on the side of the building...
Whether it's not getting a permit to put up his penile extension sign on the top of the building...

(a building he does not pay office rent on, BTW)

Or whether it's flooding environmental wetlands with his rocket launches.

He thinks "rules" and "permits" are for the little people...

The disdain he has for us is real and palpable.

For now I'm calling it "TwitterX". But the way it was simply called "X" is pretty unusual. It reminds me of how "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" had an owl puppet named X in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

It's funny how emotional people get about this, and about Musk in general. If you don't care about Musk's world views and politics, and you weren't someone that felt strongly that your political opponents are evil and should be silenced, then really your experience using Twitter/X are virtually unchanged. I open the app, i scroll through the tweets of people I like to follow, I chuckle, I leave. I did that before, and I still do that. Literally nothing is different. Maybe if you were some kind of power user using a third party app it's different, or if you were so thin skinned that being offended online felt like you were being personally attacked, then yeah I guess go use Threads. It'll be an echo chamber. But then again, that's probably all you really want.
Musk allows hate speech.

Hmm, wonder if there's a Safari or Chrome extension that could blank out... posts ...for you. Seems like the easiest and best solution if somethings out there (or somebody should build it if there's demand).

I love it. Someone gives me a thumbs down/disagrees with me, but doesn't (can't) back it up with proof Musk doesn't have a fiduciary duty to his private Twitter / X shareholders.
I don’t like thimbs down reactions for this reason. I’m actually the one person that didn’t mind the change to YouTube.
