For those choosing to go to the store to pick it up, why?
I recently had a friend order a phone to be delivered to my place. The item was shipped via UPS and when I received the package, the box was empty. The UPS guy literally handed me an empty box. Had to call up Apple and go through a bit of process before I could get the replacement.

Never again for such expensive purchases.

It's back up! Just my S10 Watch and Cases coming from Apple so far. It seems like it's been the pro versions that have gone prepared for shipping. I haven't seen anyone mention that their regular 16/+ have gone prepared yet. Perhaps the regular phones are already stateside.

Dont break the circle of trust man. We all anonymous here. LOL
I didn't mean I showed them the forum, I just talked about how I was going to pre-order the new iphone and there's a forum I talk on tracking the shipments of the phones, etc. and how much fun it is. :)

Dumb question. My current iPhone 14PM is on iOS 18 beta , Will the iPhone 16 PM be on iOS 18.1? And if so, will I be able to transfer data from my old iPhone to the new ? thanks.

UPS My Choice finally let me log in and my tracking number showed up. There’s a scan at Kunshan City in China and the estimated delivery date is September 20th.

This is definitely the phone as my case shipped via FedEx.
Did you order from Apple? I don't have a UPS tracking number yet and that's a new city I've never seen before. I restarted my phone and it still takes me right in the app already logged in, but still says no scheduled deliveries. :(

Yes, I pre-ordered from the Apple Store at around 8:07am eastern time.

Shipper is AI and delivery date is September 20th. It’s definitely the phone. Only other thing I ordered was the case for it and that shipped via FedEx a few hours ago.

I’m in Canada by the way but just wanted to post in this thread because my tracking went live.

For those choosing to go to the store to pick it up, why? Some reasons I can think of include:

  • You don't work from home and don't want to risk a package coming when you're not home to sign for it
  • You don't want it to or can't have it come to work for some reason
  • You want the comfort of having a specific time (at the store) when you can get your phone
  • You, for some reason, have to have it at the absolutely earliest possible second on Friday, and the store pickup accomplishes that
  • You don't want to risk getting a damaged phone at home and then having to deal with that headache
  • You don't want your wife/husband/girlfriend/mistress/dog or other cohabitant to know
  • You need the store's help in transferring to a new phone
  • You're trading in and need to go to the store to most easily accomplish that process, or simply don't want to put your current phone in the mail (FedEx, etc.), given some of the horror stories that are out there
  • You want to be part of the "launch day social experience" at an Apple Store
What else is there?

I'm just wondering what would incentivize people enough to endure the absolute zoo of being at an Apple Store on a launch day.

Full disclosure: mine are being delivered at home because there is no way I want to endure the zoo experience, plus I have no reason to avoid the extreme convenience of home delivery.
My guess is that you haven't been to a launch day event in an Apple store for quite some time.

For me, I'm able to get my phone at the earliest possible time, on my way to work, I'm usually in and out in under 30 mintues....and the store is not even remotely like a zoo. I then get to take the phone to the office and set it up in peace.

Now if I went to the 5th Ave store, it's a bit more crazy, but it's still VERY organized and you get in and out pretty quickly due to the reservation process, the organized fashion they move you through, and the sheer number of staff working that day.

If I were working from home (and I am fully remote so I can...but I actually prefer the office), I'd be waiting for the UPS guy who would probably arrive late afternoon, while I'm in suspense the entire time.

Just a note, as phones start to go preparing for shipping and people start seeing movement, it's REALLY helpful to also note the model info of your phone. They tend to go in bunches, so it's helpful to know what's moving.

Mychoice isn’t working for me trying to get it fixed. Is it still possible to look up the tracking via reference number like last year?
I just tried by putting in the Apple Order Number in the Shipment Reference box and also tried my phone number, but it brings up this message:

Currently, we are not able to provide the tracking details. We can’t locate shipments if we haven’t received information from the shipper yet, or if the package information is older than 120 days.

I ordered an iPhone 16 Pro Max….the UPS scan shows Kunshan City, CN. When I google it, I find a city in China. The shipment arrived at a UPS facility there at 10:29am on September 14 local time according to my tracking.

That’s what I get too. Maybe when I wake up it’ll work.

I went and tried too with the same result. I did it earlier today for my watch that had gone prepared for shipping and nothing showed up, but the tracking showed in MyChoice shortly after that with my order number as reference. So, I'm thinking it will just show up for you once the label has been printed and that tracking by reference isn't as useful as it used to be.

Does anyone know when the YouTube reviewers get their hands on videos out ? I thought it was today.
Apple gives review units and an embargo on releasing the video until a few days before the launch. Most get them about week before the rest of us to do a basic review. Then Wednesday or Thursday all the review videos drop before the rest of us get them on Friday.

Thanks, so Wednesday or Thursday the hands on YouTube videos will be available?
