This is my first time doing it for an Apple release, I've certainly participated in vacation countdowns in the travel forums and video game expansion releases in the gaming forums, which get just as crazy because everybody is trying to log in at once.

I did a couple of those at the back of the Costco lines during the pandemic, no official meetups, just random strangers with a "we're all in this together" mindset. Too bad the camaraderie didn't last.
Yeah, I remember when I used to have AT&T and years ago before you could made appointments for pickup, you would just arrive super early before they open and wait in the extremely long line outside an AT&T Store. That goes way back.

Hahaha I saw some others jumped in with answers so you should be good to go.

The long and short of it is once you're in the right line you have an appointment linked to your Apple ID and they use the Pass in your Apple Wallet (or your order number from your email if you'd prefer) to verify you have said appointment. Then you get the phone and you're out of there ideally in under 15 mins!
No problem. I'm sure others would like to know too but were maybe afraid to ask or come off like a newbie, which I officially was up until a few hours ago. Apple preorder newbies unite! From what I'm seeing this is a great community, and I'm looking forward to the posts long after I receive my phone since I'm assuming others will still be receiving theirs through the holidays and into next year.

Is it me or are the ship times much better this year?

The one I got (black 16 pro 128gb) was available for delivery on release day most of today
Yeah, sounds like this 16 isn't in as much of a demand as past models. Last year when I preordered my 15 Pro Max and got the week later delivery date, a friend of mine ordered one that same evening and the delivery date was about a month and a half out. Theirs did eventually get bumped up sooner as some of the phones were shipping, but that initial ship date was much later ordering in the evening of pre-order day.

Yeah, at work, they couldn't believe that I'm in a forum with people talking about where our phones are in the ordering and shipping process and they especially can't believe I do this every year. 🤣🤣 I just say you don't know what fun you're missing. 🤣
As much as I am enthusiastic about Apple products, I don't think I would be sharing these dirty secrets with colleagues. 🥰

This my first time ordering via Apple. I have already signed up for My Choice and UPS leaves packages by front door. Would they do the same with this package? Or is there something I should be doing to ensure they do that?

Wife will be home but likely not able to run to the door when they attempt delivery.

Leaving the package at your front door is 100% up to the driver's discretion. No matter what you sign on paper or online. If the driver feels like it is not safe to leave in front door, he will leave you a note. The safest bet if you not home is to route your delivery to the nearest UPS store, you can pick it up the same day, usually. Good luck.

UPS mychoice seems to be down. Not able to log in

Maybe it was us Apple buyers…
I'm an Apple buyer and I was able to open the UPS MyChoice app on my phone, but it doesn't show any deliveries scheduled, so the labels haven't been created yet on the first shipment. Looks like last year the labels were created on the first shipment at 9:09 PM the next day after preorder day and then it went backwards with an Origin Scan in ZhengZhou, CN at 11:49 AM that same day, then Departed 9:50 PM and another Arrived at Facility same location at 10:30 PM, and then a final Departed from Facility same location scan three days later at 4:34 AM enroute to Incheon, KR, then Anchorage, AK, then Louisville, KY and then they separate, so it's always interesting to see how closely the timeframe is from year to year, but usually it's pretty close to being the same.

Thats good, I am in a private community and our driver leaves stuff at front door all of the time. Just was not sure if Apple wanted any waivers before hand.

UPS My Choice finally let me log in and my tracking number showed up. There’s a scan at Kunshan City in China and the estimated delivery date is September 20th.

This is definitely the phone as my case shipped via FedEx.
