Which Model are you getting?

Agree with everything you've said. The build quality is probably my favourite thing after the performance. It just feels far sturdier and ready to do work than the previous generation.

One setting I've changed related to the notch which I really recommend if you ever use apps in fullscreen is the attached screenshot. Basically I love how the menu bar at the top is pure black so the notch is hidden, but by default, the menu bar disappears unless you mouse over it. Unchecking this settings keeps it shown all the time. Looks great imo.

Nice, will check it out

I couldn't disagree with any of that. It is a stunning piece of kit especially if you are transitioning directly from Intel. The screen, processing speed and build quality are superb.

Having reflected on my purchase (I got the base / entry model last Tuesday) and having seen those brilliant photos of the silver that you posted yesterday I've decided to go for the 10/16/16/1TB in silver myself, especially as there is one that I can pick up tomorrow! The extra cores, double the storage, and the fast charging are worth the extra expense for me and strike the right balance. I've had Space Grey since 2015 so it's time now to return to the original MacBook Pro colour.

Good shout whilst you’re still inside the 14 days. The 1TB was a must for me. If there was even a base with 1 TB they would have probably been ok too. Would have wanted the additional fast charging too though.

The silver is beautiful. I’m on the prowl for a decent sleeve now

The 10/16/16/1tb does seem to be the sweet spot people are settling on.

My 10/16/32/512 arrives tomorrow and I’m thinking a straight return, save £100 and double my storage might be the best option.

Just a shame Costco only have the base 14 and 16 in the store near me. With the saving jumping from £100 to £270 it would be a no brainer.

Costco online sell it but you may have to wait 10 days for delivery. There is a saving of £170 though.

Looks like Monday/Tuesday this week should see quite a lot of people receiving their orders, like launch day mk2.
I'll be refreshing the DHL page from about 7am tomorrow.
Decent haul as I've got a Samsung ext SSD coming too so I can archive some ***** from my old machine that I don't want to transfer.

Performance is a bit of a jump from my old machines (2 entries for each laptop as I tested both on battery and connected to/powered by my monitor).

It is an even bigger jump for compute (GPU) - my iMac could not even run the test!

Currently moving my photos over, then looking forward to trying out Lightroom later.
Same here, I went from nTB 2017 MBP to base 14" MBP. It's like night and day. Screen, keyboard, speakers - everything is on another level. I'm so impressed.

Do UPS provide any useful info like estimated time slot?
I think DHL do but iirc I’m quite a long way down the route 😞

At the moment it only displays a 2h time window but I doubt is accurate.

They might provide better tracking for higher tier shipments, but not this one.

With UPS I have never had a time slot but normally get deliveries by around lunchtime.

With DHL I have sometimes been given a one hour time slot (by text on the morning). On two occasions the delivery has been made well before the time slot.

So after spending a few days using my 16" M1Pro I can say I'm pretty impressed.

After living with fan noise for the last few years to now when the fans don't even turn on for most of the time is worth the £3000 lol. Plus I shouldn't have to clean dust from the inside.

Everything like the mini led screen, speakers, battery life and the power, I can't see what apple can improve on the next version.

I saw the video from Max tech and wasn't really surprised how different the 14" and 16" is.... Same speaker system my arse.

I haven't watched that particular video but the 14" and 16" can't possibly have the same speaker system. Even if they had the same speaker hardware, which I doubt, the speaker grilles on the 16" are twice the width and that's got to make a difference in a metal chassis.

In any case, the 14" sounds great - not that I ever use the speakers anyway. For any kind of content creation or consumption, I use headphones.

Think I may head out to grab a 10/16/16/1TB from somewhere. I ordered (stupidly) a 10/16/16/512 without realising the 1TB was only £100 more anyway and not a BTO. I don’t need the storage, but at this rate it may be a quicker route to ownership.
