That's the same restriction Apple has this year. You can have it held after the first delivery attempt. You should plan to call the number listed on the UPS Missed delivery notice.

Dave

I literally spent the whole day on the phone with Verizon and UPS.

I spoke to a total of seven reps. Not one told me that. Even after I asked about it multiple times.

What you’re telling me makes complete sense though, and I just figured the UPS/Verizon reps must be bonkers!

Thank you.

So sorry to hear.

I so enjoyed my tradition of driving to pick mine up at the CC.
I had suspected my luck was probably going to run out when everybody else that has tried to get a hold has been told by Apple that it’s a no go this time.

Oh well now I won’t have to share any Krispy Kreme‘s with her, haha.

Normally you can have it held at UPS, but with the past years of people flooding into UPS Customer Counter (hubs), they put a stop to it.

UPS most likely told Apple to restrict any changes to CC pickups.

Your can elect to have it sent to a neighbor next door if you are not going to be able to sign for it.

My house is located behind security gates where UPS has full access, so the driver will drop off the box at my doorstep because he knows the area is safe to do so.

First post on first page is an faq, right?
There are a number of "sticky" threads in each forum... but not sure how you make people read them. It's easier to just post the question. It matters not (to the poster) if the question has been asked a thousand time already... they just want someone to give them the answer.

In this thread alone (purchased from Apple.com) we've had questions about Boost mobile, xfinity mobile and others. People just don't read, don't bother with rules or even suggestions. They just want someone to answer their question.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

I have a question. I’m in multi apartment building with mailroom. Will UPS require my signature or
the signature of mailroom employee is enough? Any experience?

Is a Signature Required on these UPS orders? My tracking doesn't seem to indicate that Signature is Required, but I'd like to be sure.

Edit: sorry, wrong thread. Meant to post this in the Verizon thread.

OK, so does anyone have any experience getting a phone shipped from Verizon?

It seems that Verizon puts a restriction on the package so you can’t have it held at your local UPS center for pick-up.

So how on earth do you ever get your phone if you can’t take the day off work? Like can you finally request that it be held at a service center after the first delivery attempt? Or does UPS just do three delivery attempts and then if you’re never there, they send it back to Verizon and you get billed some return fee?

At this point, I’m not really worried about getting it on Friday, I just wanna be able to get it someday at all.
Last time I ordered from Verizon they told me 1 delivery attempt has to be made and then they will allow you to have it held.

... or maybe they're just overworked answering the same question over and over and over again from people who want special treatment that is contrary to the published procedures ... #justsayin

In past years, you could not order iphones or watches the first 2-3 days of launch, for same day pick up. I think they were worried about things showing as in-stock in the store, then having it get sold as you checked out online. The in-store stock changes so fast the first couple days.

You can try it of course, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work on Friday, Saturday, and maybe Sunday.
If my local stores have any in stock can I change the order to pickup instead, or is it locked since I've already ordered it?

This might also change once phones go through customs if they are some of the ones coming from china. I've seen options become available after that but we will see.

If Apple doesn't absolutely require a signature, I believe UPS leaves the decision to the discretion of the driver. Usually they have the same drivers on the same routes, so they tend to know how "safe" or how likely the unsigned delivery is to make it to the customer.

Same mine doesn't show it. When I clicked driver instructions and choose to have it left at the front door something about an electronic signature release came up and i checked it. Also if you ask the automated chat it says that if a signature was required it would show on the top of the tracking.

Yes, you can pick up at the Apple store and then when your order comes in, return it within 14 days.

I have done that in the past because of delivery issues (UPS driver waited till end of his shift and decided not to deliver on launch day).

I think you said you were off, I would just wait for the phone chilling lol, see the other persons story about the intercept . He got lucky they let him in the USP CC on a Saturday , the UPS Hub has workers on Saturday loading but the CC is closed .

The kraken has already been released. At this point, the phone you ordered is already en route to you, so you would have to wait for delivery then take your chances at a store, or take you chances at a store, then return the phone that UPS delivered to you.

Speaking of accessories, I was going to avoid using a scree protector, but changed my mind last minute. Ordered a Torras one that’s getting delivered tomorrow. Hopefully the edges aren’t as thick and sharp as the Belkin one from last year.

Has anyone had any luck arranging to hold their iPhone delivery at UPS for pickup? I first tried contacting UPS today, but they told me the shipper needs to arrange it. So, I reached out to Apple, but they said since the package hasn’t technically shipped, they can’t make changes. However, my iPhone has clearly shipped—I have a tracking number and can see it sitting in Kentucky. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on how to resolve this?

I got a silicone case delivered yesterday and they required a signature, despite not saying on the tracking page.
Weird my MagSafe and case both came UPS and neither did. They knocked and asked for a signature or was someone already there? UPS will ask if they leave it with like a receptionist or if they meet someone in person.

Since I shipped to my office this year, I haven’t been able to use my choice (can’t register a commercial address) so since international customer service got me my tracking number I reached out to UPS via the app formerly known as Twitter and asked if they can give me a delivery window. Looks like 9:15 to 12:15. If that remains true, I’ll have my 16PM by lunch time and can spend my break setting it up and wiping my trade in so that my coworker can box it up and take it to FedEx once my trade in kit arrives while I’m out of the country.

Come on UPS, don’t let me down. I don’t want to stay at the office until 8pm.
