Also in the UK, ordered the 2.0 mb on the 15th of October.
Shipping time 7 buisness days.
Estimated delivery: 3rd-4th November  ...
My current laptop has been hanging from a thin string for the past 2 months - it's literally self destructing, and I've been waiting for the new macbooks to come out for so long..It sucks to have to wait 3 more weeks :/

Better than mine. I'm being quoted 31st Oct to 3rd November for delivery.

Gonna be a long few weeks unless I can get one in store in the meantime. :-(

Why, you lucky chaps, both of you! I ordered mine around 19:00 on the 16th (Thursday) and I'm being quoted 5th to 6th November for delivery! I have to wait three weeks for my new MacBook. :(

I called into the Cambridge Apple Store today to check out the new Macbooks and Macbook Pro's, walked out with the 2.0 Alu Macbook, I love it!!

Having owned 2 Powerbooks, a Macbook Pro, a Macbook and now this Alu Macbook this is my favourite so far :)

Ahh I'm about to order mine now, I was hoping it would be 7 business days so would be here in October :(

Anyway to locate the nearest store near to you?

anyone had any luck in this area yet?

i ordered mine on the 15th, and it still says ships in 8 days est delivery 4-5th November (17 days)!!!!!

It's been saying "ships in 8 days" since i placed the order :(

Well I gave up in the end. Went to the Bullring Apple Store on Saturday morning and picked up my Macbook.

Glad to say it would have been worth the wait though for those of you that are waiting. :)

Fair point. I get the Educational discount as HE Staff and had the iPod and printer rebate deals pushed on me too... so I took them!

iPod's already sold on eBay and printer hopefully will go soon so it's all helped to bring the cost down. :)

How much did you sell the iPod for and what model was it?

I currently have my 8GB red nano on eBay for £99.99 Buy it Now with free post.

Rebate seems a simple process. Mine's all ready to send off later today. My nano sold for 95 quid, the printer hasn't sold yet but I'm banking on 30 quid at least so that's an extra 110 quid or more off the price.

Seemed bizarre to be walking out of the store with so much stuff! I had to resist opening it all up to play with it! :)

No! :-( I had that last year. Ordered a stock Macbook and a remote. Just because they have to open the box to sling another part in there, it delayed it by another week! :-( Seems mad.

I got the 8GB black nano and listed it on eBay Saturday afternoon for £95 or best offer with £4.95 postage. Had loads of offers but it sold for the full £95 in about 2 hours!

Can't imagine you'll struggle to get rid of yours. :)

oh well.. i missed out..
the thing is.. i know how i am.. i'd end up keeping the nano!!! but it was only £14 extra..
oh well.. doesn't matter.. i just want my macbook now..

i decided to sell my blackbook.. and now am sans lappy... :( its painful!

I know... I wouldn't normally bother and yeah, I almost kept the nano. Glad it sold quick or I'd have been using it by now!

I sold my blackbook to get one too. Can't say I regret it one bit. Feels like SUCH a nice piece of equipment. I'll miss the firewire come holiday video time but I'll look for a replacement camera around that time that I can use with USB.

Hi there, just wondering whether you had to cut out pieces of the macbook/nano/printer boxes?

that's reassuring anyway :) so it will definitely be worth the wait :)

i only used FW about 3/4 times in my 2 years of owning it.. so its not a big deal.. i have FW on my imac anyway..

have you hooked it up to an lcd tv or anything using the mini displayport to dvi connector? would be using mine that way a fair bit too...

Yeah, you have to take off the barcode panel to mail in. The Macbook and printer have labels that you can just about peel off without a problem... the printer has two labels with similar info and the macbooks label is on the bottom of the box so you don't have to deface anything really.

The nano's barcode needs to be cut off the cardboard inlay though. You can do it without butchering it though. I listed mine on ebay with this noted and it still went for £95.

I rarely use FW either. It just comes in useful once or twice a year for the video camera. Need to look at replacing that at some point.

Not purchased the Display Port adaptor but considering it as it will be useful. :)

I made a call with the online store in Holland this morning enquiring about the delivery time. that 7 day thing (8 days in my case) is the shipping date from Asia. That explains the arrival date being somewhere in November.

It sucks but I'm getting the free Nano with it, which basically is a discount of 100 euros (plus the normal student discount), 'so i'll have to wait.

Didn't expect it to take this long, though.

Well hopefully my status will change to 'in transit' or 'shipping' tomorrow as that will be 7 days from when i ordered.

I'm still hopeful it will be a bit quicker than the October 31st - November 3rd i have been quoted!

I really dont understand why the US have theirs so much faster than us in Europe? Why do they get priority on the first shipment? :(

The entire bottom case has to be carved from aluminium and the shape of the keyboard holes is different for many countries. I don't think it's unreasonable for Apple to cater for their home (and largest) market first.

It's 7 business days so if you ordered on the night of the keynote like I did, it won't be despatched until Thursday/Friday!

Surely the English (British) and English (America) are identical apart from £/$ and where the @ symbol is?

Fair enough about the home market. I'm just impatient, sort of need it as well.

Part of it is why UK stores have them but those who bought one quickest (the true fans who bought online after the keynote) miss out and anybody can walk into an apple store this weekend and pick one up?

And it didnt say '7 business days' when i placed my order. It stated '7 days' They changed it to business days later on. On my receipt it says 7 days also.

I agree, I ordered mine 10 minutes after the keynote. I can't believe they didn't have ANY stock already made for the UK online Apple Store.

No, some of the keys are completely different shapes for different countries. The UK keyboard has a vastly different return key to the USA one:
