Inching slowly here....

Were the last few launches this out of whack in terms of delivery dates? I can see orders made after mine shipping and I’m concerned that there’s something not quite right about my order. Wonder if it’s the trade-in or the educational discount.

I haven't seen any videos comparing the speakers on the new and old 16" yet, is there any?

Ive seen them compare the 13" and 14".

They say 80% more bass but is that from the old 13 or the old 16"
I have the old 16” and the new. I’m actually underwhelmed at the new one. I’d say at best it’s on par, at worst the old is actually a bit clearer and louder.
Here’s some depressing math for you.

Planning to keep this mac for four years or more. I am paying ~3 quids per day. Given that I should have received it on day 1. This Monday delay is costing me around 21 pounds.

Multiply this by all the money I could make by using the machine. The value starts to become significant.

Tell this to the people who say: “huh it’s just a few days delay calm down”

I mean, surely if your business is that reliant upon machinery you should either have kept your old machine or have some sort of continuity plan in the event of hardware failure.

Interesting you say that as I feel slightly the same against my older version. The new 16 is definitely louder with more bass but I feel it’s not as clear and a little muffled vs the previous versions. Could be the extra bass right.

Only if the flight from Shanghai leaves in the 6 hours or so it usually would. If it does, gets to Seoul and then onwards to Germany for 7pm. If definitely seen it arrive to me in the uk the following morning.

We’ll know more by about 1/2am!

You can see how far they can travel in one day from a previous order I had with apple from UPS!

So, it's left Incheon overnight, might there still be hope for Friday?

It could be I guess, also maybe I’m just used to it.

The old 16” I was like, wow!!

My reaction to this one was, meh, it’s ok.

I think if you’ve had anything other than the old 16” you’ll be absolutely blown away

I’m hoping so! Still showing Monday for me but have seen these usually move from Germany to the UK overnight. Hopefully that still happens

On the same boat here. Package might be in the UK by Friday but might take too long to be sorted and delivered.

My nearest UK sorting facility is pretty far up north/east London and I am based in west London.

I can see that sorting/travel taking too long to make it by Friday evening. Also I am pretty sure the parcel has to be sorted again in a smaller branch before is sent to the final destination.

Why would you set that you plan to keep it for 4 years from the date of ordering? The sensible thing would be 4 years from date of delivery, if you’re going to set timelines.

Also you wouldn’t multiply that £21 by whatever money you supposedly could be making right now, which you apparently can’t without this new device. You’d add that, not multiply.

The times I’ve had stuff from apple via china, if it makes it to cologne, it’s then moved straight to the UK and to my door the next day. Things might be different now with brexit and customs etc.

That’s great news! Expected to land in Cologne in just under eight and a half hours so that would be around 18:35 CET.

With a fair wind, good luck and little or no customs delay, you and several others may have big smiles on your faces tomorrow!

My body is ready. I hope to feel like this tomorrow.

I love your optimism but I think the chances are slim.

It’s cutting it fine I agree but it is feasible (and has been done before). The problem is that the weekend is looming and those 2 days are ideal for the bonding process with the new baby… err… laptop. It would be a shame, but not the end of the world, to have to wait until Monday.

I’m hoping once they land and sorted our delivery slot will update.

Worst case is that it sits in cologne until Sunday and moves across for Monday

Exactly. They’re coming!

That’s not possible. According to UPS packages sorted at Cologne during the night are immediately dispatched to their destination countries through connecting flights. The sorting ends at 3am Cologne Time. There is absolutely no reason for the pallets to sit on Cologne’s tarmac until Sunday.

The only reason why it wouldn’t arrive in the UK by Friday morning, is if instead of flying it boards a lorry travelling through the EuroTunnel Channel. That would add substantial time to the delivery.

My guess is that despite the Macs are landing in the UK on Friday morning, the additional sorting time in the home country would add too much delay to actually deliver EOD.

Historically though, UPS seems to be able to ship from local airport to final destination in under 6h. This is what I’ve gathered looking at tracking screenshots of other users who ordered with Apple+UPS in the past.

We can only wait and see what happens today between 11pm uk time and 3am Cologne time, when the sorting ends and we get updated estimates.

Yesterday delivery estimates were updated at 11pm UK time. Which is exactly when the UPS plane usually lands in Cologne and the sorting starts.

So curious as to where the DHL lot are at the moment - still no tracking updates since 17:31 on Monday. They don't share cargo space on UPS' planes do they?

Anyone know how DHL move their stuff?

Boat? Train? Pony express? Carrier pigeon?

72hrs since it was picked up in China and no update. Think my hopes of a Friday delivery have gone up in smoke.
