Best way is to pay in full.

Get a credit card that has 0% for x number of months and then pay it off before the promotion ends.

I have a pre-approved mailer from Bank of America with 18 month 0%.

DO NOT choose the trade-in option when ordering. Instead, tell the employee when you go to pick up that you'd like to trade in your phone. They'll inspect it and apply the credit then and there.

If you choose the trade-in option at checkout, they'll ship you a box to send it to a partner. You might get a less trade in credit with this method, to say nothing of the lead times or other shipping horror stories.

I may end up signing up for a T-Mobile post-paid plan for a month, eating the ~$55 (saving way more than than over 2 months on Mint @ $15/mo), then cancelling the plan, since it appears if you want to do Apple's iUP the only stipulation is you're on a major carrier plan currently. Talked to their CS this morning and they said you can cancel any time, no contract required.

I've kinda tested this already - we were on AT&T when I bought a 15 Pro through iUP last Sept, and we switched to Mint around March of this year. No issues since.

Will report back Friday.
 
Anyone got the black last year? I skipped last year's, and I'm tempted to get the Natural Titanium now, but the Black also looks soooo good. Very difficult decision 😆

You can't get carrier credits from the big three when you choose "no trade-in". So, unless you go with Boost or forfeit hundreds of dollars, it doesn't appear to be an option.

Another thing to consider - thanks! I'm on Fi, so those options aren't available to me anyways.

They will either send the box with the new phone, or separately. No need to pay for a label or anything like that.

16PM 256-ready to be ordered Friday morning. 2am Hawaii time. :oops: Then hopefully pick up at the Ala Moana store since I am in town for a conference that day.
 
Skipped last years upgrade to 15PM . Finished my pre pre order just now, 16PM desert sand 512GB. I do like the desert color but torn with white also since it’s been a long time since I’ve owned white. Might change my mind last minute.
I just hope my credit card issuer doesn’t decline my purchase on friday and put me in the back of the queue for a October or November delivery date 🥲
 
If I preorder but can’t make the Friday appointment time Apple gives me, I can go in Saturday or Sunday and pick up right? They don’t cancel pre-order launch day orders that aren’t picked up day-of?
 
I'm SOOO underwhelmed this year, but my personal phone is a 15 pro Max (came from 12 Pro max last year). I WILL be buying a 16 for my son as his first phone. So I guess I'll be in the pre-order fun that way. Just completed my pre-pre-order

If you order for in-store pick up they give you a Friday time without the chance to alter. If I skip that and go to the store Saturday or Sunday my order will be available for pick up still, right?

I know on normal orders you have 7 days but am not sure if anything is different for launch day orders.
