The Door Tag left by the UPS driver only has the nationwide 800 number on it.
The question about the Door tag was to confirm the driver actually completed a Delivery Attempt to the door vs a Drive by. Our local UPS Center has 2 numbers on the sticky door tag. The 800 Generic number and a local number and address stamped on every slip.

Wow, wish I had the local UPS number.

I have to step thru so many hoops on the national toll free number, I don't bother anymore.

Monday will be the day I find out if my pre-ordered iPhone 16 Pro was stolen.

Already setup to file the police report and have the employee(s) fired and charged with a felony (embezzlement).

Yes it comes in very handy for Signature required packages.

They will never tell you the employee(s) status after the investigation. When UPS opens an investigation. They review all the internal cameras and interview any employee's in the area when your package was scanned. There are often up to 3 individuals in the process of getting the packages to the truck and loading the truck. The driver does not scan each package again on the truck as it would really slow down the dispatch.

The driver does need to scan in any missed delivery packages when they return their truck.

Did you get your T-Mobile activation completed with out visiting a TMO store? I replied on the other thread that was moved to the iPhone Tips, Help and Trouble shooting section.

Very good to know how UPS investigations are handled.

Is it true that my son says that the stolen phone is probably headed out of country as the blacklisted IMEI won't work outside the US but will function fine in other countries ??

And could not get the phone to activate - had to visit a TMO store this morning - enabled it in 1 minute !

Some of smaller MVNO providers ignore the Lost/Stolen Blacklist for IMEI/MEID and the Separate IMEI2. However most are sent overseas to countries that don't check the Global IMEI/MEID database as your son told you.

Most if not all are are stolen by Porch Pirates as an organize group vs the UPS delivery drivers. They actually follow UPS / FedEx trucks and watch for the now familiar small Apple boxes to be dropped off at the front door. They often have an under age runner grab the package.

However we don't know if it was actually Stolen at this point until UPS confirms that it is missing tomorrow. Fridays are always closed out in a hurry but come Monday when there is a search for a package they often appear.

99.9% of UPS employees know about the enhanced tracking around iPhone Launch Day package deliveries and they will not risk being Fired for a single iPhone. It is just not worth the effort.

UPS apparently found my phone. It’s now in Colorado so I should get it tomorrow. Funny thing is Amazon has delayed my wife’s case, so she’s has been going naked while I have my case but not my phone.

Well since it's so quiet in here, I'll share my final task from the pre-order. BTW - loving my desert 16 Pro Max so far.

I received my trade-in kit today from FedEx. I needed to go to the mall anyways, so I brought my old phone with me and first went to the Apple Store. It was a zoo. I wouldn't have been surprised if they didn't have time for me since I didn't have an appointment or anything, but the employee that greeted me was super nice and got me someone in minutes!

I was able to trade-in my old phone in person, and got refunded the amount I was quoted. Now I don't have to mail in the box with my old phone. And boy the trade-in kit box is flimsy and small. So glad I was able to get that taken care of!

It’s really kind of weird that some people got the return kit from FedEx and then some got it from UPS. Mine comes tomorrow from UPS. I have no idea why it’s always been FedEx before and then I would ship it back via UPS.
just following the tracking for that, I wasn’t supposed to get the box till Tuesday, that probably would’ve came on a truck like the phone, however, I’ve already seen with my tracking that the trade-in box has come via plane to my city today for delivery tomorrow. Just kind of weird ha ha

I'm trading in my old Apple Watch and iPhone this year. I just got 2 trade-in boxes, as expected. But both look exactly the same and there's no way to figure out which is for which device. Does anyone know how I can figure this out? Thanks

There should be a trade in number or an offer number attached to each trade-in. Check the labeling. And I have the same question, trading in 2 phones for 2 new phones. Havent received either kit yet but and hoping this is the solution!

I already tried to look that up, but there's no offer number or anything on the package.

BUT! I just realized I can match up the FedEx tracking numbers from the order to the package, and that seems to dissipate the confusion. Still...this is not a great system at all. Apple should have something better in place.

UPS only will try 3 times to deliver Apple orders. After 1 delivery attempt you can request it be held for pickup. Did you get an Attempted delivery slip on your first attempt with a local phone number to call?

Dave

With all the delivery attempts, has there been a door tag left at your apartment?
No tags left either time. The rep I talked to on Friday said it doesn’t matter if he didn’t leave a tag because the package is blocked from all options expect redeliver or return to sender.

The rep I talked to on Saturday said that Saturdays don’t count as a second delivery attempt, only Monday-Friday.

I think it does matter. It lets the customer know they were there and didn't deliver it.

That makes sense - since Apple placed shipper restrictions on all deliveries.

It's not a normal UPS delivery with options like customer pickup, door tags, hold for up to 5 days after 3rd delivery attempt, etc...

Apple restricted delivery so that they are not responsible for mis delivered or re-directed packages or allowing someone else to pickup.

It's Apple's way of confirming that the physical address and delivery matches.

I'll be waiting to see what happens to mine today since there has not been a second or Saturday delivery attempt.

No movement since Friday morning when it arrived to the distribution hub.

I'm sorry that your phone is still lost, mine finally got found and is preparing for delivery. Did you try to file a claim with UPS? https://www.ups.com/us/en/support/file-a-claim.page I tried to do that on Saturday and they said they needed more time and magically my phone had a scan then.

Ordered on Sunday, 9/15 and got a delivery estimate of Oct-3-8. No movement so far. Given that they had lots of devices available in-store on Sat/Sun, I really hoped they'd be able to move up my delivery time.
