Yah I can definitely see the yellow-ish tint. That really sucks...... anyway.... You can really tell the difference in how sharp the displays are in the pic... wow.... the 3GS actually looks blurry compared to the 4.

Xanadeath

Yeah, when I was zooming in on the pictures even more it was so amazing how clear the iPhone 4 display is. I am thinking the yellowish tint might not bother me once I am not looking at my 3GS anymore but if not I will be going to Apple in a few weeks. My wife likes the yellowish tint actually so maybe I will just give it to her and get a new one later.

Mine's worse.

I'll try getting pics up later.

It is about 5x worse in person I just cant get the color captured well without the flash on my camera blocking out the screen. If I try in too much light it just makes a glare as well.

Count me in as having the jaundiced band at the bottom of my screen. I guess I will test this phone out for a week or so and go get a new one.

Oh FFS! I have specifically avoided looking at these forums for this very reason, now I'm paranoid about two things 1. Getting one. 2. The one I get having bloody nicotine staining inside the screen.

I had the same stress about the first 1Phone and the negative issues...... ARGH!

Will you people stop noticing things please!

:)

Don't forget about the supposed reception issue too, AT&T OTA b.s. and Apple stealing FaceTime info. :D

Boy Genius Report has the same problem

No screen probs here. 32gb. Great looking screen. (I'm sorry for those of you who have the problems though)

My launch 3GS had a yellow tint when I first got it.. after awhile it went away. I noticed the yellow tint had went away at the same time I noticed the coating wasn't that great anymore for wiping fingerprints off the screen with one swipe of a cloth.

Last week I got that 3GS replaced at an Apple store for a new/refurbed one. I now notice this yellow tint again, and the coating is back to allowing one swipe to clear all fingerprints.

Not sure if this is the same issue you are having.

I don't think it's the oleophobic coating on the screen (correct me if I'm wrong).

I think the screen itself produces a yellow hue.

Just got mine, and I do have a yellow spot bottom right corner.
It's not horrible, but it's noticeable on white screens

I think the yellow banding is an inherit flaw of IPS LCD screens.
Ah.... no, it's not.

I've had IPS displays for years on T series ThinkPads without problems. Our company deploys hundreds of them, and it's never appeared. This seems unique to iPhones.

If they did that, iPhone would cost more. It's already extortionately priced.
There is already plenty of profit in each phone for Apple to do it's job properly. One does not buy a new MBZ or BMW expect the same quality control issues of a Chevy. Steve Jobs is a fat cat. Let's be real about it.

As stated, this is the 4th iPhone. There are still problems with screens, reception, etc... It makes sense to me that they haven't fixed a lot of things because so many people still buy their products and deny that there are problems.
You are 100% correct. Apple takes advantage of their unusually rabid fans.

Just got the iPhone 4 and have the same yellow tinge streak along the left and right edge of the screen. You can clearly see it.

Definitely stands out on a white or light colour background. Bring up a blank web page or go into Mail. The browser frame is light grey so the yellow streak shows across it as well. Bummer....

More observations. The yellow streak goes all the way around the screen. Turn the phone to landscape and portrait and you can see it.

Suddenly, i don't feel like getting an iPhone 4 too soon.

Same here.

Stay away from the iPhone 4, it's all Apple hype as usual.

I will be the first to admit I got sucked into the vortex at WWDC. Big mistake, one I won't be repeating again.

Mines yellow in both the lower right and upper left. In addition, this display is not as bright as it was purported to be.

It looked great in the pictures, but the ergonomics are terrible. In hand it's uncomfortable and disappointing. Oh sure it has this feature, and that feature, but at the end of the day it's just not worth it.

Blah...

This is the last iPhone I will ever buy.

I can't tell if your being serious right now.... lol

Noticed this also. My 3G on the right
Picture doesn't do it justice, much more noticeable when side-by-side

no yellow at all on mine. No spots either.

just a quick question though? how often do you have your phone on 100% brightness?

I can already tell by those pics.

Sigh... not the yellow screen issue all over again.

Think apple would let us exchange it for this reason?

I remember having a first generation iPhone a couple years ago that did this ... it grew in a certain spot, it was most definitely heat related. I ended up getting it replaced.

Its likely heat discoloring the glue between the backlight and the LCD, as it will only show up under certain constrast levels.

I agree...Great looking screen, and I, too, am sorry for everybody who has the problem. I checked it out with the Flashlight app, turned up the brightness all the way to the top, and no yellow splotches, banding, or dots.

I give my deepest condolences to all of those with defective screens, but I have ZERO yellow spots/lines on mine. So there's hope!
