Glad to see Apple.com doing better this year. Logged into ATT at 7:56, ordered three phones. Got a confirmation by 8:05. Shipping Sept 19 for delivery on the 20th.
ATT is always faster. Less people ordering.

Desert Ti Pro 256 coming from Apple store next Friday. Now to decide if I want to change carriers or not. VZ is too $$ and frankly the coverage is worse than my GF's T-Mobile. I may even switch to Consumers (runs on AT&T network) and halve my bill.

After a frustrating 45 minutes, I finally got my order: iPhone 16 Plus 512 GB Ultramarine color. The T-Mobile web site was a bit overwhelmed. I ordered the 16 Plus because I realize I barely use my phone to take pictures.

You don’t know me or my life. I have had plenty of struggles and know what it’s about. I am saying in the grand scheme of things apparently how bad the economy is. I am fascinated every year it’s not a problem for people to drop $1k+ on these. Financed or not.
I think it’s mostly because the economy is actually pretty good. I got my order in for launch day delivery for a natural PM 256MB, so I’m happy 😁

Again though you’re looking at a very small percentage of the population. And of that small percentage most are also trading old devices in. After trade in I for example, am only paying a little under half for the new phone. Makes a difference.

My comment sincerely was not meant as n insult. Sorry if you took it that way.

Should I be worried if I haven’t gotten charged yet? Checked out at 8:05 and got email confirmation. Used Apple Pay with my new Apple Card (still in the mail). No charge showing yet.

Stores get inventory of iPhones on launch day. You may be able to snag what you want by going on Apple.com and going thru the process of purchasing and then looking to see if it's available at your Apple Store.

If you do the IUP and in store pick up, do you get charged for even the tax right away? My order went through and says “order placed”. But I haven’t seen any charge go through. I also used a different card when checking out than what is on my Citizens One account so hope that’s not a problem. I figured the card I used at checkout would just go to the tax.

Anyone not seen a charge yet for IUP and in store pick up and know if checking out with different card than Citizens One is a problem?

Double check it because I selected store pickup and already received notification that my store pickup slot is reserved. It is in your confirmation email.
Turns out paying via Apple Pay changed my order status from pickup to deliver. I canceled and just reordered.

FWIW Pro 256 naturals are still launch day deliveries - no delays. It let me choose a pickup window on that Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

I still have no confirmation e-mail, got my order in at 8:02, but my card is charged and the order shows up in my orders in the Apple store. You should be fine.

Had my pre-order ready in advance and using the store app on iOSand fully signed in and I had no way to check out with Apple Pay. Had to put all my details in manually like the good old days and lost my initial pickup appointment.

Hmm many of us were able to order on AT&T 20 minutes before your 7:56 using the My AT&T app. AT&T is not immune to pre-order issues. They have also been late a few years and even lose or miss label orders at the distribution center. One year I got my phones and one for another customer in the same box from the Ft. Worth distribution center.

AT&T gets bulk shipments directly from Apple and then has to label and scan the box to add it to your account. They often put the Apple box in a larger box with the return materials for any trade-ins. Multiple manual steps. Stuff happens along the way.

Oh ok. Several had said they already had their cards charged so I got worried. I did select in store pickup though.
Ordered two iPhones, both with different credit cards and none of them have been charged for now. As long as you got the confirmation mail you should be fine.
