I have a 16GB from AT&T Delivered by FedEX. I powered off the phone for a hour and it was still there... not as bad (or im just getting used to it)

i dont get how people are not more pissed at apple over this launch. It has been botched from the start, they dont tell anyone a word about white phones until the day before launch, now the phones are defective, screens with yellow, reception on it sucks. If this was the evo or any other phone people would tear it apart. This is a phone on its 4th iteration, and apple still cant get it right. That and at&t are going to keep me away from this iphone. I guess we can all hope for september.

Is this one of those cases where no one would notice it but now that someone has everyone will? lol
Exactly what happened to me with my first PSP back in 2005 with the dead pixel incident. Had people never mentioned it, I probably would have never noticed. Was going to replace it too, but heard they would send me a refurbished one and decided not to.

If these yellow markings are evident only in the Settings app which I hardly look at anyway, I probably don't care too much about it. Some can act anal and OCD about it to have any tiny little flaw drive them nuts. This phone isn't forever with us that we can take to the after-life.

Unfortunately, it's pretty noticeable (at least on mine) in any app or function where the background near the bottom 1/8th of the screen is white or light colored. I noticed it before seeing any indication that other folks had the issue, so it's not something that I only noticed because someone pointed it out.

Yellow screens exist on the iphone4 as well

Yup, my phone's got it.

Was comparing my 3G to my new iphone4 and the iphone4's screen is yellow, you can easily tell.

Sigh...i don't recall what the policy on yellow screens are. Does Apple accept them for exchanges or is this within their guidelines.

I agree. Apple never fixed the yellow screens on their iMacs. Over the past 4 months, I have visited 11 Apple stores and every iMac on display had the yellow screens. The response I got from employees was not even a denial but ways to minimize it.

As stated, this is the 4th iPhone. There are still problems with screens, reception, etc... It makes sense to me that they haven't fixed a lot of things because so many people still buy their products and deny that there are problems.

The problem is the expectation of quality... If everybody just bends over and takes it like you do, Apple wont learn from their mistakes. If it ends up costing them a fair chunk of change to replace, they might be a little more careful in the future. Thus maintaining an evolution of quality products.

Just look at the RROD fiasco with Microsoft and the 360. I'm sure heat management takes a pretty big chunk of the dev. time for the 360's successor. Leading to a higher quality product in the future.

OK...received the i4 at 11:55 AM PDT...Was on a conference call until 1:30 PM.

I activated. Took less than a minute.

The i4 finished its sync, so I checked out my Flashlight app.

I turned the brightness all the way up, and don't see any yellow splotches, dots or lines. I then compared it to the screen of my 3G and it is just as white.

Could it be that those who are seeing it (admittedly I haven't been able to look through the entire thread) haven't left theirs on? Could it be something that essentiall needs to burn off...like somebody posted earlier about his Palm pre which had the same problem.

Good luck to all.:)

And to re-iterate, this isn't the yellow spots that people are having.

This is like the old iphone 3g/3gs issues where the screen is noticeably yellow tinged compared to the bluish screens.

Oh FFS! I have specifically avoided looking at these forums for this very reason, now I'm paranoid about two things 1. Getting one. 2. The one I get having bloody nicotine staining inside the screen.

I had the same stress about the first 1Phone and the negative issues...... ARGH!

Will you people stop noticing things please!

:)

In the UK - distance selling regulations say you got 14 days to check and return if not satisfied for a FULL REFUND.

I don't know what the policy is in the US but you might be able to get a refund.

Mine is the same way. When I get home I am going to take a picture of my 3GS next to my 4.

Since you are in the UK the iPhone 4's will be a different UNLOCKED batch.

You might be lucky in that because of the extra cost they might put the GOOD screens in and flog off the Nicotine screen to USA who pay a minuscule amount in comparison.

Happy now?

iPhone 4 has a bad case of yellow fever.

Some of the lunatics on here are eventually going to sell it anyway next year or so. If the problem can't really be noticed, I say live with it. But if it is like the one with the line across it, then I have the right to get it replaced.

I lived with dead pixels on a PSP for five years, and I still love it. Still has been good to me. Kind of like getting married. You start seeing the flaws of your spouse, but you deal with them anyway because you love them even with the flaws.

Mine doesn't have yellow blobs, but rather a yellow band going all the way across the bottom of the screen about 1/4 inch up. It's not really that noticeable but it's definitely there.

Im getting mine on contract, probably sold all the crappy ones to Tesco Mobile :)

Yeah, that is what mine has. :( I jumped on a Genius appt. for Friday. before they were all gone. Sounds like this could be a widespread issue affecting 10% or more.

Mine does not. It is a miracle since I had terrible luck with 3G build quality. I ended up exchanging twice and the third one was not great in the end either.

I was hoping Apple would improve the initial builds on the 4. My 3G has the power button that unevenly and barely sits above the case along with a similar silent mode switch.

I found the best way to test was to go to a drawing program where you can have the screen entirely white.

Couldn't get a good picture of it but the 3GS is on the left and the 4 is on the right...both are on full brightness as you can see but you can also see the yellowish tint on the iPhone 4. It is a lot more evident in person though.

Yeah, mine has a faint yellow band. But it's not that noticeable and I'm sure I will get used to it. I'll just end up getting a new iPhone next year anyways.

Yah I can definitely see the yellow-ish tint. That really sucks...... anyway.... You can really tell the difference in how sharp the displays are in the pic... wow.... the 3GS actually looks blurry compared to the 4.
