It's currently in beta. testflight quota expired in 1 day and everyone has an account there.
I'm sure it will become more popular after a while.

You've still not answered my question. Which former CEO & what is their involvement? If you set your quota to 50 test users...well, you get what I'm saying. you're not providing any credible information at all. This is spam, my dude

What makes me skeptical of Mastodon is that it is decentralized. There isn't a clear set of T&C across all the servers. And a server owner has access to everything the users on their server post, including private messages, etc. Also, if they ever decided to delete their server, your account is gone. So I'm holding off for now until there's more discussion & resolution around this.
tbh your server shutting down was a concern of mine also. Look for a server with a large userbase that is part of their server covenant, which promises that they'll give you a 3 month warning before shutting down the server to give you plenty of time to move your account. Promises can be broken obviously but still better than nothing.

jack dorsey. Don't expect everything from me, ask a little google.

You're trying to push an app on ppl, you're going to need to come up with information. And I already know it's Jack. he gave them 14 bitcoins after someone asked him to help with some funding so he did because he could. That's all. He's not involved at all outside of that so maybe you should Google a little?

Fair. I actually do have an acct that I've not posted anything on yet. Just holding my username on it for now. I chose a server that a well known journalist and my favorite author are on. For now. lol.

You completely misunderstand. You can't find out from google. You should follow their chats on the platform.

Look, Damus just does not pass the smell test for me. You come out of nowhere in this thread talking about Twitter clients dying with this literally-who app you are REALLY trying to sell and basically using the thread as a soapbox for it.

On topic, does anyone really think this banning of 3rd party clients will affect Twitter in the long run? With the workforce for the site getting smaller and smaller due to Muskrat, that is going to put a lot of added strain on them if users who used these clients BECAUSE the main app/site sucked are forced to go back to the place they left, discontent and demanding needed changes to make them more usable.

Most likely.

I’ve check Nostr out and from my understanding, it’s basically trying to be the Fediverse. It just looks more convoluted to use.View attachment 2145921

Yeah, it's the bitcoin bros latest grift. Passing on this. And really really weird that someone who claims to not have any connection to it is pushing it so hard. And if they are connected, they are violating MR rules.

You are right but mine is just a suggestion. you don't want to use it. This is entirely your choice.

My bet: they literally dont have enough people left to maintain, or document, a stable public API. Saw earlier today that they’re down to 20% of staff

Who gets to tell a private company what it should or shouldn’t do? Can/can’t may be defined by law, but should/shouldn’t? The morality police? And whether you like it or not, with enough money you absolutely get to do what you want without rules or regulations. Not everyone gets away with it but some certainly do.

Additionally, here’s an article that makes the point that Twitter under Elon Musk reneged on its own API agreement. So is that within the realm of “private companies should be able to do whatever they want”? 🤔

We sure give the wealthy and powerful, and corporations more privilege and leeway than we do the average citizen.

The guy doesn’t know what exactly he is doing. How is he still the CEO of the company? He must be making all the decisions by himself without consulting with anyone.

People have to remember, you're using a free service. This has to be paid for some how and that's mostly handled by advertising. If third-party tools don't show paying ads, both advertisers complain and Twitter makes no money.

There's literally zero incentive for Twitter to allow third party apps.
