Interesting. Here's the translated page: https://n-news-naver-com.translate....l=ko&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-GB&_x_tr_pto=nui

In summary, they lifted the front of the plane to do maintenance on the front landing gear. In doing so, the tail hit the ground and hydraulic fluid was leaked. They say the plane was empty of cargo at the time but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the plane that was supposed to carry a bunch of stuff, including a load of MacBooks, to Europe.
It looks to me as if the weight of all those 32 and 64GB RAM machines was the straw that broke the camel's back and tipped this jumbo onto its tail.

I do think that might be the plane.

The picture in that article shows 572 above the front landing gear.

Flight 5X10 was supposed to go to Shanghai but was the one that turned around and landed.

Yeah, Seoul to Shanghai then onward to Cologne.

Amazing what sleuthery this forum can do when there's laptops on the line.

I wouldn't worry about this. DHL shipment tracking from China is virtually non-existent and often will only update when it arrives in Europe (Netherlands or Germany). Once there it's normally an overnight journey to reach you. I suspect that you'll get it on Friday or Monday. Good luck.
This is good to know, because I’ve been freaking out about the total lack of updates since Monday morning (UK time)

I'm not holding my breath for a Friday delivery now, no way can they get them from Shanghai to Germany to the UK and out for delivery by Friday morning.
Probably not, and I wouldn't want to give you false hope, but I've seen flights leave Germany as late as 1am containing things that were delivered to my front door later the same day.

Yeah that happened with my last MacBook Pro, left Germany 3am and was at my door by midday. So if we dont see any movements tonight I think we can say good bye Friday delivery.

Only if the flight from Shanghai leaves in the 6 hours or so it usually would. If it does, gets to Seoul and then onwards to Germany for 7pm. If definitely seen it arrive to me in the uk the following morning.

We’ll know more by about 1/2am!

You can see how far they can travel in one day from a previous order I had with apple from UPS!

Just prioritisation of cargo I assume. Apple knocked out the macs from the factory quickly then planned but they would have booked cargo slots many weeks/months in advance. Probably just held ours until the booked cargo flights were available

Your history with previous Apple orders is second to none. It’s clear you have been doing this for a very long time, I’m impressed mate!

I just noticed UPS have a plane heading from Seoul to Cologne today - UPS11A - it will be landing there in about 35 mins… I wonder if that has our precious cargo on it?

its not a scheduled flight so perhaps its the replacement for the one that was supposed to leave Seoul today before it got tipped on its backside…

so although mine has said there is a delay, UPS are still maintaining my Friday AM delivery according to their tracking.

We'll find out soon but we would of been updated saying they have departed from Seoul and at least I haven't had an update

Keeping my fingers crossed for you all that that they made it onto that flight but for some reason UPS have decided on this occasion to adopt the DHL approach where they keep the customer in the dark until the last moment so as to create an overwhelming sense of relief and gratitude.

My machine was ordered from the campus computer shop... delivery looked like it was going to be late November, so I had them switch to CDW, their page claims delivery by Friday (10/29)... here's hoping that stays true. I know of someone else, 14" 32GB RAM config... CDW... sometime in December!

Can anyone with the base model of the 14 comment on general performance?

I’ve been watching lots of YouTube review but they all comment on geekbench and video export times. I’m more interested in learning about how fast the machine is for general day to day use.

I haven't seen any videos comparing the speakers on the new and old 16" yet, is there any?

Ive seen them compare the 13" and 14".

They say 80% more bass but is that from the old 13 or the old 16"
