Sorry to say so, but if you are so dependant on a mobile phone, then comes my question:
Why on earth do you dare to do a rather unnecessary update to your phone without knowing, if there are any serious issues?
If you need your phone for...errr...sending and receiving calls, well you didn't need v2.0 on launch day, did you?
Just ask any professional here on the boards, that use their Apple Products for WORK. The major part of them waits at least a couple of days for the dust to settle, before they jump on any point upgrade (and yes, I'm referring to stuff like going from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3). We all know, that updates can break stuff.
Because it did not occur to me for a second that it would brick my phone half way through the process. I dropped my phone in the dock when i got to the office like I do every morning and hit "OK" when it asked if I wanted to update. Never had this happen before. I just don't see why SO MANY people are excusing Apple for this. Yes, I could have waited, I could have combed the internet for news before I updated - but the whole reason I love Apple products so much is their ease of use and scalability. I don't WANT to have to comb internet boards for an hour before I update software on a cell phone. And Apple has developed that in me as a customer - it's why I'm happy to give them thousands of my hard earned dollars over and over again. It seems like the apologists here just want to feel smart for having foreseen the problem (better than, oh I don't know, APPLE).
They screwed this up. It's not the end of the world, but they screwed it up. No one's asking for their head on a plate. Just a simple "We'll learn from this - sorry, we will do everything we can to prevent it from happening again."
