Yes, I pre-ordered from the Apple Store at around 8:07am eastern time.

Shipper is AI and delivery date is September 20th. It’s definitely the phone. Only other thing I ordered was the case for it and that shipped via FedEx a few hours ago.

I’m in Canada by the way but just wanted to post in this thread because my tracking went live.
Hmm, I wonder if going to Canada makes a difference as far as it taking a different path. I never saw Kunshan City, CN on the tracking before. It's always been ZhengZhou, CN to Incheon, KR to Anchorage, AK, to Louisville, KY and then separates on planes or trucks to different hubs. I ordered mine from Apple at 7:03 CST with delivery 9/20. Anyone else have a Label Created scan with that city or a different one?

Correct.

Most launch day iPhones are shipped from China to US via UPS; but there are some already in country - those reserved for media influencers, employee use, Apple Store.

Yep, this was case for my iPhone 14 delivery order in 2022. My phone (non-carrier activate later) was with a batch that was already pre-staged at a regional hub in the US (Ontario, CA); the retail store ones are palletized separately from the delivery ones. Tracking wise, it looked like mine wasn't with the rest of the flights flying out of China. The first scan finally showed up the day of delivery, and it was UPS overnight express from that hub. Thus people shouldn't freak out if they don't see any originating scans out of China.

No idea but someone else in the Canadian pre-orders thread posted a screen of their tracking and it’s the exact same scan as mine.

Maybe that’s where they’re coming from this year, or that’s just the first scan we are seeing.

Yeah, at work, they couldn't believe that I'm in a forum with people talking about where our phones are in the ordering and shipping process and they especially can't believe I do this every year. 🤣🤣 I just say you don't know what fun you're missing. 🤣
There was actually an article in the…. I think Washington post…. about us several years back! Several of our posts were quoted! lol!

That is by design the UPS truck makes the drop off at the UPS Retail location and collects the outbound items. It is usually around 6 PM local time.
And our local UPS Stores close at 7pm. So curious if they actually could have the phones available for me before they left for the night... . With how late the trucks are, I wouldn't want to trust that I'd get the phone.

Curious if anyone has experience with that, if I could get the phone at 6:30pm at the store I'd probably have it before the brown truck rumbles down our street.

I mentioned it before, when I've had a Next Day UPS package the same day as the iPhone delivery, I've gotten the phone way earlier than when the phone was the only package.

When does Apple charge the card for ISPU? I have the email, the order information but no charge yet
There will be a charge hold on your credit card by early next week. That will disappear in a day or two. Your card will be fully charged for the iPhone after picking it up from the Apple Store

I went and tried too with the same result. I did it earlier today for my watch that had gone prepared for shipping and nothing showed up, but the tracking showed in MyChoice shortly after that with my order number as reference. So, I'm thinking it will just show up for you once the label has been printed and that tracking by reference isn't as useful as it used to be.
Yeah, in the past I've had much better luck just waiting to get the tracking number on UPS MyChoice. I remember a couple different nights going to bed and by the time I woke up there was another scan. :)

I shipped mine to work, so MyChoice is not an option for me this year because it’s a business address. Gotta hope that my order number works as a reference number and pulls something up. Fingers crossed.
I'll keep trying that also. Definitely fingers crossed. :)

For those choosing to go to the store to pick it up, why? Some reasons I can think of include:

  • You don't work from home and don't want to risk a package coming when you're not home to sign for it
  • You don't want it to or can't have it come to work for some reason
  • You want the comfort of having a specific time (at the store) when you can get your phone
  • You, for some reason, have to have it at the absolutely earliest possible second on Friday, and the store pickup accomplishes that
  • You don't want to risk getting a damaged phone at home and then having to deal with that headache
  • You don't want your wife/husband/girlfriend/mistress/dog or other cohabitant to know
  • You need the store's help in transferring to a new phone
  • You're trading in and need to go to the store to most easily accomplish that process, or simply don't want to put your current phone in the mail (FedEx, etc.), given some of the horror stories that are out there
  • You want to be part of the "launch day social experience" at an Apple Store
What else is there?

I'm just wondering what would incentivize people enough to endure the absolute zoo of being at an Apple Store on a launch day.

Full disclosure: mine are being delivered at home because there is no way I want to endure the zoo experience, plus I have no reason to avoid the extreme convenience of home delivery.
I'm doing ISPU this year because it's also my local Mall's Grand opening for that same day. I have an 8:15 p/u time, so I should be one of the first in the store.

I've been to two Apple Store grand openings, camping out overnight or getting there at 3-4am and getting in line. It's like this forum but IRL if you can imagine. To your "social experience" bullet there. Lots of energy, Apple Store employees cheering and welcoming you in...they also hand out special t-shirts to commemorate the opening. This is the first time I can have my daughter join in on the experience, too. It's not a zoo at all.

My store is in a suburb of Los Angeles, so I'm hoping to see some Apple influencers maybe. Tim Cook has opened the Grove store along with the cast of Ted Lasso. Santa Monica has had some of the Apple Fitness instructors there (their studio is in the same city). I think iJustine live in Santa Monica / Venice Beach type area.

Sheesh, iPhone 16 Pro Max is already sold out around me, delivery date is in October.
They will have at least some stock in stores for walk ins. Wouldn't want to count on getting exactly what I want on Launch Day, but it is possible.

Where is your watch coming from and what is the weight? I have something showing up but don’t know what it is.

Dumb question. My current iPhone 14PM is on iOS 18 beta , Will the iPhone 16 PM be on iOS 18.1? And if so, will I be able to transfer data from my old iPhone to the new ? thanks.
Apple has beta versions for 18.0 (at this point known as the RC, but there will be final version by next Friday) and 18.1 for the new iPhone 16 models. Set up the new iPhone as new, install appropriate beta to match old phone, and then restore from backup of the old phone on the same version of the beta. It sounds complicated but is not that hard to do, especially as there will be the final 18.0 that will need to be installed anyway.

It is also possible that the new phone will recognize that it needs to update no matter what the old phone is running, and will know what OS to install.

I'm sure there will be youtube videos and MacRumors articles about the process before you need to do it.

edit: good point about the 18.1 being Developer only at this point, but who knows what this week holds for Public Release and Public betas.
