QUESTION - Does StandBy mode when charging in landscape also work in the regular iPhone 16? or does the screen turn off because it doesn't have always on display?

I had my iPhone 16 Pro pre-order setup in the Apple Store app yesterday. Can't really bring myself to actually pull the trigger this morning. I've upgraded every single year since the iPhone 3G. Just seems like a pointless upgrade this year. Congrats all who have their orders in.

I could place my order for iphone 16pro ( Australia) vka apple australia website. Got an email from " your_order_AU@orders.apple.com " regarding my purchase. The email Id sounds a bit phishing however when I checked ln my order status on apple website, it does show that order is in progress. Maybe Im just being paranoid but wanted to check with you geniuses if this is a legit email ID or anyone on the same boat?

I feel the same but I did it anyway. Respect for having more self-control than me.

Let’s all hope our 9/20 delivery dates stick, there have been times where the dates change once the status changes into preparing to ship or shipped.

Just received an update from Apple Store, my payment was declined. Called Ally Credit card and they said it was flagged for fraud ( even though I called yesterday and spoke to an agent to make aware) . After speaking to their fraud dept, they told me someone from management will call me 3-6 mins later and that never happened.

Apple was kind enough to allow me to use another form of payment which I did. Least I didn't lose my place in line I don't think. Guess I won't be getting no cash back from Ally. Rant over.

EDIT. To add to my confusion. I just received another " we are having problems with your order " email from Apple. Yet when I go to my order it shows processing and doesn't ask me to update or change payment method. Make me wonder what's going on.

One thing I noticed, while shipping has slipped, there’s still in store pickup for 9/20 on many of these. I did in store anyway so hopefully that helped those of you that can only ship. I used to do UPS and have it saved at a customer pickup location, but every year UPS changes it to work out the kinks and at this point, the Apple Store is more convenient, except for needing to set an appointment in advance.

Last year I did a pickup before the mall opened and there were a bunch of us trying to figure out how to get in the mall. So if you do after mall hours, check that out.

Got in-store pickup for 8:15AM for:
  • 256GB iPhone 16 Pro Max (Desert Titanium) on IUP
  • 256GB iPhone 16 Pro Max (Desert Titanium) on T-Mobile EIP / $800 off
  • 256GB iPhone 16 Pro Max (Black Titanium) on T-Mobile EIP / $800 off
  • 256GB iPhone 16 Pro (Black Titanium) on T-Mobile EIP / $800 off
With the decreased trade-in value on Go5G Plus, I can’t see T-Mobile offering decent trade-in values in the future, so everyone in possession of a 14 is moving to a 16.

Looks like all the 256GB and 1TB Pro Max are sold out locally for launch, but plenty of 512GB available. iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16 Pro are readily available in all colors and sizes.

Yes it’s legit. My confirmation email in the US says your_order_US for the sender email.

It looks legit.
Mine is an US Apple order:

Before your order ships, you can contact Apple on the phone and request a media swap and use your Ally card.

I had to do that one year when I ordered the Mac Studio Max + Studio Display and my Chase card was flagged as fraud alert for $4500 and ended up using my AMEX to get the order in.

Once the order went to preparing to ship, I called Apple and the rep was able to switch it back to the Chase card.

I’ve always hated that. 99% of the time most of the back and forth is on what color to buy. Being able to see the colors in stores would be so beneficial for buyers.
For the Pro line-up? Absolutely unnecessary until Apple offers Pro users color selections the standard line-up gets.

This is one of the weakest color line-ups for the Pro series yet. Natural, Gold, White, or Black. Pretty easy to make a decision on that without having to see them in person.

Sorry but it happens every year. The Fraud systems are automated and even when you pre-check with your Credit Card processor it often fails. The good news is that Apple just holds your order for a period of time to allow you to provide another payment option.

The real reason may be on the Apple side or Ally we will never know all the facts. Often the credit processing system is overwhelmed on the Apple side due to the volume other times it is your friendly automated Fraud scan by your CC company, Ally in your case.

Hmm many of us were able to order on AT&T 20 minutes before your 7:56 using the My AT&T app. AT&T is not immune to pre-order issues. They have also been late a few years and even lose or miss label orders at the distribution center. One year I got my phones and one for another customer in the same box from the Ft. Worth distribution center.

AT&T gets bulk shipments directly from Apple and then has to label and scan the box to add it to your account. They often put the Apple box in a larger box with the return materials for any trade-ins. Multiple manual steps. Stuff happens along the way.

I’m getting the id verification text after order is placed but the link didn’t work and no mention of it on my account order page. Did you get any of that?

Yah, the standard 16 and 16+ have a better color line up.
Would have loved a Pro in Ultramarine Blue...
