I’m going to try out a Beats case to start. If that doesn’t work out, I might go with the Otterbox Symmetry case (cactus leather).
You might want to check out the case thread.... people who've already gotten the Beats say it's really cheap and plasticky looking!

FedEx Ground was used on launch day - got tracking the night before.

Originated from AI Ontario, CA (Apple warehouse) - they pulled from Apple Store stock.

I live less than 5 miles from Ontario, CA so ground meant next day.

Just like my Apple Magsafe case that I ordered yesterday is arriving today from Ontario, CA.
My cases (and my pencil tips a while back) came from Rialto.

Unrelated question, am I the only one a little concerned that when holding my phone, my finger is going to be activating that new camera button?
Well I wasn't until you brought it up! lol! Now I'm going to post this then get my cases out of their packaging and hold them!

I'm in LA, Cali and I have a tracking number in my UPS My Choice! I forgot how exciting this is to watch for the week leading up to delivery.

If there's one thing that Apple has nailed down tight, it's shipping. Barring some unpredictable catastrophe in the delivery chain, if Apple says you'll get your phone on the 20th, you'll get your phone on the 20th.
Or the weather! A few years back there was a typhoon that almost delayed the phones!

This is all just speculation, but I’m guessing they ship the phones first with orders that are further away from UPS hubs, then ship orders that are closer next. I say this because I live right outside NYC and I always get tracking numbers much later than anyone else, lol.

Speculation, yes. But very intriguing speculation. I’d like to see that algorithm.

I think this does seem to play a part. However, they also seem to send in batches of like models/colors/storage. I wish more people would put their models/color/storage in their posts about progress here :)

My 16/Ultramarine/128 just went to prepared for shipping but nothing in MyChoice yet. My 16/Teal/128 is still processing. Interestingly, I only have one pending charge on my Apple Card, too.

You may have a point there. I live in Florida, East Coast and I always get my tracking number later than many others and always wondered why even though I ordered two minutes after the opening bell. 😜 I live in West mid Florida near the Clearwater area and it’s preparing to ship and no shipping label or tracking number.

I seem to always get my tracking info later, but I’m in St. Louis. We’re 3.5 hours or less by road from Louisville, KY and an hour by plane.

As long as a package gets to Worldport, or some of the smaller regional hubs, it doesn't matter where you are in the United States.

If you ever get the chance to visit UPS Worldport in or FedEx World HUb for a "sort", do it. They are both amazing.

I don’t think they’ve ever used FedEx for iPhones

For my iPhones at or within a couple months of launch while they’re coming directly from overseas they’ve always come UPS for me. However, when I’ve ordered one mid cycle after there’s sufficient stock in the U.S., I’ve had them come FedEx twice if I recall correctly. Could be mistaken, I have a spotty memory.

********. Not last year but previous year, I had launch day delivery. It was changed to a week later. Launch day does not mean you have it and it can possibly change.

Did you miss the many posts about creating a free UPS My Choice account and to make it even faster download the UPS app. This will give you all the Deliveries for your address and the detailed tracking info.

Dave
Actually i have a My Choice account, and when i enter my reference code with deleting last two digits, nothing appears. Maybe i miss something? Where can i track the shipment with reference number in the app?
